The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 571: A Great Harvest (Part 2)

The once-human king is now in eternal rest, never to awaken again.

All the past of the Starry Kingdom has vanished along with it, leaving only cold words and half-destroyed relics.

The ray of hope humanity once had, the struggles it once made, all have disappeared like smoke.

However, its legacy, its spirit, its history, have been inherited by another Human Kingdom, Trolian.

The Starry Kingdom is not extinct; its flame has been inherited, its stories have become legends, and its mission is taken over.

That's how humans are, passing down through generations, the flame never extinguished, the legacy continuing.

Thus, even in such desperate circumstances, humanity has not gone extinct, surviving like wild grass in the cracks.

Rod watched the Starry Queen leave, feeling the weight of responsibility on his shoulders grow heavier.

The purple starry sky disappeared, and the space inside the Divine Tower returned to its original state.

He looked at the semi-transparent condensation, and a piece of information fed back into his soul.

"Soul Trait Block with Star Characteristic"

The Book of Knowledge let out a scream:

"Oh my God! Master, quickly put it in the Storage, this is an extinct trait. Ever since the pollution of the stars became severe, the original Star Chart-like divine artifacts became extinct, I thought such Soul Traits would never appear again."

Rod, with a thought, instantly stored it into the Storage.

"Book, what use is this? Soul Trait Block, isn't it for enhancing the characteristic level of those with such traits? Star Characteristic is already extinct, it's useless, right?"

The Book of Knowledge smacked him: "Fool, did you forget about the other Spiritual Power Series? White Spirit Inheritor and Black Inheritor! They can utilize this Soul Trait to gain the power of the stars."

Rod regrettably asked, "Can I use it?"

"No way!"

The Book of Knowledge immediately rejected.

"You have a unique Dream Realm system! Closely related to the Dream Realm, you must absolutely not touch another series!"

Rod grumbled discontentedly: "It sounds very powerful, but I've consumed so many resources! Having eaten so many King Level Monster Souls and yet not reaching king level!"

The Book of Knowledge aggressively flipped its pages, evidently angry.

"What are you talking about? Don't you know everything you ate contained dark energy? What you are plundering belongs to Black Fog's power. Didn't you notice that souls from live humans you killed were very weak? Unless they were polluted! Anything you consumed would kill anyone instantly, driving them mad and become a monster!"

The Book of Knowledge was correct; Rod's voice involuntarily lowered: "But my growth is too slow this way, right?"

"Don't you know the Dream Realm still needs recovery? Don't you know plundering is not possible one hundred percent? Don't you know the main reason you're growing slowly now is due to the lack of Star Soul? The last step of the stars is the most crucial one!"

Rod scratched his head, the Book of Knowledge's words made sense, also unraveling the little confusion in his heart, but he didn't want to admit it, so he quickly changed the topic direction:

"Why are you shouting so loudly? Is this the attitude toward the master?"

The Book of Knowledge's momentum suddenly weakened.

Haha, didn't expect to use this tactic someday... Rod waved a hand accordingly: "Alright, be careful next time... let's hurry back."

The Book of Knowledge agreed sullenly.

Rod descended from the air as Anna rushed over carrying Mephit at high speed.

"We won! We won!"

She was still submerged in such joy, unable to extricate herself.

For her, this was unprecedented, playing an important role in a battle with a strong King Level Monster.

"Hahaha, I won, did you see it? Sisters, I'm not useless, boo hoo hoo hoo, I'm not useless, I can fight alongside Rod, I don't hold back, boo hoo hoo hoo!"

Rod kindly patted her front thigh, comforting: "You're amazing, Anna, you have long been able to fight alongside your sisters, your performance is no worse than theirs. Next time, I'll call Jessica and the others, and we'll fight together."

Twice as tall, the Centaur wiped her tears, revealing a tear-filled smile: "Okay!"

Rod turned his gaze, Mephit watched him expressionlessly, neither sad nor happy, his silver eyes remained cold.

"You did great, Mephit, our cooperation is simply seamless..."

Mephit softly asked: "I felt another spirit within you, what is it?"

Rod smiled: "That's my trump card, an ability that requires a huge price to use. Well, that's enough talk, the King of the Deep Sea has been killed by us, we've accomplished an unprecedented feat, now let's return to Royal City for our reward."

With a thought, he activated the Spirit Boat, and brilliant white light shone before his eyes, the Teleportation Gate opened once more.

The gate led directly to the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground.

This wasn't intentionally set by Rod, the Teleportation Gate of the Spirit Boat required he had been to the location, covered by firelight.

The stronger the firelight, the higher chance of success.

Is there anywhere with stronger fire than the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground?

Hence, unless there are special needs, Rod always opens the Teleportation Gate of the Spirit Boat at the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground.

The teleportation gate lasts only 30 seconds, the three quickly stepped through.

At the moment they returned to the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground, Rod was stunned by the scene before him.

Only to see the always solemn and serious Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground covered with a layer of white ash half a meter high.

If it weren't for the Holy Fire still burning fiercely, it'd look like an extinguished furnace.

The King stood at the center, surrounded by Fire Guardians and Fire Sacrificial, making the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground tightly enclosed.

Archbishop Horus stood at the King's side, continuously speaking about something.

Until the sudden appearance of the three, all eyes instantly turned toward them.

"Welcome back, our brave warriors."

The King smiled and said.

"In our recorded history, you used the least combat power and manpower to kill a King Level Monster, congratulations, you will surely leave your names in history..."

Horus suddenly shouted: "Wait, what are you talking about? King, what do those terrifying monsters suddenly appearing have to do with them?"

The King shrugged helplessly, indicating it's not what he intended to say.

But Horus sharply seized this flaw, shouting furiously: "Is this your prank? I'm saying how could such a powerful monster suddenly appear in the center of the Royal City and directly enter the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground! Do you know what my heart was doing at that moment?"

Rod casually replied: "Beating."

Horus shouted angrily: "It was pounding wildly! We were all almost scared to death!"

The King calmed: "Don't be agitated, Horus, didn't I kill it in one shot? No harm done..."

"No harm done?"

Horus's spittle nearly flew onto the King's face.

"Do they think the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground is some place? Monsters they can't defeat are sent here? And why did they challenge the King of the Deep Sea?"

A barrage of questions came like gunfire; everyone silently listened, even the King didn't dare provoke the enraged Archbishop.

He started from the safety of the Royal City, up to the importance of the Holy Fire, every detail was brought up to criticize them four or five times.

Only after that did he grudgingly ask:

"You can forcibly teleport? Such a powerful monster can be teleported back across such a great distance?"

Rod hurriedly explained: "Because it was severely injured, a complete form of monster cannot be teleport fixedly."

Regret clearly appeared in Horus's eyes, but he merely said: "I understand, be careful next time." and then turned to leave.

Fire Guardians and Fire Sacrificial also exited the hall.

"Well done, little Rod,"

The King smiled and said.

"Here, this is yours, right?"

He handed over a long sword.

Rod instantly recognized, this is the Destiny Divine Sword, isn't it?

One of the legacies given to him by the Ancient God of Destiny.

"Yes." Rod joyfully received the long sword, then asked: "What about the monster's ashes?"
