Chapter 161: I Desire to be Transcendent! The Only Modern Great Grandmaster in 700 Years!_5

"Grandmaster Zhang, do you have a moment?" Elder Chen spoke directly as he dialed the phone.

Zhang Beixing was momentarily stunned, then responded, "I do. What does Chen Taishan want?"

"HAHAHA, it's nothing much, really. I was just thinking that it's been a long time since you and Teacher Liu visited, and I've missed you a great deal. Besides, Teacher Liu just got back to Shishi today after being busy out of town. I thought it might be a good day to invite you both over to the Chen Family Manor. Would Grandmaster Zhang be willing to grant an old man this favor?" said Elder Chen with a hearty laugh.

Surprised by these words, Zhang Beixing thought, I didn't expect Teacher Liu to be back?

Immediately, he replied, "Chen Taishan, how could I refuse once you've asked? Give me a moment; I am currently doing Martial Arts Training in the suburbs. I'll be right over."

"Ah, wonderful! Then I'll wait for your arrival at home!" Elder Chen was delighted to receive Zhang Beixing's affirmative response.

After all, Zhang Beixing was a Grandmaster, standing at the pinnacle of the Great Xia Martial Arts community, holding a Transcendent status. Yet even so, his attitude when speaking to him hadn't changed at all. This made Elder Chen feel quite comfortable, increasingly certain that he hadn't misjudged him! Zhang Beixing, this young man, was indeed the perfect choice for his grandson-in-law!

"Rourou, what's with you? You haven't made any effort to visit your Uncle Zhang during the summer break," Elder Chen said to Chen Rourou in the Chen Family Manor after hanging up the phone. "You're just staying home watching your *Empresses in the Palace*. I swear, you're starting to resemble Zhen Huan!"

Chen Rourou: "..."

"How did this become about me again?" she retorted. "If I go out to play, you criticize me. If I stay home and watch TV, you still criticize me. Am I Schrödinger's cat, able to exist in two states at once?"

「It was ten in the morning.」

After going home, changing his clothes, and informing his parents that someone was looking for him, Zhang Beixing rode the simple and humble bicycle his parents had bought him in middle school to get here.

Seeing this, the Steward waiting at the door to receive him was bewildered. In all his years working for the Chen Family, he had seen many guests arriving in luxury cars, but this was the first he had ever encountered arriving by bicycle. And this, of all people, was Elder Chen's esteemed guest—Great Xia's youngest Martial Arts Grandmaster!

Perhaps this is what embodies a Grandmaster's style—simplicity, modesty! the Steward mused for a long moment before voicing this thought. He then hurriedly went forward to welcome him, escorting Zhang Beixing into the drawing-room.

Elder Chen and Teacher Liu had been waiting there for some time.

Upon seeing them, Zhang Beixing respectfully performed a junior's salute.

At this, Elder Chen also quickly returned the gesture, stepped forward to greet him, and invited Zhang Beixing to take the seat of honor.

After personally pouring a cup of tea for each of them, Elder Chen looked at Liu Yi and Zhang Beixing and said with a smile, "Teacher Liu and Grandmaster Zhang are indeed very busy people! It's been two months since our last meeting, hasn't it? This old man has truly missed you!"

Both Liu Yi and Zhang Beixing were shrewd. Hearing Elder Chen's words, they immediately understood he was implying they had neglected him since becoming Grandmasters, treating him merely as a means to an end.

Liu Yi chuckled, raised his teacup, and said, "It's mainly because this period has been quite hectic. Having finally broken through to Grandmaster, I needed to consolidate my cultivation. I lost track of time in the process. My apologies, old brother. I offer this tea in place of wine as an apology!"

Zhang Beixing also followed, "I've been busy traveling around recently and haven't had the chance to visit Chen Taishan. I hope Chen Taishan can forgive me!"

Seeing their reactions, a smile touched Elder Chen's eyes. He quickly stood, waved his hand, and said in mock admonishment, "Look at you two, making it seem as if I'm calling you to account! In that case, let me also toast you both, to celebrate the two of you—a master and disciple, two Grandmasters from one lineage!"

"Excellent!"

With that, the three of them raised their teacups, drained them in one go, and then began to chat animatedly, mostly about the events of the past two months.

It was during their conversation that Zhang Beixing recalled the advice he had previously received from netizens. Many of the suggestions involved things that didn't exist in reality. For example, Flowing Water Crushing Rock Fist, Qi Body Origin Stream, Thunder Technique Thousand Birds… these were all concoctions from fictional works, utterly outlandish. There was also a suggestion for him to create his own Martial Arts. That, at least, seemed somewhat plausible.

Zhang Beixing couldn't help but think of the requirements for becoming a Great Grandmaster. He asked, "Chen Taishan, regarding becoming a Great Grandmaster, besides Master of All and creating an Ultimate Skill, what other conditions are necessary?"

"And after becoming a Great Grandmaster, what changes occur?"

This was another point of confusion for Zhang Beixing. From the notes left by Bruce Lee, he had only seen the conditions to become a Great Grandmaster: to master everything and create an original Ultimate Skill. Bruce Lee had created Jeet Kune Do for this purpose, but regrettably, it was far from sufficient; he never even glimpsed the shadow of a Great Grandmaster before his death. However, Bruce Lee had never mentioned what one would gain after becoming a Great Grandmaster, or why one should strive for it.

Surely, becoming a Great Grandmaster couldn't just result in a mere change of title, could it? That would feel as if the honor didn't match the achievement.

Hearing Zhang Beixing's inquiries, Elder Chen paused, then, after some thought, said, "Grandmaster Zhang, those are rather tricky questions. As for the conditions for becoming a Great Grandmaster... to be honest, I've recently reviewed many insights left by our predecessors and haven't found any definitive clues. Throughout history, those who have become Great Grandmasters are few and far between. The exact conditions, aside from the universally acknowledged Master of All and creation of an Ultimate Skill, aren't truly clear to anyone. For anything beyond those, one can only rely on personal enlightenment and self-exploration."
