Chapter 1030: You Finally Woke Up

Yan Ze's strength wasn't what Xiao Ruo was concerned with; he was only trying to figure out who was so deliberately stuffing all those messy things into his mind. It was important to know that Chi Long was also a master of playing with fire, and implanting the memory of such a person into his mind could be considered a great asset to Xiao Ruo. Of course, this could be seen as both help and entrapment, as any mishap could easily render Xiao Ruo an idiot due to the chaotic memories.

Luckily, Xiao Ruo was trained, and luckily he knew himself well, so he resisted from beginning to end. Perhaps this situation deviated from the creator's intent, but it gave Xiao Ruo the rare chance to retain his mode of thinking. He pondered over who might be responsible for this. People like Yichen were certainly not likely to have the leisure to indulge in such antics, and even if they wanted to, they wouldn't go to such great lengths. This suggested that there was another faction hiding around them, with the purpose of capturing people and making alterations to their memories.

Xiao Ruo could also rule out the Alliance from this scenario, as the Alliance lacked such strange methods. But, in doing so, he was unable to discern what the other faction was about. He wanted to find answers within the chaotic memories, yet found nothing. Just as he attempted to untangle the mess, a loud shout suddenly pierced his mind, plunging him into a muddled state once more.

The surrounding world abruptly fell into darkness, and Xiao Ruo felt increasingly light-headed, with a stream of dazzling lights flashing before his eyes, though he couldn't discern anything. He felt his body grow incredibly heavy, and eventually, he drifted off into sleep.

He had no idea how long he slept or why he slept. Yet, while asleep, he vaguely heard someone calling out the words "Chi Long" by his ear, but Xiao Ruo instinctively resisted those words, not responding at all. In the end, he merely hummed a few times, unable to clearly hear the calls.

In his muddled state, Xiao Ruo felt as though he was moved somewhere, but couldn't quite grasp where. He desperately wanted to wake up, but was too exhausted; the thought of waking flickered briefly before he fell back into a deep sleep. He seemed to see Long Feiyun standing foolishly in place, staring blankly at everything before him, waiting foolishly for something.

He opened his mouth, wanting to call out to Long Feiyun, only to find he couldn't make a sound, as if even sound was absent here. As he hesitated, unsure whether to approach, Long Feiyun suddenly turned his head and smiled at him, at which point the entire world was filled with light.

A soft hum escaped his lips as Xiao Ruo slowly opened his eyes, the slightly dazzling light proving uncomfortable, causing tears to well up at the corners of his eyes. However, that was not the most crucial thing, as he heard someone calling his name.

Not Chi Long, but Xiao Ruo.

The voice was very familiar, but as it had been so long since he had heard it, he was momentarily unable to discern who was calling him. As a haze lingered before his eyes, a few figures appeared, yet he still couldn't make out who they were. After briefly closing his eyes to let the sensation of soreness vanish, he slowly opened them again. This time, he no longer found the light glaring and finally saw who the figures before him were.

Yichen, Xuan Yang were right in front of him. Seeing Xiao Ruo awake, a slightly gentle smile appeared on Yichen's face. But seeing these two left Xiao Ruo shocked. He instinctively sat up, wanting to retreat, but his body went limp, and he fell heavily back onto the bed.

"Restless as soon as you wake up." Yichen scolded, "Lie down quietly." He was truly worried something might happen to Xiao Ruo. After all, both Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun had disappeared for a month, and they'd been completely out of contact. Nonetheless, it was comforting that the two kids returned safely.

"What happened?" Xiao Ruo looked bewildered. He remembered being with Yan Ze, so how did he suddenly end up back here? Could it be that Yan Ze had a change of heart and sent him back? It's not impossible, as Yan Ze wasn't very courageous. But if that were the case, Yan Ze's group's purpose would require reexamination. What exactly were they trying to do?

Xiao Ruo contemplated with a bit of a headache, though this was not the time to dwell on such matters, as he hadn't yet figured out how he got back.

"You were missing for a month, then suddenly you were brought back. But no one saw who brought you back. That person simply dropped you and Feiyun off and vanished." Yichen explained simply. Yet, inside, he was not as calm as he appeared. When Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun were returned, he hadn't even glimpsed the person, just saw the two kids dumped outside the door. When they checked the surveillance footage, it revealed no one appearing in that area. Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun seemed to have appeared out of thin air, quite abruptly.

What concerned Yichen and others even more was the purpose behind why those people abducted Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun. Though their abilities had been temporarily sealed at the time, their inherent strengths were undeniable. Not to mention, Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun's conditions were constantly monitored. Yet they identified neither the abductors nor the mysterious deliverers.

A faint scent of conspiracy hovered around them, though they couldn't identify its source.

Upon hearing Yichen's words, Xiao Ruo's face changed. He hadn't realized he'd been taken by Yan Ze for so long, nor that Long Feiyun had gone through the same ordeal. Considering his own predicament, he quickly asked, "Where's Feiyun?"

"Feiyun's fine. He'll be here soon." Xuan Yang replied. However, the look on his face was extremely strange, as though something had happened to Long Feiyun.

Seeing Xuan Yang's expression change this way, Xiao Ruo felt a pang of anxiety. He was just about to get out of bed to check on Long Feiyun when Long Feiyun opened the door and walked in. The two naturally exchanged a glance; it seemed like an illusion, but Xiao Ruo felt as if he caught a glimpse of a smile in Long Feiyun's eyes—a smile that was subtle and meaningful, like meeting an old familiar friend, though this feeling of familiarity was not typical between him and Long Feiyun.

Xiao Ruo realized something was amiss, yet his face remained impassive as he watched Long Feiyun walk toward him.

"You're finally awake." Long Feiyun remarked naturally as he walked to Xiao Ruo's bedside and gave him a punch, just like before. However, the punch carried a subtle Qi Force, as if probing Xiao Ruo.

Xiao Ruo's shoulder sank slightly, dispersing the Qi Force, and he laughed, "If I didn't wake up soon, I might be buried alive." He responded to Long Feiyun's jest, but a glint of insight flashed in his eyes. This glint was only caught by Long Feiyun, unseen by others around them.

"Chi Long." Long Feiyun silently mouthed, as if eager to declare his identity.

Xiao Ruo made no response, simply observing Long Feiyun, for he couldn't ascertain who Long Feiyun truly was, or whose memories he contained. In the midst of those chaotic images, he understood this process was called inheritance, but he didn't believe it was genuine inheritance. What was considered true inheritance involved acquiring Cultivation Techniques and power, not merging with memories. Clearly, this blend of memory couldn't be deemed as inheritance.

Long Feiyun responded with an enigmatic smile, saying nothing further.
