"Crown Prince?"
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, you see..." Liu Weijiang hurriedly nodded, looking like a garlic-pounder.
After thinking for a bit, Chu Ge understood that he was talking about that skateboard boy, and it became clearer to him. No wonder Liu Weijiang was so attentive; it seemed that after he dealt with him, the boy must have said or done something to him.
"This kid, really, inexplicably made me owe him a favor again. But to make the industrial and commerce director's son so cautious, this kid must have quite the background?"
Chu Ge thought, both amused and exasperated, and didn't make things difficult for Liu Weijiang anymore. He took out his cell phone and the slip of paper the boy gave him.
Maybe because the boy was in a hurry, the note only had a phone number, with no name left.
Following the number on the note, Chu Ge dialed it under Liu Weijiang's eager eyes.
"Hello, the number you have dialed is currently powered off."
Although Chu Ge wasn't using speakerphone, due to the quiet surroundings, the voice was still clearly heard by Liu Weijiang. When he heard the powered-off notification, his face's nervousness and anticipation immediately turned into deep disappointment.
He had been looking forward to this moment, and it appeared that the living ancestor, Chu Ge, really wasn't holding a grudge this time. But why did things have to go wrong at this crucial moment, with the phone being off?
Thinking about it, it was reasonable. It was already late, and the person might have already gone to rest. How could they possibly keep their phone on waiting for a call? Alas, it was just one of those things.
"You heard it, right? It's not that I don't want to help you." Chu Ge shrugged and put away his phone.
"Then... Young Chu, do you think you could..." Liu Weijiang looked at Chu Ge eagerly.
"Alright, if I remember tomorrow, I'll try calling again for you."
"Then... you must remember!" Not hearing Chu Ge tell the "Crown Prince" himself left Liu Weijiang feeling uneasy, so he pleaded pitifully.
Chu Ge nodded, slightly helpless but amused, "Okay, you go do what you need to. I'll take a taxi home myself."
"No, uh, Young Chu, if you find riding in a Benz uncomfortable, shall I get you another car? A BMW? A Land Rover? What do you like riding in? In ten minutes... no, in five minutes, I'll have one for you."
"I just want to take a taxi home, you don't have to worry about it anymore. Go deal with your own stuff, alright?"
"Alright, alright, it's your call."
Since Chu Ge said so, Liu Weijiang had no choice but to nod like a garlic-pounder, wave off the stunned Benz driver, and respectfully step aside.
Behind Chu Ge, although Ji Songtao and the others were deeply shaken again, maybe they were already numbed by the night's continuous shocks, as their expressions didn't show any significant changes.
Seeing that Chu Ge didn't use the car Liu Weijiang arranged, Ji Songtao and the rest all chose to take taxis home.
They had enough self-awareness to know that these cars were arranged by Liu Weijiang out of respect for Chu Ge, and had nothing to do with them.
Since even Chu Ge took a taxi, if they used the cars Liu Weijiang arranged, it would seem rather ungrateful.
Once Liu Weijiang and the few cars he arranged left, Chu Ge waved to his colleagues and got into a waiting taxi by the roadside.
The taxi driver had witnessed everything that happened in front of Roman Holiday. Seeing that Chu Ge didn't take a Benz but instead got into his car, he was both flattered and felt quite proud. Upon reaching Chu Ge's place at Yipin Spring City District, he hesitated several times before reluctantly accepting the fare Chu Ge handed over.
Inside the hallway, as Chu Ge walked to the elevator, the doors were just about to close. He quickly ran a few steps and blocked the door with his arm.
As soon as he extended his arm into the elevator, a woman inside instinctively let out a surprised gasp.
It wasn't until the elevator doors reopened and the woman inside saw Chu Ge that her gasp abruptly stopped.
"Oh... Brother Chu, it's you."
Inside the elevator, Chu Shiyao's face turned pale. She patted her chest, still frazzled, and said.
Chu Ge was taken aback, not expecting to run into Chu Shiyao in the elevator this late at night. But he quickly regained his composure and smiled, "Sorry, did I scare you?"
"It wasn't just scaring me, I was almost scared to death! If I hadn't seen it was you, I would've kicked right away!"
Indeed, on such a late night, even for a stout adult man, suddenly seeing an approaching hand while deep in thought alone would be startling, let alone for a young, attractive woman like Chu Shiyao.
The situation was reminiscent of a horror movie scene.
Having finally calmed her nerves, Chu Shiyao curiously asked, "Brother Chu, what have you been up to? Why are you only back now?"
"I just had dinner with colleagues and went out to sing for a bit."
"That sounds great! I'm so jealous. I haven't even had dinner yet; I'm about to starve to death."
Hearing Chu Shiyao say this, Chu Ge couldn't help but be a bit surprised. It's almost eleven, and she still hasn't had dinner?
"Don't tell me you're trying to lose weight?"
"Ugh, Brother Chu, do you think I need to lose weight with this figure? Actually, I've been working overtime at the office, busy all this time. Oh, what a miserable life, working overtime till now and having to starve. I'm so pitiful!"
Halfway through, Chu Shiyao realized she seemed a bit too boastful and unconsciously began to show off. She playfully stuck out her tongue, quickly stopped herself mid-sentence, and changed the subject.
Seeing Chu Shiyao's expression, Chu Ge found it particularly amusing and laughed, teasing, "I must say, your workplace is quite ruthless, huh? They don't even give you time to eat. Is your boss Huang Shiren?"
Chu Shiyao sighed a little gloomily, "There's nothing I can do; hospital work is like this. I was about to get off work, but then suddenly a patient came in, and it seemed like a big deal. So, I ended up busy until now. It's really such bad luck."
"Hospital?"
"Yeah, I'm a nurse, working at the First People's Hospital of our city."
"No wonder you're so fond of cleanliness. So you're a guardian angel in white! If all hospital nurses were as pretty as you, for men, getting sick would become a blessing."
Chu Shiyao sighed lightly, nodded with a faint bitter smile, and said, "Sigh, it's a blessing for men, but it's a disaster for me. Sometimes I feel that being too pretty is not such a great thing, it's troublesome!"
Chu Ge initially thought Chu Shiyao would laugh it off or say a few humble words in response to his teasing, but he didn't expect her to come out with such a statement, which made her seem even more interesting to him.
Other girls are all afraid of not being pretty enough. Those with some means are dying to try all sorts of beauty treatments, but here Chu Shiyao is, pretty and yet finding it troublesome.
But really, when she says it, it doesn't come across as arrogant. Given her looks and figure, what she said is just being matter-of-fact, and it looks genuinely straightforward, not a bit pretentious.
Seeing the slightly gloomy baby face of Chu Shiyao, Chu Ge laughed heartily just as the elevator made a "ding," indicating they had reached the eleventh floor.
"You've been busy all day, hurry back and get some rest, good night."
"Uh... Brother Chu, um, can I discuss something with you?"
As they exited the elevator, Chu Ge said this and took out his key to open the door. But to his surprise, Chu Shiyao unexpectedly followed his steps, slightly embarrassed, and spoke up.
"Hmm?"
"Um, there's nothing to eat at my place. Can I grab a bite at yours?" Chu Shiyao rubbed her flat belly and asked pitifully.
Chu Ge curled his lips, amused in his heart. Does Chu Shiyao realize what time it is? Is she too naive, or does she trust him too much to dare to make such a request?
"No way, I came back after drinking. If you dare to come into my place, I can't guarantee I won't do anything to you." Chu Ge opened the door with his key and simultaneously shook his head resolutely.
"Aw, come on, Brother Chu. They say distant relatives aren't as good as close neighbors. If I can't trust you, who can I trust? Please help me out?" Seeing Chu Ge so decisively refuse, Chu Shiyao hurriedly pitied her way over and shook his arm.
What Chu Shiyao said was from the heart. As she saw it, if Chu Ge were the type to have ulterior motives toward her, he had much better opportunities before. Plus, with Chu Ge saying what he did now, she had nothing to worry about.
Looking at Chu Shiyao's pitiful appearance, Chu Ge shook his head with amusement and said, "Go back inside and wait. I didn't say I wouldn't take care of your dinner; I just said you can't come in. I'll see what's in the kitchen at my place and bring it over to you."
Upon hearing this, Chu Shiyao's eyes lit up with delight, nodding eagerly, "Really? Brother Chu, you're the best! You're the best man I've ever met!"
After saying this, Chu Shiyao smiled and stuck out her tongue again, like a happy little fawn, and went back to her place.
Back in his room, Chu Ge rummaged through the fridge, casually grabbing a tomato, two eggs, and a small bag of noodles, all the while feeling a bit speechless and amused as he got busy.
After a few minutes, he brought a plate of fragrant tomato and egg fried noodles and knocked on Chu Shiyao's door.
As soon as he knocked once, Chu Shiyao quickly opened the door, a pair of chopsticks clutched in her right hand. Her eyes fell on the plate of tomato and egg fried noodles in Chu Ge's hand, like a wolf looking at a sheep. Her small straight nose twitched as she took a deep whiff.
"Brother Chu, it smells so good!"
"Alright, hurry up and eat," Chu Ge smiled, handing over the plate.
Chu Shiyao was evidently starved. Without a word, she took the plate, and right in front of Chu Ge, stretched her chopsticks to pick up a piece of noodle.
Once she stuffed that mouthful of fried noodles into her mouth and looked back at Chu Ge, her gaze immediately became somewhat fixated.
