Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 531: Patiently Waiting

Puffing with anger, Mu Lingshan came to the bedside and looked at Chu Ge's sleeping profile, but she hesitated.

She really wanted to kick Chu Ge awake and drive him to the sofa so she could rest well on the big bed, but she found she couldn't bring herself to do it.

No matter the reason Chu Ge came here, ultimately, his presence was likely to face multiple dangers, and she couldn't say it had nothing to do with her. She hadn't rested well these past few days, but hadn't Chu Ge been just as busy?

She was tired, so was Chu Ge not tired?

"Forget it, I am broad-minded and won't stoop to the level of this guy."

Mu Lingshan muttered, glanced at the large empty space on the bed, stood at the bedhead thinking for a long time, and finally tiptoed into bed, keeping a person's distance from Chu Ge, quietly lying down.

She was truly tired these days. What would happen tomorrow was still unknown. She felt she needed to recharge and relax. Only by ensuring her physical strength could she cope with any sudden situation.

Not knowing what she was thinking, Mu Lingshan watched Chu Ge's profile up close for a while until she felt her cheeks growing warm and her heart a little flustered, then she turned around to ready herself for sleep.

The more she wanted to sleep, the more her mind refused to quiet down. The events that happened with Chu Ge flitted through her mind like a movie, sometimes making her grit her teeth, other times making her chuckle.

Although this guy had a weird temper and was sometimes sleazy, actually... he seemed to be a good person.

She glanced sideways at Chu Ge again. The lines of his face were actually... very firm, very masculine, full of manly charm. Ah, this guy looked much more handsome asleep than awake.

Mu Lingshan secretly whispered, and who knows how long it took before she finally drifted into a restless sleep full of strange dreams.

In these muddled dreams, she was sometimes wearing a police uniform with a frosty expression, sometimes dressed in flamboyance with a smiling face. Her surroundings constantly changed—a bar she and Chu Ge first went to, then Jinkai Villa, a police station, and some unknown place.

The next morning, as Mu Lingshan's consciousness gradually awoke, she felt a wave of hot breath coming towards her face.

The moment she opened her eyes, Mu Lingshan's pupils shrank fiercely. Within her sight was Chu Ge's firm face, only a few centimeters away from hers. The heated airflow was evidently from Chu Ge's breathing.

It must be said that as a policewoman, Mu Lingshan's psychological resilience was much stronger than most girls her age. Although her mouth fell open, she suppressed the urge to scream.

For in the flash of a moment, she realized waking Chu Ge now would definitely result in monumental awkwardness.

She swallowed nervously, carefully shifted her body, and left the big bed.

When Chu Ge woke up, Mu Lingshan was already fully dressed and was throwing darts at a target as if the target had wronged her somehow, her pretty face full of resentment.

"Hey, quite at ease, aren't you?"

Chu Ge greeted cheerfully. Mu Lingshan turned to glance at him, her eyes twitching slightly, with a gaze as if she wanted to kill someone.

"What did I do to deserve your glare?"

Chu Ge mumbled in confusion, turned around, and headed towards the bathroom. Mu Lingshan took several deep breaths before finally suppressing the urge to throw a dart at him, hurling it at the target instead.

The entire morning, Chu Ge and Mu Lingshan wandered around the villa like ordinary tourists. Chu Ge was as flashy as always, especially when playing billiards, earning rounds of applause.

Chu Ge was excellent at billiards, a leisure activity he particularly enjoyed. High strokes, low strokes, angle shots, all kinds of techniques were no problem for him. Even Mu Lingshan had to admit watching Chu Ge play billiards was truly a pleasure.

Straight shots were naturally a given. Even complicated side pocket shots seemed effortless for Chu Ge, rarely making mistakes. Under his cue, the cue ball on the table seemed to have a mind of its own, its positionings were astonishingly precise.

Watching Chu Ge play, Mu Lingshan couldn't help but wonder how many more skills this guy possessed that she didn't know about.

Even having witnessed many of Chu Ge's amazing skills, Mu Lingshan felt that way. It was needless to say how the other tourists at the villa felt; his exquisite billiard skills seemed practically miraculous to them.

After lunch, the two returned to their room. Around three o'clock, the phone in the room rang.

Chu Ge and Mu Lingshan exchanged glances, curled a corner of their lips, then picked up the phone and lazily said, "Hello."

"Boss, it's Xiao Lan. We met yesterday. I wonder if you're interested in playing cards today?"

Chu Ge replied with little interest, "If it's the same small game as yesterday, forget it. I'm not interested."

A giggle came through the receiver, "Boss, don't worry, since you said so yesterday, how could I disappoint you?"

Chu Ge appropriately let out an "oh," slightly dragging the tone, then heard Xiaolan continue, "Boss, it's the same room as yesterday, everyone there is a regular. I believe they should suit your taste."

"Then I'll go take a look. I hope you won't let me down."

"Rest assured, boss, I definitely won't."

Chu Ge hung up the phone, and Mu Lingshan immediately came over, looking expectantly, "So, are they planning to take us to the casino?"

Chu Ge shook his head, "Not that easy, they're still having us go to the same room as yesterday."

Hearing this, Mu Lingshan's face immediately showed disappointment, but Chu Ge just smiled and said, "Alright, don't look so gloomy. If you were running a casino, you'd want to test strange faces a few times too. If all goes well, there should be someone at today's game keeping an eye on us from their casino. This kind of progress is already pretty decent."

The fact was just as Chu Ge had anticipated, among the people playing cards with him this time, there was indeed someone who wasn't a tourist but an insider from Jinkai Villa.

This person was called Ma Wu, not yet thirty, tall and thin, with many freckles on his face, and a pair of very sharp eyes. He was here today to continue probing Chu Ge.

This time, the stakes were much higher than yesterday. On the surface, Chu Ge seemed genuinely intrigued, at least he wasn't randomly playing dark cards anymore.

At the table, Chu Ge won some and lost some, but in the end, he lost more than two hundred thousand. Yet, he didn't show even the slightest bit of distress; instead, he displayed a rather good mood.

Ma Wu had a big win today, and after the game dispersed, he rolled his small, sharp eyes and followed Chu Ge and Mu Lingshan, actively trying to get close.

"Buddy, I won quite a bit from you today, I'm feeling a bit guilty. How about grabbing a meal together?"

Mu Lingshan was delighted at heart; it was clear Ma Wu wanted to probe further.

Chu Ge, however, disdainfully curled his lips, snorting from his nose, "Just a couple of bucks, who are you trying to fool with that line?"

Ma Wu was taken aback, then quickly plastered a sheepish smile on his face, "Buddy, don't take it the wrong way. That's not what I meant. Honestly, I just think you have an extraordinary presence and want to make friends."

Chu Ge raised an eyebrow, nodding slightly, "Hmm, if you put it that way, it sounds reasonable. But..." He paused for a moment and continued, "I'm not familiar with you, no interest in having a meal."

With that, Chu Ge arrogantly strode away without even glancing at Ma Wu, whose expression was extremely awkward.

Mu Lingshan was fuming upon hearing Chu Ge speak like that, wanting to pinch him hard, but in this situation, she could only suppress her anger, reluctantly following in Chu Ge's footsteps.

When they returned to their room, Mu Lingshan immediately exclaimed in frustration, "Chu Ge, are you here to have fun or to bust the gambling ring? That was such a good chance to gain Ma Wu's trust and secure an early entry to the casino! What were you thinking? Why didn't you go when he invited you to dinner?"

Chu Ge looked at Mu Lingshan with amusement and shook his head helplessly.

"You, why so impatient? Hey, have you ever heard of the strategy to bait and lure? If I agreed to eat with him, it wouldn't be as effective as rejecting. I'm playing the part of an indulgent rich kid. If I accepted any invitation from just anyone, wouldn't that cheapen me?"

Mu Lingshan froze, quickly realizing she had indeed been too hasty, overlooking this rather simple point.

However, even though she acknowledged this internally, she mumbled, "You're always right. Might as well call yourself Chu Youli. But just waiting around like this, when will it end?"

Chu Ge gave a slight smile, "Alright, you understand the principle of haste makes waste, right? They're watching our behavior over the past few days. Someone as loaded as me, they won't miss the opportunity. Don't think too much for now, just be a little more patient."

What else could Mu Lingshan say? She could only nod in agreement.

Another two days passed, and Mu Lingshan became increasingly anxious, while Chu Ge nonchalantly continued his indulgent lifestyle, playing the Money Scatterer, throwing wads of cash around.

Just when Mu Lingshan couldn't hold her patience any longer and started seriously doubting Chu Ge's plan, that afternoon, Ma Wu came to find Chu Ge again.

"Buddy, want to play for even bigger stakes?"

Chu Ge curled his lips slightly, "Oh?"

It was the same indifferent tone, with a tinge of superiority and a hint of nonchalance.
