Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 438 Another One

Qin Ruojing was suddenly stunned. Although only two words made the difference in the two sentences, their meanings underwent a complete upheaval.

Anyone would find it hard to digest such a huge contrast suddenly.

After a few seconds of dumbfoundedness, Qin Ruojing sat down next to Chu Ge in annoyance, frowning and saying, "Can you stop being so dramatic? What's going on exactly?"

Chu Ge shrugged helplessly. It wasn't like he wanted to be dramatic; it was entirely because Qin Ruojing suddenly interrupted him, causing her to misunderstand.

However, Chu Ge could empathize with Qin Ruojing's current mood and did not refute the topic. He directly said, "In short, I was deceived by your sister. I mistook her for you. When I went to bed, she saw through the ruse and exposed our fake relationship."

Qin Ruojing frowned and said, "So you admitted it?"

"The facts were right there. Even if I didn't want to admit it, I couldn't. Do you think a couple who can sleep in the same bed, even if they haven't taken that final step, could still behave as formally as we usually do?"

Qin Ruojing pinched her brows, "That girl, no wonder she kept pouring me drinks. So that was her plan."

After a silence lasting over ten seconds, Qin Ruojing sighed and continued, "What else did she say afterward?"

"She said she'd confront you today. It's between you two now, but I don't think she'll tell your parents, so you don't need to worry too much."

Although Chu Ge offered some comfort, Qin Ruojing's brow still didn't relax. Leaning back on the sofa, she looked deeply troubled.

Chu Ge had said all he could. What happened next between the sisters was no longer his concern.

"Chairman, I'm sorry."

Though being set up by Qin Ruoying under such circumstances last night was somewhat understandable, a failed task is a failed task. Chu Ge wasn't looking for excuses. He said apologetically, then handed over the bank card Qin Ruojing had previously given him and the keys to her house.

Qin Ruojing looked up at the bank card and the key, then looked at Chu Ge, but didn't reach to take them, feeling a complex mix of emotions.

Originally, she did plan to end this relationship with Chu Ge once Qin Ruoying left, but when the moment actually came, it felt so sudden.

It seemed like there was a lot she wanted to say but didn't know how to start. After a full seven or eight seconds, Qin Ruojing forced a smile and shook her head.

"No, you don't need to apologize to me. I'm already grateful for all the help you've given me."

Chu Ge smiled as well, placing the bank card and key on the coffee table. He then turned towards the bathroom. When he finished freshening up, Qin Ruojing was still sitting in the same position on the sofa, her gaze fixed on the coffee table, appearing somewhat lost.

"Chairman, I'll be going now. Your sister is still sleeping, so I'll come back for my things another day."

With that, Chu Ge headed towards the door.

"Wait."

Chu Ge turned back and saw Qin Ruojing picking up the key from the coffee table and standing up from the sofa.

"Take the key with you. It'll be convenient for you to come back and get your things. After all, I can't always be at home."

As she spoke, Qin Ruojing also took her bag and pulled out a wad of cash from it, walking over to Chu Ge and handing it to him along with the key.

"All this time, you've helped me so much with all your hard work. Take this money."

Chu Ge rubbed his nose and smiled, shaking his head, "There's really no need for that."

To be honest, he didn't find helping Qin Ruojing put on a charade all this time to be a burden. In fact, he found it quite interesting.

Although unintentionally for the most part, he did get a lot of unintentional 'benefits' from the sisters. It felt more like a treat from Qin Ruojing rather than working there. He felt embarrassed to accept the money.

"Just take it. It's only fair for an employer to pay an employee. Do you want me to always owe you?"

Qin Ruojing said firmly, and then she stuffed the key and the money into Chu Ge's hand.

Since Qin Ruojing was insistent, any more refusal would be pretentious. Chu Ge accepted the money and the key.

"That's it then. Call me if you need anything. Bye."

Chu Ge smiled, then turned and left her home decisively under Qin Ruojing's watch.

As Chu Ge's figure disappeared from sight and the sound of the door clicking shut resonated in the room, Qin Ruojing shivered slightly, the complex emotions in her heart seemingly growing even stronger.

The house felt oddly empty all of a sudden. Qin Ruojing sat on the sofa for who knows how long before finally collecting the bank card from the coffee table and putting it into her bag. She checked the time, freshened up and dressed simply, then headed out to the company.

As for the confrontation Qin Ruoying was seeking, it didn't seem to bother her as much as she imagined. She decided to address it in the evening instead.

Driving her Audi A8 to the office, Qin Ruojing almost ran a red light several times. Even when she reached the office, her mind was still elsewhere, taking more than an hour to get into work mode, burying herself in some documents.

The desk phone rang persistently, but Qin Ruojing habitually ignored it. However, after a while, the ringing continued unrelentingly. She frowned slightly and called out to Chu Ge, but there was no response.

Glancing over at where Chu Ge usually sat, it was empty. She suddenly remembered that Chu Ge wasn't working today, and again felt somewhat dazed.

She answered the call, addressed some matters with a manager, and her well-manicured fingers started tapping on the desk reflexively.

In the past, although Chu Ge was not a very competent driver and secretary, often absent due to Tianqing Company affairs, the feeling then was different from now. The office not only felt particularly deserted, but there was also an inexplicable sense of loss and restlessness in her heart.

Involuntarily, scenes of her encounters with Chu Ge resurfaced in Qin Ruojing's mind. She still couldn't quite grasp what these feelings meant or what exactly Chu Ge's place in her heart was.

A subordinate? A friend?

Both seemed right, yet neither seemed entirely accurate.

Could she possibly really like Chu Ge?

The thought startled Qin Ruojing, and she quickly shook her head, dismissing the notion.

Impossible, absolutely impossible. I'm just not used to it temporarily. We bicker every day, our personalities are so different, we're not the same kind of people at all. What am I thinking?

After convincing herself with these words, Qin Ruojing's mood gradually calmed. Suddenly, she recalled what Chu Ge said in the elevator yesterday about not wanting to be Tianqing Company's president.

How did I forget that? I promised him yesterday I would reveal his identity as president today.

Rubbing her forehead, Qin Ruojing picked up the phone and informed all the directors of the Tianjiao Group that she would be holding a board meeting shortly.

After leaving Qin Ruojing's house, Chu Ge grabbed a quick breakfast outside before heading back to his own place.

Upon opening the door, the house was still impeccably clean. It was evident that the pretty nurse next door, Chu Shiyao, had been coming over to tidy up during his absence.

Having such a neighbor is truly great.

Reflecting on this, Chu Ge returned to his bedroom, opened his laptop, and downloaded some popular games. While waiting for them to finish downloading, he browsed their official websites.

Even though he was Tianqing Company's president, everything was running smoothly now. With Tong Yaqi as general manager holding things down, he felt very assured. He decided to give himself a day off from acting alongside Qin Ruojing, staying home to explore mainstream games in the market, using it as a way to relax.

After spending who knows how long on this, he received a call from Qin Ruoying, playfully scolding him for just leaving. Before he knew it, it was already noon, and his stomach growled.

Rubbing his empty belly, Chu Ge exited the game he had just downloaded and then left the house.

With only his elder brother at home, he couldn't be bothered to cook. Even if he wanted to, his long absence meant the fridge was empty.

Chu Ge intended to find a nearby place to eat, but just as he stepped out, he received a call from Tong Yaqi, saying there were some work matters to discuss with him.

Chu Ge asked if she had eaten and, upon learning she hadn't, suggested they meet at a restaurant near Tianqing Company to discuss matters over lunch.

The restaurant was quite elegant. When Chu Ge arrived, Tong Yaqi had already ordered and was waiting for him in a private room.

She stood up with a bright smile when she saw him enter, "President Chu."

Chu Ge waved his hand, sat down beside Tong Yaqi, and smiled, "Yaqi, it's just the two of us. Don't call me that, it feels awkward."

Tong Yaqi laughed and shook her head, "When others are around, you said you didn't want your identity revealed, so you didn't let me call you President Chu. Now it's just us, and you still won't let me call you that. When can I call you President Chu?"

"Then how about never? I don't really like the title anyway. I'd rather you call me Emperor instead of President Chu."

Tong Yaqi chuckled and playfully rolled her eyes at Chu Ge.

"You, first you brought me in, then you appointed a Director Luo, then even brought over Xia Feifei from our old Tianjiao Film and Television days. And today, yet another girl shows up for you. I'm beginning to wonder if you plan to turn Tianqing Company into your private garden."

Chu Ge blinked in surprise, "Another one? Who?"
