Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 377: You're Not My Wife

Looking into Chen Jiatong's beautiful eyes filled with confusion, Chu Ge pondered slightly, gave a gentle smile, but didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "Why do you ask?"

"I feel... Chairman Qin Ruojing seemed very unhappy when she saw you taking pictures of us, almost like... she was jealous."

Seeing Chu Ge smiling so amiably without showing any displeasure, Chen Jiatong hesitated briefly before honestly sharing her thoughts.

Holding back his amusement, Chu Ge glanced at Xu Jingyuan, who was also looking at him, and asked, "You don't think so too, do you?"

Xu Jingyuan nodded.

Chu Ge laughed heartily and played a little mystery game with Chen Jiatong and Xu Jingyuan, saying, "Actually, she's both my girlfriend and not my girlfriend."

The two women were already puzzled enough, and hearing Chu Ge say this only added to their confusion. Chen Jiatong playfully punched Chu Ge.

"Young Master Chu, stop teasing us. Is Qin Ruojing really your girlfriend or not? What do you mean by that?"

"Actually, her family was pressuring her to date and get married, so she asked me to help out, to act as her boyfriend and deal with her family. But for some reason, this act hasn't ended yet, so we're just a pretend couple for certain occasions."

With Chen Jiatong and Xu Jingyuan, there was nothing much to hide, so Chu Ge truthfully explained the situation.

As expected, after Chu Ge explained, Chen Jiatong showed a look of sudden understanding and giggled, "So that's how it is. I never realized that our Young Master Chu is also an actor."

Chu Ge chuckled but then noticed Xu Jingyuan still had a strange expression. Feeling puzzled, he looked at Xu Jingyuan and asked, "Yuanyuan, what's your reaction?"

Xu Jingyuan hesitated, pursed her lips, and said, "To be honest, Young Master Chu, I think Chairman Qin Ruojing might have caught real feelings. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been unhappy seeing you with us."

"Huh?"

"Young Master Chu, I think Chairman Qin Ruojing's look at me and Tongtong was really off, like she was jealous."

Chu Ge was amused once again. Previously, Tong Yaqi had said something similar, and he didn't expect even Xu Jingyuan to have this thought.

In his view, although Qin Ruojing was indeed not too happy earlier, it definitely had nothing to do with jealousy.

Seeing Chu Ge's amused face, Xu Jingyuan also smiled a little, wondering if she was just being too sensitive.

With a "ding," the elevator reached the first floor. Chu Ge escorted Chen Jiatong and Xu Jingyuan to the door, watched them get into the car, said a few apologetic words, and then returned to the top floor's president's office.

Upon entering the room, he discovered that Chen Jiatong had left her camera on the coffee table; she had forgotten to take it with her when she left.

"This Chen Jiatong, I wonder if she truly forgot or purposely left the camera for me to return."

Chu Ge mumbled to himself, glanced at Qin Ruojing sitting on the sofa, and smiled, "Chairman, I've seen them off. Is there anything you want to ask?"

Initially, Qin Ruojing had a lot to say when Chen Jiatong and Xu Jingyuan were present, but once the office was just her and Chu Ge, she lost the desire to question him.

"I can't be bothered to ask you. Just take care of yourself, and don't forget your relationship with Director Tong, and He Qing's trust in you."

After saying this, Qin Ruojing stood up from the sofa, and Chu Ge smiled faintly, not commenting.

Though Chu Ge hadn't expected Qin Ruojing to let him go so easily, it was precisely what he wanted, saving a lot of trouble.

As Qin Ruojing reached the door, she suddenly paused and returned to the coffee table to pick up Chen Jiatong's camera, then looked at Chu Ge and said calmly, "Give me Chen Jiatong's phone number."

Chu Ge was taken aback, wondering what Qin Ruojing was up to, and asked puzzledly, "Hmm? Why do you need her phone number?"

Qin Ruojing rolled her eyes at Chu Ge, "Nonsense, of course, to return her camera. Do you think I want to invite her for dinner or tea?"

Chu Ge shook his head speechlessly, "Such a small matter doesn't need you to handle it. I can just download the photos and return it to her later."

"Just give it to me; don't think I don't know what you're up to. I bet you're using the camera as an excuse to do something with Chen Jiatong, right?"

Seeing Qin Ruojing squinting with a displeased tone, Chu Ge shrugged helplessly, "Alright, alright. You're really taking my goodwill as a donkey's liver and lungs. I'll give you her number; it's..."

Without even looking at the contacts, Chu Ge directly recited Chen Jiatong's number. After he finished speaking, Qin Ruojing furrowed her brows again.

"President Chu, I find that saying you have something up your sleeve really isn't an exaggeration. You remember her number so well? And you claim there's nothing fishy going on between you two?"

Listening to Qin Ruojing's increasingly unfriendly tone, Chu Ge rubbed his forehead, "Chairman, could it be that you're on your period? It's just a phone number, isn't it? I can recite the numbers of anyone in my phone just as easily. Do you have to act like you've swallowed a bomb?"

Chu Ge wasn't exaggerating; with his memory, even without intentionally trying, if he glanced at a number twice, he wouldn't easily forget it.

These were skills he developed during his time in the organization. After all, the training back then wasn't only about physical fitness; the mental intensity was also off the charts.

Upon hearing Chu Ge's explanation, Qin Ruojing's expression finally improved slightly. She overlooked his period remark, snorted, and said instinctively, "How could I be the same as her?"

Chu Ge chuckled, "What's the difference? You're not my wife."

"I…"

Under Chu Ge's questioning, Qin Ruojing was momentarily speechless. Suddenly, she realized that she and Chu Ge were just pretending to be a couple. After a few seconds, she said, "I... I'm your boss, that's definitely different."

After speaking, Qin Ruojing gave Chu Ge another glare, grabbed her camera, and quickly walked out of the office, leaving Chu Ge staring after her, both amused and baffled.

The way Qin Ruojing acted was quite like what Xu Jingyuan had said—there was definitely a hint of jealousy.

Yet, however it looked, Chu Ge did not believe Qin Ruojing was truly jealous.

After all, they had completely different life attitudes. When together, they'd argue every three sentences and fall out by the fifth. In short, they were people from different worlds, brought together only by a strange twist of fate.

Watching Qin Ruojing's retreating figure, Chu Ge wore his trademark smile. Just as he was about to light a cigarette, Qin Ruojing stopped at the door and suddenly turned back.

"Chairman, what now?"

Facing Qin Ruojing's gaze, Chu Ge rubbed his forehead, feeling utterly speechless, increasingly suspecting that Qin Ruojing was actually on her period. Couldn't she have said everything in one go instead of coming and going like she was guarding a city gate?

"Before you go to the job market on the 18th, check out other recruitment channels. Report any progress to me at any time."

Qin Ruojing came over today firstly to see how the photos were taken, and secondly just to tell Chu Ge this. However, she completely forgot about it earlier and only remembered suddenly now.

"Alright, got it. Anything else?"

"Keep your phone on, in case my sister calls. That's it, nothing more."

This time, Qin Ruojing finally left the office, and Chu Ge lit the cigarette in his mouth, shaking his head increasingly in a bittersweet manner.

Sitting on the leather sofa, Chu Ge smoked and thought about the recruitment.

Though he found it quite bothersome, he really couldn't ignore it. After all, Qin Ruojing had a mountain of big and small matters, and He Junming was a hands-off boss. If he didn't get busy, who knows when this company could actually get running.

A few minutes passed, and Chu Ge stubbed out the cigarette butt in the ashtray. He had already thought of another recruitment channel, which was university job fairs.

Currently, universities hadn't begun their summer vacations yet. Although many students in their final year (fourth year) had already gone out for internships, some should still be around, spending their last university days, idling in their dorms.

Among these fourth-year students, there would certainly be those whose families are well-off with connections and have secured jobs, but more likely are those from average backgrounds, with average grades, almost zero connections, filled with confusion about the future, not knowing which way to go—grassroots students.

These grassroots students are mostly homebodies, not necessarily skilled in other areas, but likely good at games, having certain insights in these. If a recruitment drive were conducted now, it would probably grab the attention of many of such students.

As someone from grassroots himself, Chu Ge had deeply felt that sense of confusion about the future, naturally feeling more partial towards the grassroots.

When he didn't have enough ability, he certainly couldn't do much. But now that he had this capability, he also hoped to be a talent scout, willing to give these grassroots students a possible life-changing opportunity.

Moreover, besides the soon-to-graduate fourth-year students, the third-year students who were about to become fourth years could also be targeted for recruitment. After all, they would soon face the prospect of internships, and some true talents who had learned useful skills in college might be found among these students.

With this plan decided, Chu Ge checked the time and casually dialed Ye Li's number. The first stop for the university recruitment fair, he decided, would be Lidu University.
