Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 16: The Insomniac Sisters

Even though Qin Ruojing knew that Chu Ge probably wouldn't do anything to her, she couldn't help but sneak glances in his direction from time to time, fearing he might suddenly make a move or say something.

The truth proved that Qin Ruojing's worries were indeed unnecessary. She waited for a long time, and Chu Ge remained very quiet and well-behaved, without any extra movements or sounds.

In the hazy night, Qin Ruojing tossed and turned, not knowing how much time had passed. Just when she was finally feeling a little sleepy, a sound emerged from the room—not very loud, but to her ears, it was like a series of thunderclaps: snoring.

"This jerk! Is my charm really that lacking? Sharing a room with me, not only did he fall asleep in minutes, but he also! he's sleeping so soundly to even snore!"

Listening to Chu Ge's snores, Qin Ruojing became more and more restless, grinding her teeth in silent frustration, completely forgetting that she had just been worried about Chu Ge being awake and doing or saying something to her.

Since she couldn't sleep, Qin Ruojing sat up against the headboard in anger, staring unblinkingly at Chu Ge, as if her gaze could somehow stop him from snoring.

But as she kept looking, when Qin Ruojing saw Chu Ge kick off the thin blanket, turning over to face her, she felt as if she'd been caught doing something wrong and immediately shrunk back under the covers, closing her eyes. Her long eyelashes fluttered slightly, pretending to be asleep.

The already endless time seemed to stretch even longer at that moment.

Just a few minutes felt like centuries to Qin Ruojing, who could clearly hear her own heartbeat.

When she couldn't resist sneaking a peek toward Chu Ge, her slightly calmed heartbeat suddenly spiked, thumping wildly like a drumbeat.

In her sight, the blanket was completely kicked aside. Chu Ge was smacking his lips, a smile that begged to be punched forming on his face, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

Of course, Chu Ge did not do this on purpose; he had long since fallen asleep, and these were entirely subconscious actions.

Seeing this scene, Qin Ruojing's eye twitched. Chu Ge's expression annoyed her no end, and a strong urge arose in her to hit him with a pillow, though she knew full well that the snoring smile, however irritating, wasn't directed at her intentionally.

However, just as Qin Ruojing was about to act on her impulse, reaching for a pillow to throw at Chu Ge, his thick brows furrowed, his lips moved slightly, and he murmured something unclear.

Qin Ruojing was startled again, instinctively letting go of the pillow she had grabbed. Looking at Chu Ge, he had already turned over again, with his back facing her once more.

Though Qin Ruojing didn't catch it clearly, she could tell it was likely a woman's name. Her eyebrows furrowed, and the embarrassment and annoyance in her eyes gradually faded. For some reason, when she thought of his frowned expression, something seemed to stir in her heart. Looking at Chu Ge lying on his side with his back to her, she inexplicably felt a hint of desolation.

With a gentle sigh, Qin Ruojing quietly got out of bed, tucked Chu Ge back under the covers, and then sat at the bedside, gazing out at the crescent moon with a slight daze.

That night, Qin Ruojing wasn't the only one suffering from insomnia. Qin Ruoying lay tossing and turning in her own bed as well.

For the Qin sisters, this seemed like an even longer night than usual, but finally, the sky in the east began to lighten.

At 3:30 AM, the alarm Qin Ruojing had set the day before rang on time.

Raising an arm that felt slightly sore, Qin Ruojing turned off the alarm on her phone. Just as she was about to call Chu Ge to get up, he was already sitting up from the floor.

"Hey? Why do you look so bad? Didn't sleep well last night?"

Chu Ge stretched, feeling refreshed, and turned his head to look at Qin Ruojing, noticing the obvious dark circles under her eyes as she looked back at him.

Qin Ruojing pinched her brow, thinking, "Isn't it because of you? I didn't sleep a wink all night!"

Yet her face showed no special expression, as she said lightly, "Not bad, I'll call Xiaoying to see if she's up. You better tidy up quickly, so no one will know we didn't sleep on the same bed."

With that, Qin Ruojing turned around and picked up her iPhone 5S. However, before she could call, there was a knock at the door.

"Sis, brother-in-law, are you up?" Qin Ruoying's slightly tired voice came from outside the door.

Qin Ruojing was taken aback, thinking, is the sun rising from the west? Qin Ruoying is really up this early?

Apart from surprise, Qin Ruojing was more anxious, quickly turning back to give Chu Ge a look to hurry up and get ready.

As Qin Ruojing turned around, Chu Ge was in the process of putting on the casual pants he had bought yesterday, half-dressed. Qin Ruojing couldn't help but glare at Chu Ge and said to Qin Ruoying at the door, "We're up, just not dressed yet. Keep it down, Mom and Dad are still sleeping."

"Got it, got it. You two hurry up."

Under the urging gaze of Qin Ruojing, Chu Ge surprisingly saw a touch of femininity. He wondered if this was an illusion, and at the same time quickly put on his clothes. As usual, he folded the quilt into a neat square tofu block, but he immediately realized and deliberately made the quilt a bit loose before placing it back in the cabinet.

Although this was a very small detail, it made Qin Ruojing slightly startled.

This guy, was he once a soldier? No wonder he quickly took down that rogue's bodyguard. He indeed has a meticulous mind; he even purposely made the quilt loose. If it were someone else, they probably wouldn't think so thoroughly, right?

Just from this point, it seems like asking him to help act was the right choice? Hopefully, he can cooperate well with her and not expose any flaws.

As Qin Ruojing pondered this in her heart, just when Chu Ge had finished tidying up everything and she was about to open the door, Chu Ge gestured her to wait with a "hold on" look.

Although Qin Ruojing didn't know what Chu Ge wanted her to wait for, after these two days of interaction, she had unconsciously gotten used to Chu Ge's various arrangements.

No matter how loudly he made a fuss, he always managed to wrap things up perfectly. So far, there hadn't been any mistakes. A tacit understanding had formed between her and Chu Ge, and she had developed a certain trust in him.

With a curious look from Qin Ruojing, Chu Ge first lay on her bed for a moment, leaving a very clear imprint, then rubbed his head on her pillow. When he felt it was about right, he picked up a few strands of her hair from the pillow, tucked one behind his neck, and threw the rest into his collar.

After finishing all this, Chu Ge nodded to Qin Ruojing, signaling that she could open the door.

Although it was just a basic disguise, Chu Ge felt there was much more he could set up. However, he believed that to fool Qin Ruoying, reaching this level was definitely enough.

"This guy is a natural actor! What does it mean to be meticulous? This is the best explanation!" Qin Ruojing marveled quietly and opened the door.

"Why did it take so long to open the door? Are you two up to something?" Qin Ruoying muttered, sticking her head in to inspect the room as if she were searching for some "evidence."

Unfortunately, she couldn't find any clues after looking for a long time. There were traces of two people having slept on the bed, and she saw her older sister's long hair on Chu Ge. From the current situation, she really couldn't spot any problem.

When she disappointedly turned her gaze to Qin Ruojing's face, she noticed the obvious dark circles and couldn't help revealing a mischievous smile.

"Brother-in-law, what time did you and my sister go to bed last night? Look at my sister, her dark circles are so obvious."

"You little brat, why do you care what time we went to bed? Don't you have anything better to do?"

Hearing this, Qin Ruojing immediately gave Qin Ruoying a displeased look and raised her hand to smack her.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you doing? I'm just asking what time you guys went to bed, what's wrong with that? Brother-in-law, you better stop my sister, she's still bullying me at my age."

Chu Ge broke into a sweat and hurriedly changed the topic: "Let's hurry up and wash up. After that, we can go out in the greenery. If we go too late, we might not be able to buy mugwort."

"I say, are you two okay? If you really didn't get enough sleep, maybe just forget about it?"

"Forget about what!"

Qin Ruojing grumbled and raised her palm again, but this time Qin Ruoying was prepared. As soon as Qin Ruojing raised her hand, Qin Ruoying dashed off like a lively little rabbit and even turned back to make a funny face at her sister.

Watching Qin Ruoying dart into the bathroom, Chu Ge was quite speechless. It was understandable for Qin Ruojing to be tired, but why did Qin Ruoying also look like she didn't sleep well?

Qin Ruojing didn't notice because she was worried about making a mistake, but Chu Ge immediately saw that Qin Ruoying also had two big dark circles. However, they weren't very noticeable due to some concealer.

Perhaps because they were going out in the greenery, the Qin sisters didn't spend much time on makeup. The three of them finished washing up in just half an hour and left the house in casual attire.

This time, the three of them were heading to Beishan Park, located in the suburbs, which was quite far from the Qin Family. But when it came to transportation, it was not a problem for them. With Qin Ruojing being the CEO, it was only natural the Qin Family had a private car.

When the three arrived at the underground parking lot of the community, Chu Ge spotted the Qin Family's eye-catching Hummer Jeep, and he couldn't help but think, "Qin Ruojing really dared to buy this for her dad. There probably aren't many detectives nationwide with such a good car, right? I wonder if Qin Yan usually drives this."

The three of them got into the Hummer, with Chu Ge driving and the Qin sisters sitting in the back. After half an hour's drive, Beishan Park was in sight.

Although Chu Ge expected a lot of people would go out for greenery, he didn't anticipate there would be such a large crowd. As far as the eye could see, it was a sea of people, shoulder to shoulder.

After a great effort, they finally snagged a parking spot. As soon as the three got out of the car, Chu Ge became more vigilant.

A large crowd meant a higher possibility of encountering trouble. Furthermore, taking this pair of sister flowers out, it was difficult not to become the center of attention!
