The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 93: So Pitiful

The Golden Winged Great Peng flapped one wing and traveled ninety thousand miles.

In an instant, he descended into a high mountain with the sachet, entering his cave dwelling.

"Servants, quickly prepare good wine and fine dishes, I want to revel with the beauty!"

The Golden Winged Great Peng laughed heartily as he placed Mei Hu on the throne.

Perhaps because he flew too fast, Mei Hu closed her eyes and remained motionless, seemingly fainted.

"Why are you so charming?"

The Golden Winged Great Peng, finding her beautiful, couldn't help but kiss her forehead gently.

"Hmm?"

He suddenly felt something was amiss.

"Why does it feel prickly?"

The Golden Winged Great Peng touched his lips and pulled out a few strands of fox fur.

"G-Great King..."

All the little demons in the cave, including the Peng Demon, Lion Demon, and Wolf Demon, stared in shock at the Golden Winged Great Peng.

"How did you bring back a fur baby?"

They asked.

"What!"

With a flash of realization, the Golden Winged Great Peng snapped out of the blinding technique.

He looked at Mei Hu and saw indeed a fur baby.

The Golden Winged Great Peng's face turned blue and white in fury, feeling his anger boiling over.

*As the majestic Cloud Roc spanning tens of thousands of miles, he had kissed a pile of miscellaneous fur, and fortunately realized in time, otherwise…*

"Outrageous, that Fox Demon dared to trick me!"

He picked up the Painted Pole Sky Halberd, "I'll head to Huaguo Mountain and capture her."

"Great King."

The little demons were startled, "There are many Independent Immortals at Huaguo Mountain, and there's the Spiritual Network, you must be careful!"

"I doubt those Independent Immortals would dare to confront me."

The Golden Winged Great Peng said coldly, "That Fox Demon dared to trick me, she won't be forgiven!"

*If he didn't seek justice, the demons of the world would laugh him to death.*

"You continue preparing the food and drink, I'll be back soon."

The Golden Winged Great Peng ordered as he strode out of the cave dwelling.

Meanwhile, Mei Hu and Fairy Chang'e had just flown over the East Sea, only to see a flash of golden light suddenly appear before them.

It was Sun Wukong with a stern expression.

"Great King."

Knowing her mistake, Mei Hu shrunk her head, apologizing softly.

"You don't need to say more, I already know everything."

Sun Wukong replied coldly, then grabbed Mei Hu and Fairy Chang'e in each hand.

"Hold on tight."

He instructed, transforming into a golden light, landing on Longevity Mountain.

Fairy Chang'e felt a sudden shift of the world, instantly returning to Huaguo Mountain.

*What powerful divine skills!*

*Fairy Chang'e was astounded, having never witnessed such terrifying speed even among immortals.*

"Immortal."

Sun Wukong called out for Immortal Zhenyuan.

Immortal Zhenyuan emerged, calculated with his fingers, and said, "See, I told you she would cause trouble."

"No need to worry."

Sun Wukong said, "Let Daji stay for two days, I shall handle that trouble."

Immortal Zhenyuan shook his head, it was easier said than done. If the Golden Winged Great Peng came, conflicts might arise.

"Do you really intend to protect her?"

Immortal Zhenyuan questioned.

Sun Wukong nodded.

"Then there's no other way."

Immortal Zhenyuan glared at Mei Hu, "You stay here for the next two days, go nowhere. If you step out, even the Immortals can't save you."

Mei Hu agreed humbly, realizing even in her ignorance that she had provoked an extraordinary demon.

"I will stay here for two days as well."

Fairy Chang'e said next.

Mei Hu looked at her, surprised.

"Do not misunderstand."

Fairy Chang'e stated coldly, "This was caused by me, I cannot simply walk away."

If she hadn't invited Mei Hu to the Kingdom of Aolai, perhaps the encounter with the Golden Winged Great Peng would never have happened.

"I have to leave now."

Sun Wukong suddenly felt a premonition, and with a leap, transformed into a golden light and vanished.

Daji looked on with concern, "Will the Great King be alright?"

"He will be fine."

Fairy Chang'e replied, pondering how the Golden Winged Great Peng's divine skills were so great that even the Heavenly Palace had to be cautious, yet Sun Wukong managed to deceive him with a blinding technique.

Though there was an element of cunning, it showed that his divine skills were not inferior to those of the Golden Winged Great Peng.

"Let's go inside."

Immortal Zhenyuan led the two into Wuzhuang Temple.

Elsewhere, Sun Wukong arrived at the East Sea to intercept another burst of golden light.

"Who are you to dare block my path!"

The Golden Winged Great Peng shouted.

*"It's really him..."*

*Sun Wukong thought to himself.*

*He had known from the start that this guy was bound to bring disaster.*

*But Sun Wukong hadn't expected that just one outing would lead to an encounter with this guy.*

"You are Sun Wukong."

The Golden Winged Great Peng guessed his identity, seeing Sun Wukong's golden glow, "All the better, you are the Great King of Huaguo Mountain, hand over Mei Hu now."

"No."

Sun Wukong refused.

"Do you know who I am?"

The Golden Winged Great Peng laughed loudly, "One letter from me to Lingshan, and all five hundred Arhats would greet me; one note to the Heavenly Palace, and the eleven True Monarchs, each one admires me..."

He boasted about his connections, finishing with, "Have you the courage to offend me, a little Immortal like you?"

The Golden Winged Great Peng was prideful and fearless of even the Tathāgata, so how could he regard Sun Wukong highly?

Sun Wukong chuckled, "Whether or not I dare, we have to fight to know."

"You have some gall."

The Golden Winged Great Peng put away his Painted Pole Sky Halberd, "You are unarmed, so I won't use mine either, lest others say I bully the weak."

The two of them flashed onto the battlefield, clashing fiercely in mid-air.

One had cultivated since the beginning of Chaos, strong and noble; the other was a naturally born divine monkey with infinite transformations, possessing the Immortal Body of Primordial Chaos.

Both were peerless in the world, battling from the sky to the sea, and back again, with fists agitating the clouds and feet stirring the ocean waves, while within a hundred miles, fish and crabs fled, and the world changed color.

The magnitude of their struggle was so vast that it unleashed fierce winds in the Kingdom of Aolai, toppling forest trees and roaring sea waves. The dragons at the seaside had to establish a barrier to barely withstand it.

The two of them tangled for a day and a night without determining a winner.

The Immortal of Colossal Spirit flew down from the sky.

"Will the two of you please cease!"

He avoided their sharp edges from afar, shouting, "Monkey King, at this rate, the Kingdom of Aolai will be submerged!"

Sun Wukong, hearing this, quickly stopped fighting.

*He had known that the Golden Winged Great Peng was formidable, but he hadn't imagined just how powerful he was, choosing to fight him over the sea, it had affected the Kingdom of Aolai a hundred miles away.*

The Golden Winged Great Peng saw Sun Wukong stopping and retreated ten miles away.

"That golden-furred monkey is formidable, I must be wary of any tricks."

The Golden Winged Great Peng suppressed his contempt.

Though the fight seemed even, in truth, Sun Wukong had a slight upper hand; the Golden Winged Great Peng originally wanted to drag the battlefield towards Huaguo Mountain to obstruct Sun Wukong's movements, but he ended up being pushed back a few miles instead.

"Monkey King."

The Immortal of Colossal Spirit said, "The Jade Emperor asked me to tell you, for such a trivial demon fox, handing her over would suffice, why resort to warfare?"

Sun Wukong snorted coldly.

"No."

He refused.

The Immortal of Colossal Spirit's expression immediately soured.

The Golden Winged Great Peng was furious.

"Insolent monkey, you don't know what's good for you!"

He waved his hand, and the Painted Pole Sky Halberd appeared in his grasp.

Sun Wukong also took out a small leaf from his mouth.

The Golden Winged Great Peng burst into laughter, "Such a pitiful weapon, no wonder you wouldn't bring it out!"

Sun Wukong waved it in the wind, and the Palm Leaf Fan returned to its original form.

"No more play for today, let's fight another time."

With a flick of the Palm Leaf Fan, the Golden Winged Great Peng, who was laughing heartily, instantly vanished from sight.

The Immortal of Colossal Spirit looked on at the scene in shock, his jaw about to drop.

Sun Wukong, however, no longer paid attention, turning to return to Longevity Mountain.
