Immortal Master Erlang was building an island at Huaguo Mountain. The Four Sea Dragon Kings all came to help.
After several bustling days, a new island was completed and named 'Guanjiang Island.'
Immortal Master Erlang moved into the new island with the Meishan Six Saints and over a thousand of Erlang's infantry. The Four Sea Dragon Kings took their leave one after another, except for East Sea Dragon King Ao Guang, who stayed briefly as a guest at the White Dragon Palace.
Ao Luan was curious about how quickly they worked.
"Immortal Master Erlang has a noble status, he couldn't afford not to try his best."
Ao Guang told his daughter. Immortal Master Erlang was the nephew of the Jade Emperor. Although rumors said they didn't get along well, they were still relatives.
"Immortal."
Before leaving, Ao Guang said to Sun Wukong, "Immortal Master Erlang owes you. If he seeks to ask the Crystal Palace for weapons in the future, please, Immortal, speak a few words on my behalf."
Sun Wukong was a bit surprised. "What weapons does he want to ask for?"
"To be honest," Ao Guang said, "A few days ago, when you fought with Immortal Master Erlang, a piece of Divine Iron at the seabed shimmered brilliantly. I guessed it must be fated to Immortal Master Erlang, but I didn't want to give it to him easily."
Sun Wukong fell into contemplation.
*The Ocean Stabilizing God Needle was shining brightly, probably because his fighting spirit aroused it, and it had nothing to do with Immortal Master Erlang.*
*The East Sea Dragon King mistook the situation and hadn't suspected Sun Wukong, as the Ocean Stabilizing God Needle hadn't shown any sign of movement during the two decades Sun Wukong frequently visited the Crystal Palace.*
Sun Wukong agreed with the Dragon King.
After Ao Guang left, Gold Star Taibai brought down an imperial edict.
The purpose of his descent this time was, of course, to convey the Jade Emperor's wish to meet Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong accepted the imperial edict, "When?"
"Tomorrow,"
Gold Star Taibai replied, then patted his head, "Another half-year's time."
A day in heaven hadn't yet passed, and by the next day, half a year would have passed in the lower world.
"Then there's no hurry."
Sun Wukong summoned the Barefoot Immortal, asking him to guide Gold Star Taibai around Yunxiao City.
After the two left, Sun Wukong took the imperial edict and sought out Immortal Zhenyuan.
Immortal Zhenyuan was repairing the barrier for Mei Hu by the lake.
Mei Hu's barrier had stopped Immortal Master Erlang, and upon hearing about this, Immortal Zhenyuan took a great interest in it and took on the task of repairing the barrier himself.
"I see... those Demon Kings are quite clever..."
While repairing, Immortal Zhenyuan was also studying the techniques used by the Demon Kings.
When Sun Wukong arrived, he was nearly done with the repairs.
"Immortal."
Sun Wukong called out.
"Wait a moment, dear brother."
Immortal Zhenyuan cast several spells, surrounding the entire lake with clouds and mist.
"All done." He clapped his hands and turned to Sun Wukong, "Better than before."
Sun Wukong used his golden gaze to scan the new barrier.
This barrier was established relying on the energy of nearby nodes, and apart from its appearance, there was no essential change.
Due to being based on the node's energy, this barrier was ineffective against Sun Wukong.
He withdrew his gaze and said, "I want to ask about some things concerning the Jade Emperor."
Immortal Zhenyuan took one look at the imperial edict in his hand and immediately understood the reason.
"You've decided to ascend to heaven?"
"Of course, I must go."
Sun Wukong nodded. Rarely having such an opportunity, he wished to meet the Jade Emperor in person.
However, a meeting didn't mean taking up a position, and even if he did, Sun Wukong didn't want to live in the Heavenly Palace.
He shared some of these thoughts with Immortal Zhenyuan.
Immortal Zhenyuan nodded, "I see no problem. The Great Venerable is not inflexible."
Feeling a bit thirsty, his eyes rolled slyly as he said.
"If you wish to understand the Great Venerable, you may... but I haven't tasted Flower Dew for quite a while."
Sun Wukong helplessly led him towards Flower Valley.
"On this visit to heaven,"
Immortal Zhenyuan asked, "are you going to tell the Great Venerable those four words?"
"I have that in mind."
Sun Wukong replied.
Immortal Zhenyuan thought seriously for a moment. Sun Wukong's visit to heaven this time might not be a bad thing.
The two reached Flower Valley.
Immortal Zhenyuan chuckled happily, "Having not visited for so long, this time I must drink to my fill."
"That's why the flower spirits dislike you."
Sun Wukong laughed.
Immortal Zhenyuan was eager to drink Flower Dew, but as he entered Flower Valley, the scene ahead drastically changed his expression.
Amidst the hundreds of flowers lay a Golden Cicada, with an undried lotus leaf by its head.
"Good heavens!"
Immortal Zhenyuan roared in anger, "He came to Flower Valley to steal food!"
At this moment, in the Western Heaven on Spirit Vulture Mountain, in the Thunderclap Monastery, Elder Jin Chanzi's true form was listening to the Buddha's teachings.
Halfway through his sermon, the Tathāgata suddenly asked the elder, "Have you uncovered Sun Wukong's ulterior motive?"
Elder Jin Chanzi clasped his hands in a gesture of respect and shook his head, "Disciple has yet to find it."
The Tathāgata laughed, "It's not your fault. Your mana is limited, and you cannot perceive everything in the universe, nor recognize all things under heaven."
"Buddha..."
The Four Bodhisattvas stepped forward and asked, "Can Sun Wukong truly convert to our teachings?"
"There is no need for doubt,"
The Tathāgata said, "Sun Wukong excels in both literary and martial capabilities, surpassing all of you. In the future, he will surely become the Supreme Buddha of our teachings."
The Bodhisattvas were all surprised, "Buddha, have you already seen through Sun Wukong?"
The Tathāgata shook his head. While he could recognize all things under heaven, he couldn't see through Sun Wukong's depths.
But it didn't matter, as he had seen something even more important.
"Buddha." The Bodhisattva Guanyin asked, "Sun Wukong is going to meet the Jade Emperor now, I fear it might..."
"No worries."
The Tathāgata said with a smile, "You all must remain calm and wait. Sun Wukong is a child of our Buddhist faith. No matter what changes occur, the karma he has formed will not sever."
Everyone joined their hands in agreement.
Elder Jin Chanzi, however, was filled with doubt.
The Tathāgata noticed the doubt on his disciple's face and was about to speak when he saw Elder Jin Chanzi tremble all over, clasp his hands in salutation, and his True Spirit descended to the lower realm.
"Elder Jin Chanzi!"
In Flower Valley, Immortal Zhenyuan kicked Elder Jin Chanzi awake with one foot.
"Why are you here stealing Flower Dew!"
"Amitābha."
Elder Jin Chanzi rose and said, "This Flower Dew was given to me by the flower spirits."
"You must have tricked them!"
Immortal Zhenyuan was full of anger.
Elder Jin Chanzi shook his head and turned to look at Sun Wukong, only to see him receiving Flower Dew from the flower spirits and dividing it into three portions to pass over.
"Why must you two argue?"
Sun Wukong's smile seemed to be radiating light.
"Sinful, sinful..."
Elder Jin Chanzi sighed inwardly.
*He found himself somewhat afraid of losing such a life.*
