The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 170: Hongmeng Small World

Chaos, a golden sea of fire surged violently, brighter than the sun, taking a while before finally dissipating.

Sun Wukong restrained his breath, carrying a birdcage, and returned to the side of the Jade Emperor.

"It's over."

He spoke.

"Over?"

The Jade Emperor felt it incredulous, looking towards where the sea of fire had dissipated: "Where are the immortal ones?"

"Here."

Sun Wukong's hand flashed, revealing two shackles: "I defeated them, their divine souls have returned inside."

"You captured them!"

The Jade Emperor saw the shackles, somewhat shocked.

Erqing stepped forward: "Heavenly Emperor, perhaps hand these two shackles over to us."

Although not as fond of studying as Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, they too were curious about the immortal ones.

Sun Wukong nodded, having the crow, he seemed to no longer need these two immortal ones.

He handed the shackles to Erqing, then returned to the Virtue Palace to inquire about the Pangu Sky Splitting Axe from the crow.

Upon hearing his purpose, the crow could not help but laugh.

"Impossible, no one can create the Pangu Sky Splitting Axe."

The crow said: "It is a holy object used by Pangu to pioneer Hongmeng, the immortal ones had the same idea as you, but they too failed after billions of years."

"I'm not attempting to create the Sky-opening Axe."

Sun Wukong lightly replied: "I know it's impossible."

He had seen the Sky-opening Axe, although only briefly, but clearly felt that the axe's power was too immense, beyond his capacity to create.

"What do you want to do then?"

The crow grew curious.

"I have already found the Pangu Sky Splitting Axe."

Sun Wukong answered: "It has lost its form, I want to create a shell for it."

"You found the Sky-opening Axe?"

The crow was startled, staring at Sun Wukong with wide eyes: "Where is it?"

Sun Wukong did not answer.

"If you won't answer, never mind..."

The crow turned its blood-red eyes: "If it's just making a shell, then it might be possible."

It asked Sun Wukong: "That egg is still with you, right?"

"Yep."

Sun Wukong nodded.

"Then there's a way."

The crow and Sun Wukong talked for a long time, and after finishing, it couldn't help but yawn: "I should sleep now."

"Sleeping?"

Sun Wukong frowned: "I still have other things I want to know."

"Next time, my head is filled with too much, I need to sleep two out of three days."

The crow said: "It's time now."

"Alright."

Sun Wukong nodded: "I'll release you from the cage, find you a tree to rest."

"You're letting me out!"

This statement gave the crow a big shock.

"Wait, you can't break the cage!"

It cried in panic: "I'll die if I leave!"

"Die?"

Sun Wukong surveyed the crow, his eyes sparkling like Divine Fire: "I don't see any curse on you, why would you die?"

"That's none of your business."

The crow spoke, then yawned, tucked its head under its wing and fell asleep.

Sun Wukong watched for a while, then hung the birdcage up.

The next day, the Jade Emperor came to Sun Wukong at dawn, the morning light drenched him in gold.

"Imperial Brother, have you found a method?"

The Jade Emperor asked.

"There is one method."

Sun Wukong replied: "We can mimic Hongmeng and create a small world, in which to craft the Sky-opening Axe."

Although they couldn't make a real Sky-opening Axe, they could mimic the Hongmeng World and create a 'shell'.

This 'shell' would attract the Sky-opening Axe roaming the Three Realms, merging into a true Sky-opening Axe.

"Mimic Hongmeng, create a small world."

The Jade Emperor felt troubled: "Is it feasible?"

"Theoretically, yes."

Sun Wukong answered.

The structure of Hongmeng's Land was within the egg inside him; using it as a foundation, along with the Hongmeng Totems acquired by Sun Wukong, theoretically, he should be able to create a fictional Hongmeng small world.

The only problem was...

"Is there not enough time?"

The Jade Emperor was surprised: "Isn't two years enough?"

"How could it be?"

Sun Wukong shook his head.

It was about creating a world, though only a small one, it was still an extremely complex construction.

"I alone cannot do it, I need your help."

Sun Wukong said: "Creating this small world will have many problems; solving them is vitally important for the Three Realms."

"The Three Realms?"

The Jade Emperor wondered: "What do you mean?"

Sun Wukong answered: "The Three Realms will achieve power similar to Hongmeng's."

Hongmeng is a great world composed of the Four Realms.

Its greatest difference from the Three Realms is the presence of the Source Realm — and that is also the greatest uncertainty in creating the small world by Sun Wukong.

He must infuse Willpower into the small world, uncertain of what effects and problems might arise during the process, unclear even to Sun Wukong.

Without understanding these impacts, even if Sun Wukong secured the Sky-opening Axe, he couldn't confidently open the Source Realm.

For caution, he decided to leverage the power of the immortals of the Three Realms for trials.

"I will recall the Immortal back, and command him to open ten locations in the Mortal World for trials."

Sun Wukong said: "The immortals of both the Heavenly Court and Lingshan must heed my orders, please pardon me for this, Your Majesty."

"Of course."

The Jade Emperor nodded: "If needed, I will also assist."
