The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 152: Let Me Try

After the war, chaos reigned; everything became silent.

The Bodhi Tree floated amidst the chaos, splendidly radiant with millions of lights shifting and spreading endlessly.

On the ground, Buddha gazed into the chaos, sighing deeply.

The Bodhi Tree had taken form, it would no longer grow.

The Blood Lotus was sealed by the Bodhi Tree, its presence no longer perceptible.

"The war is over."

As usual, the final victor was Sun Wukong.

Buddha's heart was filled with emotion.

In the chaos, Sun Wukong watched as the Bodhi Tree ceased its growth.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; the most significant danger had been resolved.

But there was no joy on Sun Wukong's face.

One war had ended, and the White Robed Venerate had handed the Heavenly Court over to him; his responsibilities were greater than anyone else's.

He alone might not be able to handle it, but with others, it would be achievable.

"Great King."

A joyful call sounded from behind.

Sun Wukong turned and saw Daji flying over cheerfully.

"I didn't expect you to come to this battlefield."

Sun Wukong retracted the Jingu Bang and said.

There hadn't been time to talk during the battle, but he was surprised that Daji had been on the front lines.

Daji giggled.

After her laughter, she curiously asked, "What do we do now?"

"First, take over the Heavenly Court."

Sun Wukong said, carrying Daji toward a Star Palace.

All the bells in the Star Palace tolled, and all the Buddhists knelt to welcome them, packed densely, innumerable.

"So many people!"

Daji blinked, "How many are there in the Brahma Void Heavenly Court?"

"I don't know; the number of people doesn't matter."

Sun Wukong answered.

"But this is the Pure Land."

Daji voiced her concern, "How will you govern it, Great King?"

"We already have a candidate."

Sun Wukong landed on the ground, looking toward Buddha who was approaching, "Let's leave it to him."

"Amitabha."

Buddha nodded in agreement.

He was willing to take on this work.

Sun Wukong didn't want to change anything; the Star Officials that had become part of the Pure Land would remain as they were.

Someone would always need a world like this.

But for the other Star Palaces, he would not allow them to become other Pure Lands.

Time flashed by, and a few days later, the Star Palaces affected by the war had stabilized.

The Star Palace of Fanjing Mountain, as usual, was thriving with Buddha Path and Tao; Buddhists lived out their Heavenly Destiny in tranquil peace.

Sun Wukong stood upon Fanjing Mountain, looking out at the peaceful world, marvelling at Buddha's profound Divine Skills.

Suddenly, the surface of a nearby pond rippled, and Sun Wukong turned to see the reflection of the Jade Emperor.

"Is there anyone in the Heavenly Court who opposes you?"

The Jade Emperor asked.

"No."

Sun Wukong replied.

Putting aside the edict of succession from the White Robed Venerate, no one would dare oppose him based purely on strength.

Sun Wukong's position as Heavenly Emperor was very stable.

"How's the repair of that gate going?"

He asked the Jade Emperor in return.

The Light Gate, which led to the outside world, was damaged under the power of three Buddha Beads, which the Jade Emperor and his team were busy repairing.

"It's almost done."

The Jade Emperor shared with a smile, "It will be fixed in two days."

"That's good."

Sun Wukong nodded, "We need it to connect the Three Realms."

The Brahma Void Heavenly Court was newly established and required a lot of manpower for assistance.

There were also many unresolved problems in other Star Palaces, which provided good opportunities for everyone's Cultivation.

"Do you think, with the power of the Heavenly Court and the Three Realms, we can stabilize the entire Heavenly Court within two years?"

Sun Wukong inquired.

"It won't be easy."

The Jade Emperor shook his head, "The Heavenly Court is too vast; you'll need to summon Ao Luan."

"Alright."

After talking with the Jade Emperor for a moment, the pond's surface once again rippled, revealing the face of an old man.

"Sun Heavenly Emperor, you asked me to investigate the Bodhi Tree, and I have some results."

He said.

Sun Wukong frowned slightly; the old man was known as the Venerable Xuan Yuan. Although called Venerable, he was no small deal and understood the Chaos World better than Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong had asked him to investigate the Bodhi Tree.

"What's the result?"

Sun Wukong inquired.

Everyone thought everything was over, but Sun Wukong was not so optimistic.

He could feel that the Bodhi Tree was only temporarily sealing the Blood Lotus, whose aura was still growing, albeit very slowly.

"You guessed right."

Venerable Xuan Yuan told Sun Wukong, "The Blood Lotus is still there, and sooner or later it will break free from the Bodhi Tree."

"When exactly?"

Sun Wukong asked again.

"Perhaps ten years, maybe five..."

Venerable Xuan Yuan shook his head, "I can't be certain."

The aura of the Blood Lotus was too hidden; it was a Venerable's Spellwork, and he couldn't predict it entirely.

"The Heavenly Emperor might ask Emperor Yao."

Venerable Xuan Yuan suggested, "He was closest to the White Robed Venerate and has faced off against the Venerable before; perhaps he knows something."

"Emperor Yao?"

Sun Wukong frowned slightly.

Emperor Yao hadn't been attentive to him after the war; it probably wouldn't be easy to learn these things from him.

"I'll try."

Sun Wukong stated. He had seen part of Emperor Yao's memories and had a hypothesis.

After ending the conversation with the Venerable Xuan Yuan, Sun Wukong called Daji over.

"Daji, I need you to do something for me."

Sun Wukong ordered Daji.

If he wasn't wrong, that matter would greatly influence Emperor Yao.
