The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 51: No Intentions for the Time Being

After the design was finalized, Sun Wukong ordered the construction of the Royal City to begin.

Using the Mountain God plaque, he moved mountains and filled seas to sculpt a level, circular piece of land by the coast of Huaguo Mountain to serve as the foundation for the Royal City.

Gold Star Taibai had just descended to the mortal world and initially thought that Huaguo Mountain was building a sixth small island.

"So it's the Royal City, no wonder it's larger than the other islands."

After hearing Sun Wukong's explanation, Gold Star Taibai immediately congratulated him.

Sun Wukong did not know the purpose behind Gold Star Taibai's descent, but seeing his enthusiastic expression regarding the Royal City, Sun Wukong acted as his guide nonetheless.

He provided a detailed introduction of the Royal City's planning, and Gold Star Taibai was full of praise.

"I remember you were building a Floating City."

However, there was one point that confused Gold Star Taibai: "Why build it by the sea?"

"We need to finish building it before it can float up."

Sun Wukong answered, "The location by the sea is chosen for the convenience of transporting construction materials."

Gold Star Taibai nodded, then asked, "After the Floating City is built, will it also descend to the sea surface for transporting materials?"

Sun Wukong shook his head and took Gold Star Taibai to the construction site.

"We are building a port right now."

The first part of the Royal City under construction was the port, bustling with activity and already taking shape.

"This will not only be a sea port, but also a Floating Port."

Sun Wukong told Gold Star Taibai, "After the Royal City ascends, we will create some Floating Spaceships for the exchange and transportation of goods, as well as for developing trade."

"Floating Spaceships?"

Gold Star Taibai was shocked, but then he thought that if Huaguo Mountain could build a Floating City, what's so strange about Floating Spaceships.

"The Monkey King has truly opened my eyes."

Gold Star Taibai sighed, as the changes in Huaguo Mountain were rapid. Just a few days had passed in heaven, and the demons had already started constructing the Royal City.

At this rate, the Royal City might well be completed by the time he descends again.

The transformation of the Monkey King himself was also swift.

"He has truly become a Merit Immortal."

Gold Star Taibai glanced at Sun Wukong and could see the golden light flickering in his eyes.

There was no need to ask further about merit.

"Monkey King..."

After viewing the Royal City, Gold Star Taibai decided to reveal the purpose of his visit.

At that moment, however, a Demon King descended from the sky.

"Great King," he reported good news to Sun Wukong.

Gold Star Taibai too was curious about this news, so he followed Sun Wukong to Yongchun Island.

On Yongchun Island, the demons had created a white granular substance that could be used as fertilizer.

These granules dissolved in water in specific proportions and sprinkled on crops, perform far beyond ordinary soil fertilizer.

Of course, the granules created by the demons still fell short compared to the fertilizers recorded in the Heavenly Book.

But Sun Wukong was already satisfied — at least the demons had forged a new path.

He had indeed intended to bring out the fertilizers from the Heavenly Book, but after long attempts, he realized that without a massive industrial system and process, it was a pipe dream.

"What did you use as a substitute for sweet dew?"

Sun Wukong asked the demons.

Ever since Golden Cicada's arrival, he had learned the method of making sweet dew water.

The reason why it's called sweet dew is that it really is made from the sweet dew — which is created when plants like Lingzhi Immortal Grass absorb the Sun and Moon Essence, resulting in some spiritual sweet dew as the main ingredient, collected over long durations and refined through Daoist Skill to finally produce a small bottle.

Sun Wukong and Immortal Zhenyuan greatly reduced the quality requirements of sweet dew, allowing it to be harvested from the sweet dew of most plants.

They then simplified the Daoist Skill refinement process, making it possible for demons to master the technique.

Demons were able to produce dew nectar a year ago, not nearly the same as the real dew nectar, but sufficient as fertilizer — the problem is, this type of nectar could still only be used on a small scale, not widely available.

Sun Wukong was very curious about what the demons used as the main ingredient instead of dew nectar.

"The main ingredient is the one recommended by the Great King."

The demons replied happily.

"So it's feces..."

Sun Wukong didn't continue, because Gold Star Taibai was studying the granules with a fascinated expression.

After all, he couldn't say that these granules were actually sifted excrement.

The technique of the demons had its limits, being able to refine the fertilizing effect of excrement and compress it was not an easy task.

Gold Star Taibai finished examining the granules, sniffed his hand and furrowed his brow slightly.

The granules had no foul odor, but for some reason, he felt something was amiss.

"Monkey King, please forgive my bluntness."

Gold Star Taibai put his hand behind his back and said, "With just a spell of Immortal Law, the plants of Huaguo Mountain will prosper. What's the use of doing all this?"

It's no wonder the immortals in heaven look down upon Sun Wukong.

Seeing the granules, Gold Star Taibai was quite disappointed — he didn't understand why Huaguo Mountain would expend such effort to research something immortals could achieve effortlessly.

The inventions were one thing, but studying these granules seemed unnecessary.

"The Immortal Law of the immortals is temporary, local, it's charity."

Sun Wukong answered, "I want to find simpler solutions."

Gold Star Taibai shook his head: "That's very difficult."

"Shouldn't we at least give it a try?"

Sun Wukong smiled, saying how could they know the outcome without trying.

He was not concerned with the present but was looking far into the future; the demons' granules might seem insignificant, and their technological content wasn't very high.

However, as long as the right direction is found and technological reserves are prepared, letting demons research for hundreds to thousands of years, Sun Wukong didn't believe they wouldn't develop something impressive.

"You immortals do not even want to solve the problem."

Sun Wukong said casually, "Yet it would be simpler if you did."

Gold Star Taibai's heart skipped a beat, he looked up at Sun Wukong, then started to smile bitterly.

"Who could possess your wisdom, Monkey King?"

Sun Wukong's idea seemed simple, but it came from the wisdom of the Heavenly Book.

Without a deep understanding of historical development, how could they see clearly?

Gold Star Taibai could not see through Sun Wukong, but he understood that Sun Wukong's inner thoughts were different from theirs.

"Monkey King, I would like to invite you to heaven to take an official position."

Gold Star Taibai expressed his purpose for this visit.

Sun Wukong was momentarily stunned, then his thoughts raced.

What did Gold Star Taibai mean by this? Could it be that the Jade Emperor had agreed to invite him to heaven?

No, it certainly wasn't like that...

If the Jade Emperor had sent Gold Star Taibai to the mortal world, how could he dare delay, he should have mentioned it upon meeting.

Visiting the Royal City, coming to Yongchun Island to see the fertilizer — it must have been Gold Star Taibai's own decision to descend and play the role of an envoy.

Sun Wukong's mind settled down.

"I have no intention of going to heaven for the time being."

He thanked Gold Star Taibai for his kind offer.

Gold Star Taibai did not expect him to refuse, but then he considered that it wasn't a complete refusal.

No intention for the time being implies that he might be willing in the future.
