The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 409: Resolute Will

Sun Wukong frowned slightly.

"Your Majesty,"

In the distance, Emperor Qinghua saw this scene and hurriedly called Gouchen to join in support.

"Stop!"

Someone shouted, as eighteen figures with scarlet bodies blocked their path.

Emperor Gouchen paused, then realized they were eighteen Arhats.

These eighteen Arhats were the most outstanding among the five hundred Arhats, consisting of sixteen Arhats and two Venerables, all disciples of the Buddha.

Without their robes, Emperor Gouchen almost didn't recognize them.

"Your robes..."

Just as Emperor Gouchen was about to ask, Emperor Qinghua was anxious to rescue Sun Wukong.

"Get out of the way!"

He shouted, divine power surging from his center, sending the eighteen Arhats flying back, their immortal bodies cracking inch by inch.

"I'm coming!"

Randeng Ancient Buddha rushed over, clashing with Emperor Qinghua's divine power in a great collision!

The five hundred Arhats, seeing Sun Wukong trapped, held nothing back, activated their magic artifacts, and charged at the two Heavenly Venerates with a shout.

Heaven and earth resounded with explosions like muffled thunder as Buddhist Law and Immortal Law engaged in fierce confrontation.

The five hundred Arhats charged into the battlefield one after another, only to fall back to the ground in clusters.

The sky was illuminated by the blazing flames of war, brilliant and dazzling like ignited firewood.

What power Emperor Gouchen and Emperor Qinghua wielded, almost suppressing the entire Lingshan.

Yet, for a moment, they also couldn't break through the blockade.

The shackles on Sun Wukong grew tighter and tighter.

"World Venerable, it's not enough,"

the Buddha said.

The World Venerable nodded, speeding up his chanting.

"Clatter!" "Clatter!"

At this moment, countless figures descended like a waterfall from the sky, landing on the golden lotuses.

Sun Wukong raised his head, seeing the sky filled with Buddha Light, as phantoms of spiritual Buddhas manifested on the golden lotuses, solemn and sacred.

The Yaoshi Buddha, Pure Joy Buddha, Virochana Buddha, Treasured Banner Buddha, Immeasurable Life Buddha, Guiding Truth Buddha...

Almost all the Buddhas Sun Wukong knew had assembled here to suppress him, chanting the same Buddhist scripture.

Sanskrit surrounded Sun Wukong from all directions.

"What a grand formation!"

Sun Wukong laughed in extreme anger, as a giant light figure rose behind him.

Jingu Bang was held in the hands of the light figure, stretching high as it transformed into a brilliant column of light, sweeping across the sky destructively.

In an instant, countless golden lotuses shattered, and some spiritual Buddhas disappeared within the column of light.

Yet in the blink of an eye, they reappeared on another golden lotus, those that had vanished soon restored.

"What's going on?"

Sun Wukong widened his eyes.

These golden lotuses seemed to construct a Heavenly Dao Domain!

All the Buddhas sat serenely upon them, no matter how Sun Wukong attempted to destroy, they remained unharmed.

The sky's Sanskrit grew denser, those radiant scripts like countless chains, suppressing Sun Wukong in a tight grip.

This was nearing a realm Sun Wukong had never reached.

This domain was a sublimation of the Heavenly Dao. If thoroughly comprehended, every action would resonate with it, mysteries inexpressible.

This sky gave Sun Wukong a similar feeling.

All Buddhas united, constructing a Heavenly Dao Domain to restrain him.

"I refuse to believe it!"

Sun Wukong invoked his divine skills, immortal text surged from within him, spreading densely across the sky, crashing towards the surrounding blockade.

Those immortal runes surged, transforming into countless giant hammers and heavy swords, ceaselessly striking the surroundings.

The strikes emitted thunderous roars, deafeningly loud, divine power waves surged in all directions, brilliantly illuminating the void.

Yet the result remained unchanged.

When those golden lotuses vanished, they were reborn immediately.

The Buddhas upon them remained unharmed.

Lingji Bodhisattva, witnessing this scene, was overjoyed.

"Sun Wukong is exhausted, isn't this a great opportunity?"

Lingji Bodhisattva said, "Now attacking Sun Wukong will surely be a great achievement."

"You're right,"

Some of the Arhats besieging Gouchen and Qinghua turned at these words, mobilizing divine power, transforming into golden giants charging at Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong glanced back, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes, those giants seemed controlled by something, unable to advance an inch.

The Arhats were horrified, *what kind of power was this? To stop them with just a gaze!*

"Stay away from me,"

Sun Wukong coldly shouted.

With a "Boom," the Arhats were sent flying, some of those close by even coughed up blood, plummeting from the sky.

"Such powerful divine skills!"

Lingji Bodhisattva was astonished, "Sun Wukong is as powerful as the Buddha, everyone stay away!"

The surrounding Arhats cast glances over, *Are you serious?*

After this brief interlude, the Arhats no longer dared approach Sun Wukong.

The brief interruption did not affect Sun Wukong.

He continued to strike at the golden lotuses in the sky, while quickly contemplating a strategy.

It was then Sun Wukong suddenly noticed something.

During Jingu Bang's assault, some red mist leaked from the shattered golden lotuses.

Though sparse, those golden lotuses indeed seemed like flesh and blood.

Could it be—

Sun Wukong suddenly came to enlightenment, finally understanding.

"So that's it..."

Sun Wukong's expression was shocked, "Buddha, you used flesh to seal me!"

The Buddha dissolved his flesh, infusing divine skills within his blood and flesh, meticulously refining them into those countless golden lotuses.

Those golden lotuses were the embodiment of his blood and flesh!

He was offering up himself!

"Buddha, how do you plan to triumph?"

Sun Wukong loudly asked, "If you do this, even if you seal me, you will perish."

"Even so,"

A sacred ripple echoed across the sky, the voice of Tathāgata swept across the heavens.

A vitreous phantom appeared in the sky, crystal clear and brilliant, encompassing Sun Wukong and the Lotus Array, sacred and dignified.

"I don't need to win,"

The Buddha revealed his True Spirit, "I just need to stop you."

Sun Wukong was greatly shocked.

In the next moment, the World Venerable finished his recitation.

The lotus flower upon which he sat suddenly brightened.

Every golden lotus began to shine, converging to form a massive lotus seat, like a towering mountain, hovering above Sun Wukong.

"Go!"

The Buddha commanded, and the lotus seat descended from the sky.

As the massive lotus seat fell, the clouds within a ten-mile radius parted to both sides, the violent roar sent all the immortals nearby flying, even forcing Gouchen and Emperor Qinghua back beyond Lingshan.

"Your Majesty!"

Emperor Qinghua looked on in horror at the slowly descending massive lotus seat in the distance.

The lotus seat seemed slow, but was truly just massive.

Sun Wukong, suppressed by the lotus seat, fell toward the ground, the wind whistling past his ears, making him feel as if his body was being slashed by blades.

"Why?"

Sun Wukong braced himself, "Why go to such lengths?"

The Buddha breaking his vow and killing, even willing to sacrifice himself to seal him, was it truly necessary?

"Why is my Heavenly Dao not permissible to others?"

He asked loudly.

"Beyond the Three Realms, there is great terror,"

The Buddha replied to him, "I will not allow you to lead beings out."

Sun Wukong scoffed, "Even so..."

"Even so, you still won't stop,"

The Buddha answered for him, "With a steadfast heart aiming forward, nothing would change you regardless."

Since it couldn't be changed, it had to be suppressed.
