The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 261: No Fun Anymore

The library, Sweeping Star was feeding the squirrel with dried fruits.

"Red pine, spruce, fir, larch, Scots pine, and hazelnut dried fruits and seeds... these are all its favorites."

Sweeping Star said, "It's very easy to care for. When there's no food, it will also eat things like tree buds and mushrooms."

Sun Wukong nodded.

It seems this squirrel can eat just about anything.

However, what surprised him was that he would meet Sweeping Star in the library.

What's more surprising is that Sweeping Star is also the manager of the Wanling Library.

"Why are you managing the library?"

Sun Wukong asked.

"You think I'm not qualified?"

Sweeping Star glanced at him. This youth named 'Wu Xing' was odd, showing no fear of her at all.

Not only that, but his tone was also bolder than that of ordinary mortals.

"I won't affect others by being here."

Sweeping Star wasn't angry, and continued, "Perhaps this was Great Saint's intentional arrangement."

Before Sun Wukong went to sleep, he indeed left the Rune creation method related to Sweeping Star in the library.

"They haven't managed to create the Runes?"

Sun Wukong thought, it was not his intention to keep Sweeping Star trapped in the library forever.

He specifically looked around the library and found an Immortal Book related to Sweeping Star, which obviously had been browsed through.

The Runes on it were not simple, but the Grandmasters should be able to create them.

"Haven't they done it?"

As Sun Wukong was pondering, several voices called out to him from behind.

He turned his head and saw the demons that had been researching creation with him at Wanling Hall.

"Wu Xing, did you hear you're leaving Wanling Hall?"

The demons asked.

"Yeah."

Sun Wukong put the book back on the shelf and nodded, "I have a more important task to attend to."

The demons were somewhat surprised.

Is there a task more important than Wanling Creation?

They pulled Sun Wukong out of the library, wanting to hold a farewell banquet for him.

"Let's go to my place!"

One of the female demons said, "My family's shop is one of the best in Wanling City."

"No."

The other demons immediately refused, "We don't eat bird's nest."

The female demon's mother was a golden swiftlet; her family's bird nests were very popular delicacies in Wanling City, but thinking about the origin of the bird nests, the demons accompanying her had no desire to eat them.

"Let's eat noodles instead."

Sun Wukong took the initiative to suggest, as he hadn't heard any news about noodles since he returned.

"My place serves noodles too."

The female demon immediately said, "Let's go to my place."

"I want to go to Bull Demon King's place."

Sun Wukong answered.

"That's also my family's shop."

The female demon said.

Sun Wukong was stunned for a moment: "Bull Demon King is a relative of yours?"

"No."

The female demon shook her head, "He moved to live with the Jade-faced Fox of Huaguo Mountain, and we bought his shop."

Sun Wukong thought to himself, so that's how it is.

No wonder he hadn't heard any news about Bull Demon King.

The group arrived at the noodle shop, and inside, Sun Wukong saw an acquaintance.

Peng Demon King was standing there.

"Father."

The female demon called out to him.

Sun Wukong realized it was his daughter.

Time is indeed frightening.

Sun Wukong thought, in the blink of an eye, many have changed.

The demons sat down to eat noodles.

"Sweeping Star voluntarily stayed in the library."

In the meantime, they answered Sun Wukong's question about Sweeping Star: "She occasionally comes out for a stroll."

It looks like the Runes must have already been created.

"Wu Xing, what exactly were you assigned to do?"

The demons felt curious, "Will you continue to research the Immortal Literature Hall after you leave?"

Just finished their research on the Wanling Tree, the next Immortal Literature Hall was of equal importance.

The Immortal Literature Hall, planned by Immortal Zhenyuan, was a Grotto Heaven Blessed Land established in imitation of a library, where the Spiritual Energy inside was isolated from the outside world. It could conjure up various scenes for creating and testing Immortal Texts, and even collecting information, all of which played an extremely significant role.

"With you here, it would take no more than a few years to build the Immortal Literature Hall."

The demons said.

"It's okay."

Sun Wukong smiled and said, "I can also do research outside."

He had almost completely absorbed what the Wanling Country had to offer, and he could continue the research on his own.

The Immortal Literature Hall was an object that had to be studied. The development of Wanling Immortal Path was too rapid; it urgently needed to improve some infrastructure for management.

After finishing the ramen, it wasn't long before the Immortal Official of Wanling Hall once again led Sun Wukong to Ao Luan.

"This is for you."

Ao Luan handed him a bracelet, "You can go to the Southern Continent now."

"What is this?"

Sun Wukong looked curiously at the bracelet.

"The latest improved scroll."

Ao Luan answered, "Scrolls are difficult to carry; this bracelet can hold more Immortal Techniques."

Sun Wukong wore the bracelet on his left hand.

"Your responsible area is here."

Ao Luan then took out a map to inform him about the area where 'Wu Xing' was to spread regulations.

Listening to her explanation, Sun Wukong deduced from the size of the area that there had to be no less than sixty people working on this task simultaneously.

"Can I contact the others?"

Sun Wukong asked.

"No."

Ao Luan said coldly, "For safety's sake, there's no need for you to coordinate with each other."

"Isn't this just like sending us out on a suicide mission?"

Sun Wukong thought to himself and frowned slightly.

"When it's done, I'll reward you with an Immortal Pill."

Ao Luan said finally, "It will let you live two thousand more years."

That reward was enough for a mere mortal.

Sun Wukong accepted the task and turned to leave Wanling Hall.

"Remember one thing."

Before he left, Ao Luan's voice reminded him from behind.

"No matter what those Immortals and Buddhas say, you must not believe them."

Sun Wukong paused in his steps.

"Wanling must be kept in our control."

Ao Luan said coldly.

Sun Wukong stepped out of Wanling Hall, lightly sighed.

Maybe I've put too much pressure on her.

He thought.

Loneliness and hatred can change a person; Ao Luan has changed a bit.

However, there will always be various surprises in this world.

Sun Wukong quickly let it go; as long as he includes surprises in his calculations, he would be fine.

An Immortal Official approached Sun Wukong, "I'll take you down."

"No need."

Sun Wukong tucked the squirrel into his bosom and jumped down from the sky.

The Immortal Official looked down and saw a light forming wings on his back, transforming him into a bird, flying towards the distant East.

"Is he really a mortal?"

The Immortal Official was stupefied.

Could a mortal achieve such wind-riding spells?

Eastern Divine Continent.

"Your Majesty."

Gold Star Taibai found the Jade Emperor, "That Fairy has made her move."

The Jade Emperor smiled faintly, "How many?"

"Two hundred."

Gold Star Taibai answered.

"Two hundred?"

The Jade Emperor laughed dryly, "She underestimates me too much."

After the Imperial Brother fell into slumber, the game was no longer amusing.
