The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 187: I Want to Become an Immortal (1/4)

Azure-blue sky suddenly streaked with ten streamers of light.

"Come back!"

After a crisp shout, the ten streamers of light swiftly turned around and landed in front of Ao Luan.

These were ten Immortal Swords, paired two by two, each shimmering with a different kind of luster.

"Success."

Ao Luan joyfully looked at the Immortal Swords; each sword seemed to sense her delight, emitting a faint humming sound.

Her Sword Control Technique had been mastered.

"Revert."

Upon Ao Luan's command, the ten Immortal Swords immediately merged into one, their brilliance faded, transforming into an ordinary wooden sword that landed in her hand.

"Grandmaster's Daoist Skills are truly magical."

Ao Luan fastened the wooden sword at her waist.

Since the establishment of the Six Palaces, the daily tasks she needed to handle had significantly reduced, and over the years, she focused on training many young individuals who could now independently handle some work.

Ao Luan, being a Dragon Princess, was naturally talented; now having ample time for cultivation, her Divine Skills grew stronger day by day.

"I wonder where my brother has gone..."

Ao Luan turned back to look at Wanling Hall; although she had time, Sun Wukong was nowhere to be seen every morning, making it impossible for her to have breakfast with him.

"Forget it, let's go to the noodle shop."

Taking advantage of the nice weather, Ao Luan decided to treat herself at the Bull Demon King's noodle shop.

Early in the morning, the noodle shop wasn't very crowded, which made it quite tranquil.

Ao Luan walked straight to the VIP area.

The view was better here, separated from the main hall by screens, with spacious seating and more delicately furnished tables and chairs.

"Miss Ao Luan, it's been a while since your last visit."

Just as she sat down, a Rabbit Demon came over with tea: "What would you like to eat today?"

Ao Luan casually ordered her favorite ramen, then looked around the VIP area, where only a boy was eating alone.

"It's really quiet today."

Just as Ao Luan finished this thought, a striking figure entered the VIP area.

"Ao Luan!"

It was Daji, who, upon spotting Ao Luan, immediately stormed over, fuming.

"Are you scheming against me?"

She leaned her hands on the table and asked, "Did you instruct Thousand-mile Eye and Sharp-Hearing Ear?"

"What?"

Ao Luan slightly frowned.

Engrossed in daily tasks and deep cultivation, she would have forgotten about this trivial matter if Daji hadn't mentioned it.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

She feigned ignorance to the end.

"Don't lie to me!"

Daji glared at her: "It was you."

"Oh."

Ao Luan responded absentmindedly, then suddenly sniffed and looked around.

Daji grew somewhat angry: "Don't change the subject! I'm not done yet!"

Ao Luan, not seeing the person she wished to, supported her chin and daydreamed, letting Daji's words go in one ear and out the other, paying no attention to them.

As the Rabbit Demon served the ramen, Ao Luan asked, "Did my brother come by today?"

The Rabbit Demon was startled: "How did you know?"

"I smelled it."

Ao Luan answered, "His Immortal Energy is here."

"Can you even smell that?"

The Rabbit Demon was quite surprised, but still responded, "The Great King comes here every other day for breakfast."

Ao Luan was a bit surprised; no wonder she rarely saw her brother in the mornings, he was coming here?

He liked the Bull Demon King's ramen that much?

Realizing this, Ao Luan immediately got an idea: "I wonder if the Bull Demon King accepts apprentices."

She realized a critical point she had previously overlooked, if you can't capture a man's heart, start with his stomach.

She decided to learn how to make ramen!

"Bang!"

A pair of hands slammed heavily on the table in front of Ao Luan.

"Are you even listening to me?"

Daji, furious and with a face ashen, berated her for not paying any attention while she had been talking.

She had never been treated this way before!

"Hmm?"

Ao Luan suddenly remembered that Daji was still nearby.

She said somewhat impatiently, "Am I not doing this for your own good?"

"For my good?"

Daji had never seen such a shameless person before: "Is this really for my good?"

"You are naturally charming; why not find an Immortal to marry earlier?"

Ao Luan spoke indifferently, "With an Immortal's protection, you can stay away from troubles in the future. Isn't that better?"

"I don't need anyone else's protection!"

Daji, always proud, became even angrier upon hearing her words.

"Have you forgotten?"

Ao Luan didn't want to continue arguing and scoffed, "Haven't you always been protected by us?"

"You—"

Daji clenched her teeth but couldn't refute.

Her charm wasn't something she could change, and she didn't want to attract so much trouble either!

"I'll prove it to you!"

Daji, furious, yelled at Ao Luan, "I won't rely on anyone else anymore!"

She turned around and left the noodle shop.

Seeing Daji storm off, Ao Luan suddenly felt a bit worried, wondering if she had gone too far?

Worried about Daji getting into trouble, Ao Luan followed her out as well.

The untouched bowl of noodles on the table was somewhat regrettable for the Rabbit Demon.

"What a waste of this bowl of noodles..."

She muttered softly.

"Then give it to me."

A boy said from afar.

The Rabbit Demon immediately smiled, bringing the noodles over: "Thank you for your patronage, Crown Prince."

"Hmm, you know..."

Nezha took the noodles, looking a bit downcast, "Do I really have such a low presence?"

"Not at all."

The Rabbit Demon smiled.

Nezha wasn't convinced: "Why do I feel like everyone has forgotten about me?"

"I've noticed you."

The Rabbit Demon comforted like an elder sister, "You come here to eat noodles every day."

Though she didn't know what Nezha was doing in Wanling City.

Meanwhile, Daji arrived at the construction site of Academy City.

Ignoring the curious stares of others, Daji ran around searching.

"Great King, I knew you would be here!"

Her eyes lit up as she found Sun Wukong.

"Great King, I want to ask you to teach me."

Daji said to Sun Wukong, "I want to become an Immortal!"

Sun Wukong slightly frowned.

Daji was close to reaching Perfection, perhaps she only needed one more opportunity to become an Immortal, but Sun Wukong couldn't help her.

"Your path to Immortality is not like ordinary people. Listening to my teachings won't make you an Immortal."

Sun Wukong shook his head, "I can't help you. You must comprehend it on your own."

He could teach the path of Cultivation, but Daji's path to Immortality was unique; no one could assist her.

Daji, still seething, felt even more distressed.

Filled with resentment, she thought, "Why can Ao Luan do it, and I cannot?"

Daji knew that Sun Wukong had previously taught Immortal Dao to Ao Luan.

He, like the Grandmaster, was biased, and they didn't care about her.

"I don't need any of you!"

Daji stopped seeking help from others and flew towards Chuanyin Hall, leaving Sun Wukong behind.

"Brother..."

The arriving Ao Luan, seeing this scene, apologized to Sun Wukong somewhat shamefully.

After hearing the whole story, Sun Wukong just shook his head.

"Forget it, it's not a bad thing; you don't need to blame yourself too much."

Perhaps after this incident, Daji might achieve a breakthrough earlier.

Sun Wukong had this premonition.

Over the next month, Daji didn't appear in Wanling City.

Daji, along with Water Moon Fairy, ran to Zuogou Spring to intensely focus on her cultivation.
