The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 408: The Outsider

What are those Wanling people doing?

In Lingshan, the Buddha, amidst battle, sensed an abnormality.

He employed his Supreme Divine Power from the bottom of his heart, his eyes flickering with a flowing light, unceasing images flashing before him.

Scenes of the Wanling people waking up one by one emerged before the Buddha's eyes, right on the lands of the Western Continent.

Wanling Country was originally established in the Western Continent, and Wanling people could be seen everywhere.

Once these Wanling people awaken their memories, the situation in the Western Continent would be irrevocably altered.

"How could this be——"

The Buddha was completely unable to find the reason behind the massive awakening of the Wanling people.

Over the years, Sun Wukong had always forbidden his will from entering Star City, conducting experiments within, perhaps already having found the method to awaken those Wanling people.

"Truly hidden deeply."

A thought flickered through the Buddha's mind, and once again, his eyes shone, another image surfacing before his eyes.

Immortal Zhen Yuan, leading a group of people, stood atop the mountain peaks.

They joined forces to cast a spell, a colossal Spirits Array enveloping the mountains.

The mountains roared, valleys shattered, and thousands of miles of landscape were flattened.

Within a matter of days, a city rose from the ground.

Although he had never seen this city before, the Buddha knew — that was Wanling City.

This city was the cause of the massive awakening of the Wanling people.

"How could this happen."

What shocked the Buddha even more was the birth of Wanling City.

He had never imagined that these people possessed the ability to create something out of nothing to such an extent.

Where did their power come from, and how could they construct such a sophisticated city out of thin air so quickly?

"Sun Wukong."

The Buddha loudly questioned Sun Wukong, "What exactly is the Wanling Net?"

Everything stemmed from that unknown Wanling Net, which was responsible for the construction of Wanling City.

However, Sun Wukong did not answer the Buddha.

"Guanyin Venerable, go and stop Zhen Yuan immediately!"

The slightly angered voice of the Buddha echoed in the sky: "Stop their spells; Wanling City must not emerge anew."

"In accordance with Your Divine Decree."

Guanyin took the orders and led the other Buddhas, turning into streaks of flowing light, rapidly departing Lingshan.

But these streaks of light were blocked by a flickering Barrier.

That was a sealing Barrier set up by Emperor Gouchen, condensing the power of all living beings.

"Well done."

Sun Wukong's voice also resonated in the sky: "Block them—just for four days, and Wanling City shall be rebuilt!"

"Perish the thought!"

The Buddha's Giant Palm dove down with the force of thunder.

Below that Giant Palm were Emperor Qinghua and Emperor Gouchen.

A sudden burst of light stood in the way.

"Get out!"

The explosive impact pushed Emperor Qinghua and Emperor Gouchen away.

The gust stirred by Jingu Bang was soft yet firm, utilized to perfection by Sun Wukong.

His power had grown stronger; his body shone with a radiance of ten thousand lights, even dyeing the night sky golden.

The Buddha's palm too emitted an unprecedented dazzling light within the night sky.

"You're walking right into a trap!"

The Buddha's voice carried a hint of delight.

He no longer restrained his power, and the sky suddenly changed color.

That Giant Palm was just the first attack, followed by the second, the third...

In an instant, successive golden lights emerged and vanished in the sky.

Hundreds of palms covered the heavens, descending from different directions toward Sun Wukong, causing almost everyone to feel the sky trembling.

"I'm not afraid of you!"

Sun Wukong soared into the heavens, sequences of Jingu Bangs appearing around him, rushing towards those myriad Giant Palms.

This was a clash of the Heavenly Dao, truly astonishing.

Jingu Bang collided with the Giant Palms, exploding with a thunderous boom, the heavens and the earth resounded violently, fire surged tumultuously, as if hundreds of suns were burning in the night sky.

Everyone was swept away by the enormous gust of wind, tumbling towards the distance.

Atop Mount Lingshan, Lingji Bodhisattva hugged the Bodhi Tree, his body blown high into the air.

"Samantabhadra, it turns out that book was telling the truth."

He yelled loudly.

"Which book?"

Samantabhadra, clinging to his own leg, was also lifted by the wind.

"The one about Buddha being a chatterbox."

Lingji Bodhisattva shouted.

Samantabhadra held on to him tightly to prevent being blown away: "What does that book say?"

"It wrote that when Buddha was young, he was tormented by mosquitoes, and to kill the mosquitoes, he perfected the Shadowless Palm."

Lingji Bodhisattva replied: "Seeing it today, it's indeed as legendary as it says."

"Nonsense."

Samantabhadra was furious: "That book cannot be trusted, it also says you are a nitwit, do you believe that?"

Before Lingji Bodhisattva could reply, his Protective Divine Light was shattered in the face of the gust, crumbling instantly like dregs.

"Ah ah ah!"

The two were blown away by the hurricane.

"Qinghua!"

Emperor Gouchen saw the flickering Barrier in the distance, his complexion changed slightly: "My Barrier is about to give in."

"I understand."

Emperor Qinghua threw out the Nine-Colored Lotus in his hand, using countless petals to surround Mount Lingshan.

The Bodhisattva Guanyin, who was about to break through, was blocked by the Colorful Lotus, and did not get out either.

In the sky, Buddha's Buddha's Hands were all knocked down.

Buddha could no longer use the Buddha's Hands to suppress Sun Wukong, but similarly, Sun Wukong was not able to cause much harm to Buddha with the Jingu Bang.

Buddha transformed into the Golden Lotus, each petal a true body, uncreated and indestructible, constantly rebirthing and blossoming.

Both felt the challenge.

Buddha did not wish to delay any further, at this point, he had to reveal his trump card.

"World Venerable."

Buddha called out, and it seemed as if something bloomed within the myriad Golden Lotuses, a blinding light obscured the sky.

Symbol after symbol shimmered within the Golden Lotuses, Sanskrit filled the sky, multiplying greatly.

"This is bad."

Sun Wukong was about to escape when his body as though suddenly falling into water, his movements progressively slowed.

Those Golden Lotuses and symbols seemingly turned into a Kasaya woven from stars, sealing Sun Wukong within a space.

Sun Wukong swung his staff into the sky, his offensive dissipated by the Kasaya without a trace.

"What kind of Spell is this?"

Sun Wukong was shocked inside, the Kasaya ancient and mystical, imbued with an alternate Heavenly Dao aura.

This overwhelmingly oppressive aura was not from the Buddha.

He looked towards the center of the symbols, making out a tiny monk sitting atop the Golden Lotus.

The monk was as small as a thumb, invisible without careful scrutiny.

And at this moment, Buddha spoke again: "World Venerable, help me catch him."

"As should be done."

The little person atop the Golden Lotus replied.

His eyes fixed on Sun Wukong, seven relics suddenly appeared beside him, seven rays of light shooting towards Sun Wukong, unimaginably potent.

Bathed in the light, Sun Wukong's body was instantly bound by seven chains, securing his limbs and neck, fixing him in place in the sky.

"Finally coming out."

Dark flames ignited in Sun Wukong's eyes, spreading to every corner of his body.

As soon as the flames touched the chains, like a catalyst to a flame, they rapidly climbed upwards, extending to the seven relics.

"Hmm?"

World Venerable slightly frowned, continuing to tighten the bindings around Sun Wukong.

"Sun Wukong."

Buddha's voice, laced with a smile, rang out: "World Venerable is an outsider, your Curse is ineffective against him."
