The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 228: The Final Key

Sun Wukong understood.

It wasn't that Sweeping Star didn't comb her hair because her hair was naturally curly.

He didn't bother to manage it anymore.

Sun Wukong had read all the Great Tribulation Texts on the second floor.

The Talismanic Diagrams and Records chronicled the process of the creation of heaven and earth's laws; if he could fully comprehend it, along with some earlier achievements, he could bypass many detours and find a shortcut to creating the Wanling Immortal Path.

"Unfortunately, there's something missing..."

Having finished the materials, Sun Wukong found them too few to fully decode the Talismanic Diagrams and Records.

He searched the entire second floor and saw no more annotations.

"There should be some on the upper floors."

Sun Wukong thought, just as he was about to shift his focus.

"Here."

Sweeping Star found him and tossed a book to him.

"This is..."

Sun Wukong, surprised, opened it and found it was exactly the Taoist Characters he was looking for.

"A return gift."

Sweeping Star coldly responded and then turned away.

"This guy isn't a bad person."

Sun Wukong thought to himself.

He had only given a comb, and Sweeping Star had given him the book he needed; if he gave more gifts, perhaps he could receive even more books.

Fortunately, Sun Wukong's notes were very popular, he sold some more notes, got some money, and bought some gifts for Sweeping Star.

Sweeping Star accepted the gifts and indeed brought him more books to read — sadly, they were all just notes, unrelated to the Immortal Dao.

Sweeping Star was clear about the boundaries of her duties and wouldn't give Sun Wukong things she wasn't supposed to.

Sun Wukong felt a bit disappointed but also admired her.

This Sweeping Star was a talent, so devoted and diligent despite being so alienated by the immortals of the Heavenly Palace.

"I wonder if I can poach her."

Sun Wukong pondered.

After the incident on Wealth God Island, he discovered a secret of Sweeping Star.

She loved things from Wanling Country; she would leave once a month to buy various items on Wealth God Island.

It was evident she had some interest in Wanling Country.

"Let's test the waters..."

Thus, Sun Wukong returned to Wanling Country and conveyed a secret recruitment order to Emperor Donghua.

Apart from recruitment, Immortal Zhenyuan also asked him for a drop of blood.

Back at the Scripture Pavilion, Sun Wukong observed Sweeping Star's behavior.

Two months passed, and Sweeping Star was as usual.

"Did it fail?"

Sun Wukong was uncertain.

Emperor Donghua should have sent someone to contact Sweeping Star, and since she didn't report it, she must not have refused.

He couldn't figure it out and could only patiently wait.

Half a year later, suddenly one day, a young man found Sun Wukong.

"Let's go watch a show!"

He excitedly dragged Sun Wukong out of the Scripture Pavilion and they flew away from Kunlun Mountain on a crane.

"What show?"

Sun Wukong noticed there were many other immortal disciples riding cranes in the sky.

"You'll know soon."

The young man's crane led the way, bringing Sun Wukong to the East Sea.

In the sea mist of East Sea, a huge mountain range emerged from the water.

"That is..."

Sun Wukong recognized the mountain.

"That's Longevity Mountain."

The young man replied, "I heard that Wanling Country is building something like a Spring Palace, so they moved this Immortal Mountain there."

Sun Wukong was aware of this.

The new ten-year plan of Wanling Country had started, aiming to build several Floating Cities, and Immortal Zhenyuan's Longevity Mountain was one of them.

Considering the importance of the ginseng tree, he voluntarily requested to move Longevity Mountain to Wanling Country, transforming it into a Floating Immortal Mountain.

The drop of blood given by Sun Wukong was for this purpose.

"The land gods are truly pitiable!"

Disciples of the Three Thousand Immortal Paths watched as the Mountain God of Longevity Mountain undertook the painstaking task of transportation, and couldn't help but feel some pity.

"Isn't that the Immortal of Colossal Spirit?"

Someone else noticed the figure of the Immortal of Colossal Spirit.

"Wanling Country treats immortals as laborers; indeed, it's not a place for those who pursue cultivation."

"It's a good thing we never went there."

The disciples discussed among themselves.

Sun Wukong couldn't help but shake his head.

He understood — the immortals had sent these disciples here to make fun of the situation.

After watching the mountain moving, the disciples returned to Kunlun Mountain.

Sun Wukong's life returned to its usual tranquility.

He wanted to read books on the higher floors of the Scripture Pavilion; there were only three methods to do so, one being obtaining permission from the upper echelons of Heavenly Palace, but this method was extremely difficult.

Another method would be to start with Sweeping Star, but Sun Wukong judged that Sweeping Star did not seem like she would revolt, leaving him only with the third method.

He began to write something on the walls of the second floor.

Sweeping Star noticed his actions and came over to take a look.

"What are you writing?"

"It's nothing, just some notes."

Sun Wukong was writing in Great Tribulation Text: "I'll erase it once I'm done."

Ordinary words and arrays were too conspicuous, so he attempted to write with the Talismanic Diagrams and Records. After several days, the words on the wall were dense, almost resembling a Heavenly Book.

Sweeping Star couldn't understand it at all.

She frowned slightly, feeling that this guy was overly clever.

But as Sun Wukong often wrote some notes, she didn't pay too much attention. After a few days, she turned around and left.

Sun Wukong sped up his pace.

He was creating a new spell in a special way.

A few days later, he completed it.

"Sweeping Star."

Sun Wukong started looking for Sweeping Star.

After searching for a long time and confirming that Sweeping Star was not around, he began to implement his plan.

"Come here."

Sun Wukong approached the wall and softly chanted a spell.

Suddenly, a butterfly silently landed on the wall, and the entire wall surface faintly glowed.

The words on the wall seemed to come to life, beginning to spin and then slowly transformed into a Talismanic Array.

"Scripture Pavilion, remove my restrictions."

Sun Wukong said to the array: "You shouldn't obey others; I have passed the assessments and originally qualified to read the books."

His power projected from a distant place.

The array trembled slightly, then gradually vanished.

Afterward, only a circular halo was left on the wall.

"... Finally opened ..."

Sun Wukong looked at the halo, thinking to himself.

The Scripture Pavilion silently opened for him.

Sun Wukong tentatively reached out his hand; touching the halo, his hand naturally slipped through like entering a surface of a lake.

When he pulled his hand out, a book was in his grasp.

"Just as I thought."

Sun Wukong's face lit up with joy.

Ever since entering the Scripture Pavilion, he had been investigating this sentient building.

It took several years, but Sun Wukong finally found a way to deceive the heavens and obtained the right to use the Scripture Pavilion.

From now on, he could take out any book from the halo in the Scripture Pavilion.

Before him, there were no longer any barriers to reading.

Whether he goes to the higher floors or not didn't matter anymore.

Sun Wukong began to browse the book in his hands.

It was an Immortal Book, but as soon as he opened it, the text automatically appeared.

Sun Wukong rapidly absorbed the knowledge.

He had obtained the final key.

What remained was only the time to read.
