The little girl might be young, but she's already a seasoned hand. She glanced at the medicine list and nodded. Luo Chao didn't want to waste time, so he let the girl go and get the medicine.
During the wait, quite a few people came to buy medicine. Luo Chao wasn't in the mood to pay attention to others. After the girl gathered all the medicine, Luo Chao smelled each sealed packet. Don't underestimate Luo Chao's simple sniffing; no matter what the medicine was, as long as Luo Chao held it, he knew when it was harvested and what it was.
After sniffing all the packets and finding no issues, Luo Chao bought some tools to grind the herbs, paid for everything, and walked out of the pharmacy.
The sky was gradually darkening. Luo Chao couldn't take the medicine back now, so he thought of going to Ouyang Zhenhua's place to mix the medicine. This way, he could divide it up and explain to Ouyang Zhenhua how to take it, saving time and having a place to do it.
Standing by the roadside waiting for a car, Luo Chao took out his phone and dialed Ouyang Zhenhua.
Before the call connected, Luo Chao caught a whiff of blood in the air. Yes, it was the scent of blood, and it had to be a large amount of bleeding.
Just as Luo Chao was about to trace the source of the blood scent, he saw a little girl in dark clothes walk quickly past him. She wore a large hat that covered most of her face, making it hard to see her features.
A gust of wind blew, and Luo Chao immediately confirmed that the scent of blood came from the little girl who had just passed by.
Luo Chao was puzzled about where the little girl could be injured, walking as if nothing was wrong, wondering why she wasn't heading to a hospital.
Simultaneously, the little girl who just passed him suddenly swayed, then collapsed softly to the ground.
Holy crap, could it be? Lying straight on the ground not far from him, anyone with eyes could see her. Could she be faking an injury for compensation? Luo Chao didn't want to meddle.
But with no car in sight yet, if others saw, they might think he was leaving her to die. Although, why should he care what others thought?
Considering this, Luo Chao decided to continue waiting for a car. But just ten seconds later, he heard footsteps from nearby, practiced footsteps, along with whispered voices: "She ran this way, she's injured, we should catch up with her."
"We can't let her get away. If she escapes, we'll be skinned alive!"
Luo Chao looked up at the sky, pulled out a coin, sighed, and internally told himself, "Heads, I'll save her."
Within two seconds, Luo Chao was already beside the little girl, crouching down to pick her up. As Luo Chao touched her, her eyes suddenly opened, and the sharp look in them made Luo Chao feel a sense of killing intent. Yes, it was killing intent.
Luo Chao was startled, then said, "You're hurt, someone's chasing you, right? I'm here to help."
Luo Chao expected the little girl to at least put up a symbolic struggle, but for some reason, her gaze softened upon seeing Luo Chao. She nodded, allowing him to lift her.
Maybe it was fate. Just as Luo Chao lifted the little girl, a taxi happened to come by.
Luo Chao waved it down, placing the little girl inside, then climbed in himself, telling the driver, "Drive first."
He then resumed calling Ouyang Zhenhua on his phone.
Ouyang Zhenhua had just finished a bath when he heard the phone ring, it was the special ringtone he set for Luo Chao.
Answering the call, he heard Luo Chao's voice: "Where do you live?"
After Ouyang Zhenhua, confused, gave his address, Luo Chao hung up.
Checking the time on his phone, he sighed. Fortunately, only 36 seconds had passed. If it had taken over a minute or near two minutes, wouldn't he have lost out?
The driver glanced at Luo Chao in the rearview mirror. With the car being small, the scent of blood from the girl quickly filled the cabin. Even the driver, let alone the sharp-nosed Luo Chao, could smell it.
And Luo Chao asked for an address right after getting in. Was it a kidnapping or was he going to dispose of a body? Should he just drive straight to the police station?
Luo Chao noticed the driver watching him, and from the driver's eyes gathered much information. Luo Chao helplessly raised his eyebrows, then gave the address, explaining, "Sir, please hurry up. My girlfriend's on her period and needs rest."
The taxi driver, also in his thirties, couldn't help but blush at the calm way this teenage boy spoke of such a private matter.
His earlier concerns dissipated, and the unconscious girl naturally couldn't hear Luo Chao's words, resting quietly on Luo Chao's shoulder. Luo Chao sniffed cautiously, then took her pulse. Fortunately, he wasn't too late. It was simply severe blood loss. Should they head to the hospital?
But if she needed a hospital, wouldn't she go on her own? Why walk?
Luo Chao decided to head to Ouyang Zhenhua's place first, noticing the girl kept holding her stomach. The wound should be there; it indeed seemed similar to period pains.
Luo Chao was grateful for his quick thinking, and luckily, the girl wore dark clothes, which made it hard to distinguish the blood.
The driver sped up, and shortly after, they arrived at Ouyang Zhenhua's villa area.
Ouyang Zhenhua was already waiting at the gate. Seeing Luo Chao carry a girl out of the car, he gave Luo Chao a puzzled look. Luo Chao calmly looked at Ouyang Zhenhua and said blandly, "Pay the fare."
Ouyang Zhenhua was taken aback, awkwardly pulled out money to pay the fare, thinking it was so typical of Luo Chao to not cover the fare even at his house. But this wasn't a big deal.
However, Ouyang Zhenhua was genuinely interested in the girl with Luo Chao because as soon as she got out, his keen senses detected a bloody scent.
"Who's this? Did you kill someone?" Ouyang Zhenhua asked while opening the door.
Luo Chao was speechless. If he killed someone, why go through the trouble of bringing them back? Was he crazy?
"Use your brain, will you? Picked her up halfway." Luo Chao kept it brief, stepping inside with Ouyang Zhenhua, and asked, "Which room?"
Without another word, Ouyang Zhenhua led Luo Chao upstairs. Luo Chao put the girl on Ouyang Zhenhua's bed, moved her hand, and then felt her stomach, finding blood there.
"You have alcohol or something at home? A pair of scissors?" Luo Chao turned to the dumbfounded Ouyang Zhenhua.
Ouyang Zhenhua didn't move and replied, "No alcohol, only liquor. No scissors, only knives."
"Damn it, what are you looking at!" Luo Chao cursed, then turned to start removing the girl's clothes.
"Hey, hey... why are you cursing, and why are you taking her clothes off? If she's hurt, she needs a hospital. I know you're good with medicine, but do you know who she is?"
"It doesn't matter who she is, saving her comes first, right? She'll die if she keeps bleeding like this!"
