"Who is this?"
"I don't recognize them. I didn't see them yesterday either!"
"Oh no, could it be a new guest?"
"Isn't someone here to see Teacher Xu? Why is there another one?"
The girl's mind raced, but her actions were straightforward. She immediately put on a smile, turned, and said to Chu Tian with a beaming face, "Hello, Teacher, my name is Jiang Ling. Are you here to record the show too?"
Record the show?
FUCK! Chu Tian looked past the girl and saw, behind her, a camera, a segment director, assistants—a whole crowd of people waiting outside Xu Qingqiu's door.
Has the recording started? I'm still in my pajamas, right? Man, this is a huge blunder.
Seeing that someone had turned their head upon hearing Jiang Ling's voice, Chu Tian quickly blurted out a sentence and hurriedly shut the door.
"Sorry, I'm not any teacher; you've got the wrong person!"
Having said that, he immediately shut the door, blocking all prying eyes from outside, and finally heaved a sigh of relief.
"PHEW. That scared me to death."
Chu Tian hadn't expected the crew to start bustling around this early. He had thought it would be at least eight or nine o'clock, not just past six.
No more sleep for me; they're just getting started. The actual recording location is in a village with some garden-style courtyards. That's where the crew will really film. Since the show leans towards cultural topics and has a relaxed atmosphere, a scenic place is the most suitable. I promised Xu Qingqiu I'd accompany her. I can't just let her go off to record while I stay here sleeping.
Chu Tian snapped back to reality and quickly went to the bathroom to wash up.
"What's wrong, Jiang Ling? Who were you talking to just now?"
Outside the door, the segment director, assistants, and agent, who had turned around upon hearing the commotion, all looked at Jiang Ling.
Particularly the agent. Jiang Ling was a newly signed actress with the company, fresh off filming a TV drama that was about to be released. She was here to gain exposure and generate buzz. But fearing she was young and might be indiscreet, the agent had specifically accompanied her, worried she might cause some trouble. This special trip to wait at Xu Qingqiu's door was an opportunity the company had specifically arranged, designed to let her appear alongside Xu Qingqiu for more screen time.
"Ah? Ah... this... just now a guy... a man... came out of this room. I thought he was one of the actor-teachers. Wasn't he?"
"What actor? Do you know him?"
Jiang Ling was stumped. I genuinely don't recognize him. But he's so handsome, tall, and well-built—he looks every bit like a star! Plus, appearing here, right next to Teacher Xu's room... isn't it obvious? What else could it be?
"Uh... I don't know him, but..."
Before she could finish, the segment director, having understood the situation, said with a surprised look, "That's not right. There are no other actors here. Teacher Xu's room is flanked by her assistant's and agent's rooms."
"Huh? Is that so? Then this..."
Jiang Ling suddenly didn't know what to say. After all, she was just a newcomer without much fame. She was neither a big-name actor nor a top influencer, so her status was simply incomparable to Xu Qingqiu's.
It's like staying in a hotel; even if it's the same one, the level of status and treatment differs. Xu Qingqiu, at least, stayed in a suite, while Jiang Ling only had a deluxe king-size bed room. Not only that, but Xu Qingqiu's assistants and agent stayed in the adjacent rooms for her convenience, whereas Jiang Ling's neighbors were either other guests or strangers.
Assistants and agents? At my level, I either wouldn't have personal assistants staying nearby, or if I did, they'd be in standard rooms or on lower floors—nothing comparable to Xu Qingqiu's setup. This was the disparity in status, and also in fame.
Coincidentally, next to her room was another newcomer, a Singer. It was precisely because she lacked experience that she naturally assumed the person in the neighboring room must also be a guest.
It could only be said that it was all a bizarre confluence of errors and coincidences.
"Never mind that for now. Turn off the camera; let's do another take," the director said.
Chu Tian had no idea that his unintended appearance had left the little rookie dazed and confused for the entire day.
After he finished washing up, he came out, found some clothes to wear, tidied himself up a bit, and prepared to head out.
Hotel safety? I wouldn't care even if I walked around naked in my room. After all, I have a Camera Detector; it's foolproof. The psychological trauma from his previous life made him meticulously check hotel rooms. Now, however, there was no need. Just a press of a button, another press, and the job was done. Not just his room; when he first checked in, he had taken the opportunity while "visiting" other people's rooms to casually test them all. The result was that this hotel was quite decent; he hadn't found any of those kinds of intrusive devices.
When he opened the door again, filming was already underway outside.
"Teacher Xu, let's go. Teacher Sun and the others have already gone downstairs."
Watching the young girl eagerly tagging along beside Xu Qingqiu, Chu Tian understood perfectly well what was going on. This kind of thing was rampant in the industry. Typically, the company would reach out and ask some seniors to help promote their own artists—have them chat a bit more, give them a few more camera shots, that sort of thing. In most cases, people would oblige out of courtesy. After all, everyone was making a living in the same circle, and there would inevitably be times when they needed each other. However, most of the time, it was companies promoting their own. Outsiders were also involved, though less commonly, and it usually required some form of reciprocal benefit.
