"Hello, Double Iron Armored King."
"Hello, host."
As soon as the Singer spoke, not only the people below the stage but also those in front of their TVs were baffled.
"Damn, a voice changer too? They're really going all out, aren't they?" one viewer exclaimed.
"Incredible! This show is brilliant. How do they even come up with this stuff? Absolutely amazing…" another chimed in.
"I'm out of energy to criticize anymore," someone else muttered. "I thought I could recognize the voice when they spoke, but lo and behold, they had this trick up their sleeve!"
Both the live audience and the viewers at home were completely puzzled and clueless. Those who had been eagerly hunting for clues no longer dared to make bold assumptions as they had at the beginning. They stared blankly at their television screens, their minds refusing to work.
"No wonder no one could guess! How could anyone guess this?"
Many groaned in despair, slumping onto their sofas or collapsing onto their beds, starting to doubt their life choices. Was it a mistake to watch this show?
As much as they wanted to turn it off, curiosity compelled them to keep watching.
No way! I have to see who this is! one thought resolutely.
Aren't they supposed to sing later? You can change your speaking voice, but surely not your singing voice, right? I refuse to believe it! another fumed.
These new viewers gritted their teeth, determined to find some clue. Meanwhile, those who had experienced the live recording sighed once more as they rewatched the broadcast.
One of them thought, Sigh, even after watching the whole thing and rewatching it now, I still have no clue. I *know* who the person is, but I can't find any evidence to prove it. It's truly brilliant.
After lamenting, they suddenly realized that the other viewers, who hadn't experienced this torment yet, were probably feeling even worse.
At this thought, they perked up.
"Go on, guess! Let's see you try!" they chuckled inwardly. "This show is absolutely fantastic. You'll never be sure who the singer is until the very last moment."
As expected, after the Double Iron Armored King finished performing, no one could guess who he was.
"This voice… it doesn't seem to have any distinctive features, does it?" a viewer mused. "It sounds like what a male singer should sound like, but at the same time, not quite."
"Right, I feel the same way," another agreed. "It's a very ordinary voice, like most people's. But a singer needs a distinctive voice to achieve success."
"Do you think it could be some unknown minor singer?"
"That shouldn't be the case. Otherwise, there'd be no point in guessing. Unknown singers are a dime a dozen; how could you guess then?"
"True, but why can't I find any clues at all?"
Clues were scarce, and the audience's bewilderment was only just beginning.
"The second performer is coming up! It's the Highland Antelope, right? Let's see who this one is."
As soon as the Singer appeared on stage, everyone's eyes widened.
"Damn, this outfit really matches the name!" someone exclaimed. "Not only are the clothes fluffy-looking, but there's also a sheepskin cape and a sheep's head mask worn directly on top! They really know how to commit to a bit!"
"If it weren't for the figure, I couldn't even tell if it's a man or a woman. True to the name, indeed," another thought.
"Sigh, another voice changer," someone lamented. "Looks like we can only rely on the singing again."
They said they could only listen to the singing, but in their hearts, they held little hope.
When the Highland Antelope's performance ended, a young couple watching sighed in unison.
"Hmph, you couldn't guess either?" the girl said.
"Guess my ass! How is anyone supposed to guess this?" the boy retorted.
"Don't get worked up. Let's see what the guessing panel says. Maybe they figured it out."
On TV, the guessing panel was deep in intense discussion, their faces serious. Captain Zhang, their leader, even stood up to better hear his team members' opinions.
"Alright, the first group of Singers has finished performing," the host, Big Dragon, announced. "Now, let's ask our guessing panel if they have any results."
He waited for a long moment after speaking, but no one from the panel responded.
"Captain Zhang?" Big Dragon prodded. "How are you all doing? Zhang Jingyao?! Don't push it!"
Zhang Jingyao finally looked up, rolled his eyes at the host, and said irritably, "Don't rush me! Can't you see we're discussing?"
"Captain Zhang, we're filming a show, and you've already gone over your allotted time! Watch out, or I might penalize you for a violation!" Big Dragon retorted.
"Ah, you really live up to your nickname, Big Bug. So annoying..." Zhang Jingyao muttered. He knew he was in the wrong and could only shake his head regretfully, but he wouldn't back down verbally.
"HAHAHA! I'm dying of laughter! Are these two here to do comedy?" a viewer howled.
The audience hadn't expected such an entertaining sideshow in a singing competition, and many were laughing so hard tears streamed down their faces. Especially when they saw Zhang Jingyao roll his eyes and Big Dragon scowl, their banter was more amusing than a crosstalk performance.
"Please, guessing panel, announce your results," Big Dragon said, trying to regain control.
"Announce what? There are no results," Zhang Jingyao snapped back.
"No results? Then what did the guessing panel come here for?" Big Dragon shot back.
"Big Bug, watch your mouth!" Zhang Jingyao warned.
"Hmph. Okay then," Big Dragon said with a smirk. "Our guessing panel has returned empty-handed. It seems their reputation is undeserved. They probably boasted too much in the past and are now embarrassed and angry. Let's just ignore them and move on to the next group..."
The two continued to trade barbs as if it were second nature, thoroughly delighting the audience.
However, everyone was genuinely surprised that the guessing panel hadn't figured anything out. Their frustrated reactions seemed authentic; otherwise, their acting skills were truly top-tier.
The first group yielded no answers, but there was still hope for the upcoming ones. No one was ready to give up yet.
The guessing panel felt the same. Each member leaned forward, eyes wide, almost craning their necks over the desk to get a better look at the stage.
But as the second and then the third group of Singers took their turns, everyone remained utterly clueless.
Viewers at home watched, bewildered, as one Singer after another came and went. Their eyes grew tired from scrutinizing, but they still couldn't discern any identities.
Their minds whirled with questions: 'Who is this now?' 'And who is this one?' 'Who is this woman? Why don't I recognize this man?'
The guessing panel fared even worse. Their only moment of confidence came with the Singer "Jasmine Flower." They were sure it was Xu Qingqiu, only to receive a blunt denial from the host.
"Sorry, you guessed wrong!" Big Dragon announced, not mincing words.
"Ah? Guessed wrong? That can't be!" Zhang Jingyao exclaimed, shocked.
"Yes, you guessed wrong. Please keep trying, and don't always look for easy outs," the host said smugly.
"Who's looking for easy outs? We were analyzing!" Zhang Jingyao protested.
"Ah, yes, yes. Your analysis was wrong. My apologies," Big Dragon said, dripping with sarcasm.
"You..." Zhang Jingyao sputtered, clearly incensed.
If they weren't filming a show, the audience suspected Zhang Jingyao might have actually started swearing. The host's taunts were just too scathing.
It wasn't just Zhang Jingyao who wanted to curse; those viewers who had been eagerly waiting to show off their guessing prowess were equally, if not more, frustrated.
"This is too hard, isn't it? They didn't even guess Xu Qingqiu correctly?" one complained.
"The name is Jasmine Flower, the slogan is 'Chasing Dreams,' the song performed was from her new album, she's a female singer, and her build and height are extremely similar! How could it *not* be her?"
"The production team must be doing this on purpose, right? I feel like there's something shady going on. If this is how they're going to play, it's a bit much."
Many people, firm in their conviction that their own guesses had been spot on, started aiming their frustrations and accusations at the production team.
