I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!

Chapter 155: Under Protection

Alex sat stunned in realization.

After watching the complete short video he finally understood that the woman from last night was indeed the famous Meera. Everything suddenly made sense—her attitude, her concern about being seen, her entire demeanor.

Then Alex researched this person more thoroughly online. He opened multiple tabs and started reading articles about her career, her recent projects, and her massive fan following.

He would not have known the truth unless he checked.

He was genuinely shocked when he verified the facts.

Good heavens! This woman had close to sixty million followers on social media platforms! Sixty million people knew who she was and followed her every move.

If what had happened last night became publicly known there would be tremendous cyberbullying and online harassment directed at both of them. The internet mob would be merciless, twisting innocent circumstances into scandalous narratives.

Only at this moment did Alex fully understand everything.

This explained why Meera had made that weird expression when he mentioned using his bicycle to escort her back home. She must have thought he was completely insane to ask her to ride on a bicycle home. The image of a famous actress on the back of a rusty bicycle was laughable.

Or it maybe because Meera had genuinely feared that he might be implicated in some scandal.

Or maybe she didn't care at all about his reputation and only worried about her own.

But was that really the case...who knows? Surely not Alex. Her motivations remained a mystery to him.

Alex shrugged with philosophical acceptance.

A famous celebrity looks down on me as a mere security guard.

What can I possibly do about that attitude? Nothing would change her perception. He was beneath her notice in the social hierarchy, invisible to someone of her status.

Still, he couldn't help but wonder if he would see her again.

**Meera's Luxury Apartment**

Meanwhile on the other side of the city in a top luxury large apartment located at Marine Drive in Mumbai, Meera finished taking a long shower after the hectic day she had gone through.

She walked to the floor-to-ceiling French windows.

Looking down at the distant sea views her eyes remained cold and calculating. The Arabian Sea stretched endlessly before her, but she saw none of its beauty.

"Rahul! This matter between us is far from finished!" she declared to the empty room. Her voice echoed off the marble walls.

When she thought about how she had nearly lost her reputation or even her innocence if she had not met that kind security guard yesterday she felt tremendous fire burning in her heart. The rage threatened to consume her completely.

If there had not been a brave security guard present at that exact moment yesterday things definitely would not have ended well for her. She shuddered at the thought of what could have happened.

At this moment there was a knock on the door announcing the arrival of her new assistant. This time Meera was not going to trust anyone with her important schedules—she had even investigated the new assistant quite thoroughly this time, running background checks and verifying every reference.

"Miss Meera I have already completed all the arrangements you requested. Your former agent Sunny has been arrested by the police.

According to the normal sentencing guidelines she will be sentenced to fifteen years in prison and she cannot escape that fate."

The new assistant spoke with professional efficiency, tablet in hand displaying all the relevant documentation.

Meera's eyes remained cold and calculating. "She deserves exactly what she gets!"

The betrayal still stung deeply. Sunny had been with her for three years.

The assistant felt a little confused and asked cautiously "Miss Meera when you reported everything to the police why did you not have them arrest Rahul as well? If the authorities had arrested him he would also have to go to jail for his crimes."

Meera shook her head slowly. "He will not go to jail unfortunately. Rahul comes from an extremely wealthy family and his father wields tremendous influence throughout Mumbai. If Rahul gets arrested his father will immediately protect him through expensive lawyers and political connections. Furthermore we do not have sufficient concrete evidence against him so it becomes even more unlikely that he will face any jail time."

She had seen this pattern play out too many times before. Rich men rarely faced consequences for their actions.

"However!" Meera's voice turned sharp and determined.

"I can still eventually send Rahul to jail through other means!"

Her tone was ice cold with barely contained fury. Her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

She had already arranged for several private detectives to thoroughly investigate every aspect of Rahul's background and activities. Money was no object when it came to bringing him down.

Rahul relied completely on his status as a wealthy second-generation heir. He acted domineering and arrogant. He constantly engaged in illegal and criminal activities without consequences.

She only needed to investigate thoroughly and she would definitely discover incriminating evidence. Men like Rahul always left trails.

Meera already possessed some preliminary evidence of Rahul's various crimes.

However this evidence was not yet sufficient to put Rahul in jail for ten or eight years minimum.

Therefore she still needed to wait patiently and gather more material. Patience was a virtue she had learned well in this industry.

"Understood Miss Meera."

At this moment the assistant looked somewhat confused and hesitant. "Miss Meera there is one more thing I need to inform you about. Regarding that security guard you asked me to investigate thoroughly we cannot find much information about his true identity. We only know that he works as a security guard at some residential complex. As for other personal information we know absolutely nothing substantial. It seems that his information and records are being actively protected by someone powerful."

"What?" Meera looked surprised and deeply suspicious. Her eyebrows drew together.

"You should continue investigating this matter."

"Do not stop until you discover all the information about him."

What kind of information could a simple security guard possibly have that would require protection? This didn't make any sense.

This situation was extremely strange and unusual. A lowly security guard with protected records? Something was very wrong here.

Alex didn't know his background was being investigated, he had a long time ago instructed Sahil, the Khapar Law Associates manager to conceal his true identity and connections.

The layers of protection he had put on him were now working exactly as intended but creating more questions than answers.
