Upon seeing that Tu Yi was also looking at him with a very unfriendly gaze, the Second Generation Nether King became furious. Because of shared interests, he could tolerate the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder's disrespect, but as for this unknown man who had come out of nowhere, he was unforgivable.
A chilling surge of the Nether King's Power flowed from him, attacking Tu Yi with the force of an overwhelming tidal wave.
Tu Yi didn't show any sign of weakness either, as he pushed out a ball of Spiritual Power from within himself.
When the two balls of Spiritual Power collided, the temperature around them plummeted, and a layer of ice formed on the branches and leaves.
Sensing the collision of the two forces of Spiritual Power, Xie Xiaofeng, who was busy with decorating the street lamps not far away, his eyes sparked with fascination, then he looked towards the direction of the ice sculpture building.
He saw the Second Generation Nether King and two unfamiliar men standing in front of the entrance to the ice sculpture building, among them the Second Generation Nether King and the younger man were already secretly competing in strength.
He certainly hadn't expected that this stranger had just had a clash with his good friend, Chen Hao, a few days earlier.
"Why has it suddenly become so cold?" the man working with Xie Xiaofeng suddenly shivered and couldn't help sneezing after speaking.
Xie Xiaofeng ignored him, focusing entirely on observing what was happening in front of the ice sculpture building.
At that moment, the elder of the Snow Mountain Tribe suddenly stood between the Second Generation Nether King and Tu Yi.
Immediately, both the Second Generation Nether King and Tu Yi withdrew their Spiritual Power. The Snow Mountain Tribe Elder was extremely important to both men.
Without the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder, the heart of the Volcano King underneath the ancient city could no longer be suppressed. Then, the city that the Second Generation Nether King had spent thirty thousand years building would be destroyed overnight; and Tu Yi would also be unable to see the woman he longed for day and night.
"Do you want to destroy this ice tower that you built with your own hands?" the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder asked the Second Generation Nether King, his anger palpable.
The Second Generation Nether King didn't answer but instead asked with hands behind his back, "You still haven't answered my question, who is this man. Could it be that you have forgotten the rules of this place, that no one may set foot in the ancient city without my permission!"
"If you want to rid yourself of a great trouble, you'll need his help," the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder explained.
"Him!" the Second Generation Nether King said, somewhat surprised as he glanced at Tu Yi, "Then why isn't he off killing people instead of coming here?"
"I have my strategies," said the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder, "Either you open the door for us to enter now, or wait until a month later when the person you least want to see appears here."
The Second Generation Nether King glared furiously at the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder. If it weren't for the fact that keeping the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder was still useful, he would have already torn to pieces the only person in the ancient city who didn't address him as Emperor.
The Snow Mountain Tribe Elder was well aware of this, which is why he dared to be defiant in front of the Second Generation Nether King.
"To let him in is possible," the Second Generation Nether King said, "But he has to kneel down and call me Emperor like everyone else here."
"Impossible!" the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder shook his head, "We of the Snow Mountain Tribe only kneel to the Glacier King."
Before the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder could finish his sentence, Tu Yi respectfully called out, "Emperor!"
Upon seeing this, the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder was so angry he nearly fainted, feeling utterly humiliated.
But Tu Yi couldn't care less about face or pride; all he wanted was to see the woman he longed for as soon as possible.
"You haven't knelt," said the Second Generation Nether King.
"We of the Snow Mountain Tribe only kneel to the dead!" Tu Yi replied coldly.
The Second Generation Nether King laughed to himself, seeing that Tu Yi had already called him Emperor, slapping the Snow Mountain Tribe Elder's face quite hard. He was quite satisfied and therefore didn't press Tu Yi any further to kneel.
He waved his left hand, releasing the Barrier enchantment on the ice sculpture building and the temple beneath it.
"Ha ha ha!" he laughed heartily towards the sky and then departed.
"Elder, take me to see Han Shuang!" Tu Yi urged impatiently.
The faces of the Snow Mountain Tribe members turned iron blue as they heaved a sigh of lament before leading Tu Yi into the first floor of the ice sculpture building.
All of this, Xie Xiaofeng observed with his own eyes. Though he didn't know who the old stranger was, upon seeing the elder dare to confront the Second Generation Nether King, he concluded that the elder was no ordinary person.
Hence, Xie Xiaofeng began to think where he could inquire about the elder and how he might approach him.
After entering the first floor of the ice sculpture building, the Snow Mountain Tribe elder led Tu Yi to the very center of the floor, in front of the entrance that led down to the temple.
"Han Shuang is right there," the Snow Mountain Tribe elder said, pointing to a young girl who was meditating with her eyes closed.
Upon seeing the girl, Tu Yi's face was instantly streaked with hot tears as he was overwhelmed with emotion.
He could not remember how many tens of thousands of years it had been since he last saw Han Shuang.
Just as he was about to step through the entrance, the Snow Mountain Tribe elder suddenly blocked him with his hand.
"Tu Yi, it's enough that you've seen her," said the Snow Mountain Tribe elder. "When she first came here, it took her a long time to calm her heart. If she saw you now, it would only stir her heartstrings and add to her sorrow."
Tu Yi knelt on the ground, covering his mouth as he shook and wept bitterly.
The Snow Mountain Tribe elder frowned, his heart filled with guilt. If he had not forcibly separated Tu Yi and Han Shuang back then, Tu Yi would not have fallen to such a state today.
But at the time, he had no other choice.
He knelt on one knee beside Tu Yi, patting his shoulder while saying, "Han Shuang has always been waiting for you, always believing that one day you would take her away from here. That's why she has never cried or made a fuss. You were once our Snow Mountain Tribe's bravest warrior. Complete the task I have given you, then take Han Shuang away from here."
Tu Yi straightened his back, his eyes resolute as he said, "Han Shuang, give me just half a month's time, I will definitely take you away from here."
With that, Tu Yi stood up and vanished in front of the Snow Mountain Tribe elder.
The Snow Mountain Tribe elder slowly stood up, then said with a sorrow-stricken face, "Child, I know you hate me, you all hate me. But I am the clan leader of our people, I must make some sacrifices for the sake of our people!"
Just then, Han Shuang in the temple below suddenly opened her eyes.
A single tear fell from her left eye.
She had just felt a familiar sensation in her heart, a feeling that Tu Yi was very close to her.
However, she dismissed this feeling as mere illusion. Over the countless years, such illusions had often trickled into her heart.
When it was noon.
"Xiao Feng, it's time for lunch. Let's go eat now, we can continue with this tomorrow—after all, we've got plenty of time."
"Alright!" Xie Xiaofeng nodded, then waved goodbye to the chubby man.
After the man walked away, Xie Xiaofeng also started heading to his own quarters, his mind continuously pondering the elder who had dared to speak out against the Second Generation Nether King.
As he passed by a building shaped like a steamship, suddenly, a vine burst out of the grass beside him, wrapping around his ankle, and then pulled him into a corner.
Before he could even cry out in shock, a hand covered his mouth.
"Don't yell! I remember the scent on you as well as the unique five-element Yang Energy you carry. You're Chen Hao's companion!"
