My Girlfriend is the Nether King

Chapter 522: 006 Incredibly Rainbow Paradise

Bright and colorful lights shot down from above, forcing the two to close their eyes.

Immediately, Chen Hao felt an intense dizziness spinning around him. When he opened his eyes, all he saw was himself and Ye Yuqiao spinning forward in a mysterious gravitational pull, amidst a column of intertwining seven-colored lights.

As the brilliance around them was too dazzling, Chen Hao could not bear it and shut his eyes again, pulling Ye Yuqiao tightly into his embrace.

"Yuqiao, don't be scared!"

Ye Yuqiao let out a chuckle, then responded, "Alright, with my boyfriend here, I'm not scared!"

After an unknown amount of time,

"You bastard, Yuqiao!" Tang Jing's voice floated into their ears, and at once, the two opened their eyes.

Upon opening their eyes, Chen Hao was taken aback by the scene before him: they were now at the end of an alley, stepping on misty, ethereal clouds, with rows of buildings painted yellow on either side, stretching to the farthest point his sight could reach.

"Won't we fall through?" Chen Hao gently prodded the clouds beneath his feet.

"No, Xiao Feng and I have already tried," said Tang Jing, shaking her head as she paced back and forth in front of Chen Hao, "These clouds are quite solid, as if walking on flat ground."

Seeing Tang Jing unharmed, Chen Hao also started walking on the clouds, holding Ye Yuqiao's hand.

After a few steps, Chen Hao looked around and asked, "By the way, where's Zhang Heng?"

"He's probably gone to look for his girlfriend," Xie Xiaofeng guessed.

Just at that moment, a window on the second floor of a house on the left opened, and a chubby woman's face peered out, smiling and waving at them, "Did you folks get sucked here by a rainbow?"

Startled, Chen Hao, Xie Xiaofeng, and Tang Jing all nodded their heads in unison.

"You're really lucky," said the chubby woman with a sigh, "Welcome to Rainbow Paradise, there will be a kind-hearted beauty coming to greet you soon, to arrange accommodations for you here."

"Beauty?" Xie Xiaofeng's eyes immediately lit up, then pointing at Ye Yuqiao, he asked, "Is she prettier than this beauty?"

The chubby woman turned to look at Ye Yuqiao, and was immediately taken aback, only after a long while sighing, "My goodness, I never knew there could be such a beautiful girl in this world. Rainbow Paradise is truly suited for you. Do remember to come over for a meal at my place someday."

"Someday?" Chen Hao smiled, "Why not today?"

"Because the beauty who will greet you has arrived, remember, make sure to pay me a visit!" said the chubby woman with a smile.

Just then, the clatter of horseshoes came from the sky, drawing everyone's gaze. They saw a carriage drawn by a white horse heading toward them from above.

"Can all the horses here fly into the sky?" Chen Hao asked the chubby woman.

The chubby woman shook her head, explaining, "Only the carriages from the White Jade Hall are allowed to fly; it's a commoner's way of saying only the royal palace's official service carriages can fly."

"White Jade Hall?"

At that moment, the carriage stopped in front of them, the coachman a man in a black suit, while the woman sitting beside him wore a white dress. At twenty-one or twenty-two years old, her face lightly made up and her looks pure, she was the receptionist the chubby woman had mentioned.

The beauty alighted from the carriage with a graceful leap and extended her hand towards Chen Hao, saying, "Hello everyone, my name is Zhu'er, sent by the King to welcome you all. Welcome to Rainbow Paradise, from now on, this shall be your home."

After hearing Zhu'er's words, Chen Hao quickly withdrew his hand that was extended towards her and said with a wary expression, "What do you mean by 'this will be our home from now on'? We were just passing through; we never intended to stay long."

The chubby woman upstairs snickered and said, "Young man, in a few days, you'll regret what you just said. Rainbow Paradise is a place free of worries and sorrow, no one who comes here wants to leave. It's a stroke of fortune that you've made it here."

"Who says we won't want to leave if we're not bewitched?" Chen Hao scoffed, "Anyone normal will naturally have worries. If one doesn't have worries, that can only mean two things: either the people here have been brainwashed and deceived or they aren't human."

After Chen Hao finished speaking, Zhu'er's face darkened, and the chubby woman upstairs huffed angrily, making the atmosphere turn exceedingly awkward.

"Are you implying I'm not human?" the chubby woman said furiously, throwing a slipper at Chen Hao.

Chen Hao's lips curled into a slight smirk as he effortlessly caught the slipper and looked up at the woman, asking, "Big sister, doesn't getting angry count as being worried?"

"I haven't been angry for thirty whole years before today!" retorted the chubby woman.

"You've grown so plump without a single worry every day, have you ever considered your husband's feelings? How do you know your husband has no worries?"

"I'm not married!" exclaimed the chubby woman, on the verge of exploding with anger.

"Doesn't loneliness and emptiness count as worry? Big sister, don't avoid reality or delude yourself."

"You!" The plump woman was beyond furious. Just as she was about to hurl insults at Chen Hao, the slipper she had thrown at him smacked her firmly in the face, knocking her out cold.

"Zhu'er sister," Chen Hao regarded Zhu'er with a scrutinizing gaze, "someone without worries wouldn't know what it means to be angry, right?"

Zhu'er was taken aback. Having witnessed Chen Hao's verbal and physical prowess, she suddenly became very nervous and had to consider carefully before responding to his question.

"Zhu'er sister, does being nervous count as a worry?" Chen Hao pressed further, the intimidation in his eyes growing stronger. At that moment, he was beginning to suspect that something was off about Rainbow Paradise.

"I'm not nervous," Zhu'er replied, her gaze avoiding meeting Chen Hao's, "I just think you're eloquent and quick-witted, I'm afraid of being caught on my words, so I need to think it over before I answer you."

"So does overthinking count as a worry?"

Zhu'er's eyes suddenly widened, filled with panic.

"If you think it does, then it does; if not, then it doesn't. Right, we should hurry and get on the carriage; our King is waiting to enjoy dinner with you all." Zhu'er quickly changed the subject.

"Let's get on the carriage, boyfriend. There's no need for this futile verbal battle." Ye Yuqiao urged, taking Chen Hao by the hand and boarding the carriage, with Tang Jing and Xie Xiaofeng following close behind them.

Once the four were all on the carriage, Zhu'er finally breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from her forehead, thinking to herself that the people who had arrived today might be more difficult to handle than usual.

With the clopping of hooves, the carriage soared into the sky. This sensation was undoubtedly novel and unbelievable for the four passengers inside.

Once at a certain height, the carriage began moving forward smoothly.

"Wow, everyone, look outside!" Tang Jing exclaimed loudly as she looked out the window.

Driven by curiosity, Chen Hao pulled back the curtain and saw below that the houses were neatly arranged in rows and color-coded into seven distinct areas following the hues of the rainbow—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet—giving the whole of Rainbow Paradise a vibrant look. Between every two rows of houses was a wide street, paved with clouds, adding a dreamlike quality to Rainbow Paradise.

As the carriage bounded forward, Chen Hao saw several bustling plazas: elders danced in the center of the squares, youngsters skated around the edges with scooters and remote-controlled planes, while couples enjoyed each other's gaze and the sunshine beside fountains or on the grass. Witnessing the genuine smiles on everyone's faces, Chen Hao began to understand why the plump woman had said Rainbow Paradise was a place without worries.

Furthermore, Chen Hao saw children hoisting footballs on the clouds, men jogging slowly through the streets, and numerous readers enjoying coffee and books in the sunset's glowing light...

It seemed as if happiness was everywhere in Rainbow Paradise. Yet, it was this very reason that made Chen Hao feel that the place was even more suspicious.

"Boyfriend, which color house would you like to live in?" Ye Yuqiao suddenly asked Chen Hao in a soft whisper.

"I like pink."

"But there aren't any pink houses here."

Chen Hao smiled and explained, "The reason I like pink is because you remind me of pink, looking soft and tender."

"What a strange comparison."

After speeding through the air for some time, the carriage suddenly slowed down, then began descending gently.

Once more, Chen Hao pulled back the curtain, revealing a huge white palace before his eyes. Compared to the brightly colored surrounding houses, this white structure stood nearly thirty meters tall, making it exceptionally prominent within the entirety of Rainbow Paradise.

Two minutes later, the carriage stopped at the entrance of the palace.

"Everyone, we have arrived. This is the White Jade Hall of our Rainbow Paradise, where our King resides," Zhu'er announced as she pulled back the curtain and helped the passengers out of the carriage.

After disembarking, Chen Hao took a moment to carefully survey the White Jade Hall and discovered that it lived up to its name; the entire palace was constructed from milky white, semi-transparent jade that glowed orange in the sunset, appearing quite impressive and majestic.

Then, Chen Hao looked behind him to see a long flight of stairs with soldiers stationed at every few levels.

"Bringing us here, are we going to meet your King?" Chen Hao inquired of Zhu'er.

Zhu'er nodded, "Every person who comes to Rainbow Paradise is personally received by our King."

"So are we expected to bow down when we see him inside? Will it bring trouble upon me if I refuse to kneel?" Chen Hao questioned further.

Zhu'er smirked and shook her head, "No need for that. Everyone is here to have dinner with the King. After the meal, Zhu'er will take you all to your new homes. I'll stay with you all until you get used to life here."

"When can we leave this place? How do we leave?" Chen Hao asked again.

"That..." Zhu'er hesitated, her expression troubled.

Just then, a man walked out from the palace.
