My Girlfriend is the Nether King

Chapter 448: 053 Mortuary cosmetologist

After Chen Hao brought the woman onto the vehicle, Xie Xiaofeng immediately started the car and drove away.

"You bastard, weren't you supposed to go catch the old lady's son? How come you brought back a woman?" Tang Jing turned to look at Chen Hao with a questioning look.

As Chen Hao was tying up the woman with rope, he explained, "This woman is the old lady's son's wife, no, to be precise, she was the Yin Soul's wife when it was still alive. It was she who hired the Onmyoji to attach her deceased husband's Yin Soul to the old lady's son."

"So it was her idea!" Tang Jing exclaimed in surprise.

"Mmm!" Chen Hao nodded as he found a blindfold to put on the woman, "All right, this way when she wakes up later, she won't be able to see what we look like."

Xie Xiaofeng chuckled, then looking at Chen Hao in the rearview mirror, he asked, "You bastard, where to next?"

"Head towards the suburbs. We'll interrogate her in the car while you drive."

Twenty minutes later, the Exorcism Special Vehicle carrying Chen Hao and his companions arrived at a riverside road on the outskirts of F City. Since it was late at night and the wind was howling, the riverbank was desolate, with very few people around, and only occasionally a speeding car passing by.

Seeing the rippling river and the moon reflecting off it outside the window, Tang Jing couldn't help but sigh in admiration, "Wow, how beautiful!"

Just at that moment, the woman whom Chen Hao had knocked unconscious suddenly uttered two weak moans and her body twitched slightly.

"Shh!" All of a sudden Chen Hao's eyebrows tensed up, and he put his index finger to his lips, signaling Tang Jing to stop talking.

Tang Jing turned back to look at Chen Hao, blinked her eyes, and whispered in an extremely faint voice, "Got it!"

"Ah!" The woman lying on the back seat suddenly let out a piercing scream and sat up suddenly, her face showing extreme panic as she said, "Where is this? What do you want to do? Let me go!"

Chen Hao turned around, knelt on the seat, and deliberately spoke in a very deep and hoarse voice to the woman, "Don't worry about who we are! I'm asking you, do you still want to live?"

"Of course!" The woman trembled, her voice filled with terror, "I'll agree to give you whatever you want, just don't touch me or hurt me."

"We don't want your money, nor are we interested in you. We just want to ask you a few questions. If you are willing to tell the truth, we'll let you go tonight; if you don't cooperate, then don't blame us for being ruthless!"

"Ah!" The woman, frightened by Chen Hao's threat, let out another scream, then stammered, "Ask, I'll tell you everything I know."

"Alright!" Chen Hao's tone softened a bit, "I'll ask you first, is your current husband's returned overseas identity fake?"

In an instant, the woman stopped trembling, and she fell into a daze. After a long while, she began to open her mouth slightly, asking, "Why do you ask this?"

Her voice was much calmer compared to before.

"You're not in a position to question us," Chen Hao said coldly, his tone returning to its previous harshness, "Moreover, I think you'd rather ask us how we know about this, right?"

After hesitating for a while, the woman finally nodded.

"Heh!" Chen Hao let out a deep, cold chuckle, "I might as well tell you that not only do we know your new husband's overseas identity is fake, but we also know his real identity. He actually comes from a remote and secluded small mountain village."

Hearing what Chen Hao said, the woman's face immediately turned ashen.

After a long while, seeing that the woman remained silent, Chen Hao intentionally let out a cold laugh, then continued, "It seems I'm right! I might as well tell you more, I know that..."

"Enough!" The woman suddenly roared at Chen Hao, her tone then abruptly changing as she pleaded tearfully, "Please stop, I'll tell you whatever you want to know."

Chen Hao turned to look at Ye Yuqiao, exchanged a glance with her, then turned his gaze back to the woman and asked, "My question is simple: which Onmyoji helped revive your husband by borrowing another body for his soul?"

"No! I can't tell you!" the woman burst out excitedly, tears streaming down her face, "I promised them I would never reveal this, or they will surely not let us off, so please stop asking me."

"Oh?" Chen Hao's eyebrows furrowed slightly, "Who are 'they'?"

The woman shook her head, her tears had completely wet the blindfold, she cried, "Please, don't ask me anymore!"

"Why are you so afraid of them?"

"You don't know how terrifying they are, they are not even human!" the woman explained through tears.

"If you don't tell us, we will make sure you're not human either," Xie Xiaofeng suddenly interjected, threatening her.

Frightened by what Xie Xiaofeng said, the woman trembled even more violently and her sobs grew hoarser. Worried that her mental state wouldn't hold up under further fright, Chen Hao spoke in a calmer tone, "All you need to do is tell us who it was that helped your husband come back to life borrowing another body. You don't need to find them for us, they will have no way of knowing it was you who told us."

"What if you fall into their hands? What if they torture you?" the woman queried.

Hearing her say this, Chen Hao and the three others exchanged helpless glances with each other.

"Boyfriend, it seems that in her eyes, those Onmyoji who bring her husband back to life by possessing another body are omnipotent and extremely terrifying," Ye Yuqiao communicated to Chen Hao in code.

"Hmm," Chen Hao nodded slightly.

"Don't worry, we will absolutely not fall into their hands!" Xie Xiaofeng said, his tone clearly laced with impatience. After coughing twice, he continued, "Instead of worrying about whether we will fall into their hands, you should be more concerned about whether you can even survive tonight."

With that, Xie Xiaofeng rolled down the car window, and a howling, cold wind squeezed in.

"Let me tell you, I'm running out of patience, and if you don't start talking, I will throw you into the river. But don't worry, we won't let you be a lonely water ghost; we'll have your second husband join you!" Xie Xiaofeng said.

Once the car window was closed, the howling sound subsided inside the car, replaced by the woman's mournful and piercing cries.

After a while, Xie Xiaofeng let out an annoyed and displeased grunt. Upon hearing his grunt, the woman quickly said in a rush, "I'll talk, I'll tell you!"

Chen Hao turned around, smiled at Xie Xiaofeng, and gave a thumbs up.

After sobbing a few times, the woman told Chen Hao and the other three people:

"A few months ago, a few days before the New Year on a rainy night.

As she sat at home waiting for her husband to return, she suddenly received a phone call from the hospital. They informed her that her husband had been in a major car accident an hour ago and was declared dead after futile resuscitation by the doctors. By the time the woman felt her way to the hospital from home, her husband had already been sent to the hospital morgue for body preparation.

After seeing her husband's bloody and pale corpse in the morgue, she couldn't hold back her sadness and fainted. When she woke up, she found herself lying in a rest room of the hospital morgue.

To her absolute shock, sitting by the bedside watching her was none other than her husband. Just as she had seen him before fainting, he was covered in blood, and his face was as green as a ghost from the rumors. Although she was somewhat afraid, the woman couldn't restrain her excitement and threw herself into her husband's arms crying.

After a moment, she pulled away from her husband's embrace and asked if he had become a ghost.

Her husband was just about to respond when the door to the rest room suddenly opened, and an old man with white hair in a white lab coat rushed in. After thinking for a moment, she recognized this old man as the one who had just prepared her husband's body.

Without another word, the old man used a strange bottle to suck her husband into it.

Before she could make sense of what had just happened in front of her, the white-haired old man looked at her expressionlessly and asked, "Tell me, do you want to see your husband again?"

She dumbly nodded her head.

"You should know that he died in a car accident!"

She pursed her lips and nodded again, tears streaming once more.

"I have a way to resurrect your husband," the old man suddenly let out a cold laugh.

"Impossible!" she shook her head repeatedly, thinking the idea was utterly absurd.

The old man gave another sinister cold smirk and said, "Wasn't that person you just saw your husband?"

After saying this, the old man opened the bottle in his hand and let her husband out.

"Wife, it's so cold inside, I'm very uncomfortable," her husband said, sitting beside her bed and tightly hugging her.

"Husband, is it really you?"

"It's me, wife. This is my ghost. I just died in a car accident and became a ghost!" her husband said, clutching her hand. He then pointed his Yin Soul finger at the white-haired old man and continued, "But this master says he can resurrect me. Wife, you must save me."

Looking into her husband's pleading eyes, she shook her head helplessly and cried, "Husband, I'm not a deity; how can I save you?"

"It's simple, just give me one-fourth of your family's assets, and leave the rest to us. I guarantee that within seven days, your husband will come back to life."

"One-fourth!" she exclaimed, thinking not just one-fourth, but even if it meant exchanging all her family's assets for her husband's life, she would be willing. "As long as you can truly bring my husband back to life, I promise to transfer one-fourth of the assets to the account you designate within three months."

"Is that a deal?" the old man asked with a smile. "But there's something I must clarify beforehand."

"What is it?"

"Your husband's natural life is over; we can only bring him back by attaching his Yin Soul to another body."

"What!" she was greatly shocked at that moment, "That's not my husband then?"

"It's still your husband, with the same memories and thoughts, just in another younger body, that's all."

Seeing her hesitation, her husband took her hand and pleaded, "Wife, it's the same, just with a different face, but the heart that loves you is still the same!"
