After rapidly falling for a while, King Xin and Tao Hua finally landed with Chen Hao on the peak of one of the mountains of Jade Maiden Mountain.
Although the peak was covered in vast expanses of snow, it was still warmer than being above the clouds. At last, Chen Hao didn't need to force his Yang Energy out of his body to prevent the loss of warmth.
"Is this Jade Maiden Mountain?" Chen Hao looked around and asked.
"Mhm!" Tao Hua nodded, then frowned and asked Chen Hao, "How come you're not at all afraid? You might die soon."
"If I weren't afraid, would that mean I wouldn't have to die?" Chen Hao asked with a smile.
"You!" Tao Hua frowned, a trace of displeasure on her face, and then pouted, muttering, "Isn't someone worried about you?"
"Worried about me?" Chen Hao chuckled scornfully, then with disdain said, "Should I thank you for your concern, then? I really wonder who it was that brought me here!"
"Don't waste your breath on him!" King Xin said indifferently, "Take him to the Fairy Cave!"
With that, King Xin quickly moved forward, disappearing into the hazy snow mist ahead.
"Let's go!" Tao Hua said to Chen Hao.
"How am I supposed to walk with you wrapping me up from head to toe?" Chen Hao asked.
After snorting, Tao Hua used the peach branches entwined around Chen Hao to drag him forward, murmuring, "Such a troublesome guy."
As he was dragged by the peach branches for a distance, waves of nauseating stench hit Chen Hao's nose with the incoming wind. Since the mountain peak was mostly covered in thick snow, Chen Hao had to use the Nether Vision Technique again, turning his gaze to the east from where the foul smell was emanating.
Immediately, his vision passed through the thick layer of snow, and he saw countless heads buried in the snow at various depths. Some of these heads had turned into white skeletons, while others had a deathly pallor, shriveled skin, and hollow eyes.
Among those heads that hadn't completely dried up into skeletons, the vast majority were not intact, each having various defects. Some were missing their left eyes, some were without noses, some had an inch of skin missing from their faces, and some had the top half of their foreheads neatly carved out, leaving a tidy wound.
At this sight, Chen Hao's heart skipped a beat, and a surge of electricity seemed to flow through all his veins, causing his scalp to tingle and his body to shiver.
There were at least three hundred heads! That meant over three hundred lives, and this was without including the other places from where the foul smell was coming.
After being stunned for a while, Chen Hao regained his composure, his face deathly pale, and he couldn't help but ask Tao Hua, who was floating on his left side, "Did you collect these hundreds of heads from all around?"
"Mhm!" Tao Hua coldly nodded.
"Why!" Chen Hao's voice was hoarse as he said, struggling to suppress the fury in his heart, "Why would you do this? And, why are all those people's faces incomplete?"
"For a man," Tao Hua said softly.
"A man?" Chen Hao was baffled, with a flicker of rage in his eyes.
Tao Hua made a "mhm" sound, then continued, "You'll understand once you get to the Fairy Cave, but you're going to die as well."
Chen Hao just snorted in anger, without saying another word. He was desperately eager to enter the Fairy Cave and unravel all the mysteries, and then he was determined to take revenge on King Xin and Tao Hua for all those innocents who lost their lives at their hands and whose bodies were mutilated.
Twenty minutes later, Tao Hua led Chen Hao to a cave entrance.
Despite the darkness at the cave entrance, Chen Hao saw through the Nether Vision that the world inside was a hidden paradise. At the end of the cave lay a large room resembling a boudoir. Embedded in the stone walls were countless gems, sparkling and adorning the room like stars in the night sky.
On the left side of the room was a steaming fountain. Behind a screen stood a large bed, and by the bedside wall there was a dressing table with a bronze mirror on it.
Based solely on these antique furnishings, Chen Hao guessed this was King Xin's room.
If he had only seen this much, Chen Hao would have thought the room peculiar but not in any way eerie. However, his shock was palpable when his gaze shifted to the right and he spotted a man's head encased in ice.
It was the face of a man with a bronze complexion, his eyes lacking any light. The most striking feature of his head was his mouth—or rather, the place where his mouth should have been.
He had no mouth!
From the gaping hole where his mouth once was, Chen Hao could see a greenish tongue and pristine white teeth.
"Why does this man not have a mouth?" Chen Hao muttered to himself.
"Did you see that man?" Tao Hua's somber voice suddenly rose, and then she moved closer to Chen Hao, furrowing her brows as she scrutinized his eyes intently.
Before he had time to close the Nether Vision Technique, Chen Hao's gaze penetrated Tao Hua's clothing, laying bare what was underneath.
"This must be the so-called tender skin!" Chen Hao couldn't help but lament inwardly, feeling secretly relieved that Ye Yuqiao had not yet awakened from her coma. Then he shut off the Nether Vision Technique in his left eye and said, expressionless, "Have you not had your fill of staring at my face all day?"
"Why is there something so strange about your left eye!" Tao Hua squinted, pondering.
With that, she raised her willowy left hand toward Chen Hao's left eye. Immediately, the purple Sealing Talisman emerged on Chen Hao's left eye under the pressure from the Tree Demon's power in her palm.
"You possess enchanted powers!" Tao Hua exclaimed.
Suddenly, Chen Hao freed his left hand from the entangling peach branches and grasped Tao Hua's slender left hand, asking vehemently, "What is the deal with the man inside here?"
"It won't hurt to tell you!"
King Xin's voice came from above, laden with a powerful force that put pressure on Chen Hao, letting him realize the significant gap between their strengths.
"You said I was the last piece of the puzzle, does that mean you want to rip my mouth off to sew onto that man's face?" Chen Hao asked.
"Exactly!"
As a formidable Yin Qi approached, King Xin reappeared before Chen Hao, knife in hand.
It was a scalpel commonly used by doctors in hospitals.
"Your mouth is almost identical to his!" King Xin said with a smirk, "To find a mouth just like his, I have searched for three whole years."
"Who is he? Where did his mouth go?"
"A man I will never be able to find!" King Xin declared.
"Not able to find?" Chen Hao was taken aback, his face showing utter horror. "So the head inside is not his own, but..."
