Seamus eyes looking around the new scenery in his new island, named Rowani. The moment he got out of the private jet, his smell was welcomed by the salty and fishy air of the ocean and warm sunlight.
This was the territory of Draemir and he thought it would be as gloomy as Bork. But it was totally different, everything looked gold, even the ocean he could see from here.
Behind was a mountain range, green and cooling.
"Oh wow, I thought this place will be as sad as Bork." he murmured.
"Not everyone loves cold, humid, and dark places." someone behind him suddenly said as he turned around to see Fleur.
Their introduction was kinda flat, just shaking hands and that's it. The woman seemed not to care about him and to be done with.
Different from some vampires that jump on him to just suck his blood and gain power.
"Now move, don't just stand there." she said, the music in her earphone could be heard clearly.
Seamus just rolled his eyes as now he was indeed blocking the way out as he was in the private jet stairs.
"Don't be so rude, Fleur. Everything is new for him." Isolde chimed from behind, "Afterall he is just a 'normal' eighteen years old human being."
Hearing that woman's voice made him even more irritated as he finally got down the stairs. He didn't have any baggage with him since the servant did all the things.
As they finally left the airport, they were welcomed by sedans as all of them went inside.
Seamus was in the same car with Isolde and Diane who was sleeping on his shoulder while Madeline was beside the driver.
"Why can't we just use teleportation?" he said as he was uncomfortable with Isolde holding his arm and sticking close to him.
"We are being considerate of you. Don't you want to see the town first?" Isolde said, putting her head on his shoulder.
"Don't you get burned by the sun?" he lifted his brow, "Also, I can't see the scenery if you keep sticking on me."
"It just makes us sunburn and uncomfortable itch." she shrugged and hugged his arms more, "Don't you like clingy women? What's wrong with me wanting to be close to you? Don't you want to know my plan?"
Seamus pulled his arm, "What's your plan then? You don't need to be clingy."
But Isolde grab was stronger, "Don't be shy, we have sex lots of time already and why don't we get lunch for you?"
The wrinkles in his brow became even more prominent as he didn't understand why she turned like this.
It scares him and irritates him irritated even more.
'Is she hoping to fix our relationship after all of shit that has happened because of her?!' he clicked his tongue.
"I don't need…"
Before he could finish, his stomach grumbled loudly. Even Diane, who had been asleep, opened her eyes just to snort.
She had not been asleep at all. She simply wanted to avoid another round of awkwardness like the one she witnessed when Seamus spoke with Andrew.
"It is fine. We can stop," Isolde said with a gentle smile.
Her eyes gleamed with the temptation to tease him, but she held herself back.
"Right, Madeline? You must be hungry too."
"Do not talk to me," Madeline replied, completely deadpan.
"Also, yes. Stop in front of that restaurant. It looks good."
The sedan pulled over, and they all stepped out. The restaurant was busy, so they made a reservation and waited in the lobby.
The group settled into a lazy sprawl on the couches, each passing the time in their own way.
Seamus let his eyes wander. The architecture around them was unlike anything he had seen in Bork. The buildings were decorated with tall columns and intricate statues.
Everything carried the elegance of a renaissance city. In the distance, a cathedral bell rang softly, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.
"Look at that tall building, Seamus. That is your university," Isolde said suddenly.
His eyes widened. "I still need to go to college?"
The idea felt strange. Why attend classes when he could train and get stronger to defend himself?
"Is that not a waste of time?"
Isolde shook her head. "You are just like Diane, and it is a little disappointing."
"What did I do?" Diane protested.
"I like learning. Ask Madeline. I already have three degrees. Why do I need more?"
"Learning in a library is different from learning through discussion and guidance," Isolde said calmly. "Knowledge changes every year. It grows as technology advances."
She turned back to Seamus. "And you should know that you are lucky to be born in this era. Social status is not tied to blood anymore."
"Education is one of the clearest paths to raise your standing, find work, and become a functioning part of society. Is that not important for humans?"
"And didn't you say you wanted to be a patriarch? Then, learn properly first before dreaming."
Seamus blinked. He never expected Isolde to have such a broad perspective on education, especially considering she was a centuries-old vampire who could probably shred a book faster than she could read one.
He stayed quiet after that. He did not have a strong argument to counter her words, and before he could think of one, the staff called their name.
The group finally walked inside and took their seats in the restaurant.
They ordered quickly, and the food arrived in about twenty five minutes since the only ones actually eating were Madeline and Seamus.
The table settled into a quiet rhythm, the clatter of plates filling the space while the others simply observed.
Seamus found himself watching Madeline as she lifted a forkful of pasta to her mouth. The sight felt oddly casual for someone like her, and curiosity slipped out before he could stop it.
"I didn't know you could eat. Aren't you a vampire too?" he asked.
Isolde laughed softly, and Diane leaned in with the answer before Madeline could respond. "If you ask her, she'll just say she's a special type of vampire. That's the only explanation you'll ever get."
"Still strange," Seamus murmured, although his attention stayed on Madeline.
She nudged his foot under the table, firm enough to startle him. "Don't you have something more important to ask?"
Her tone pushed his thoughts back to the conversation they were supposed to be having. He straightened and finally nodded, understanding her point.
"Right. I wanted to ask why we're in Rowani, inside Draemir territory, and not in Velstrath. Diane told me our castle is on another island not far from here."
Isolde rested her elbows lightly on the table, her gaze drifting upward as if weighing how much she wanted to reveal. When she spoke, her voice was calm and deliberate.
"Let's just say I wanted to avoid a brutal confrontation with the other Houses. Draemir's island stands alone without any active Covenants nearby, aside from distant territories like ours."
"That makes this place the safest option to hide, especially because Draemir holds influence among the Seven Great Covenants."
Madeline scoffed, unable to let the explanation go unchallenged. "Avoiding confrontation. Really. Aren't you usually the one who wants that confrontation so you can destroy the other Houses?"
Isolde waved the accusation away and rolled her eyes. "I'm not Corvane. I know when to back off and hide."
She then turned to Seamus, her voice softer but with clear intent.
"Besides, your father used to be part of the Vampire Hunter Association here. Don't you want to know about his past?"
The shift in topic hit him harder than he expected. Seamus almost choked on his lobster and reached immediately for his drink, gulping it down as he stared at her in disbelief.
The room felt smaller for a moment, but he didn't argue. She had a point.
Even if he said he no longer cared about Andrew, a part of him still wanted answers he never received.
"It might be good for you, Seamus," Isolde said, her tone steady. "You might find something you've been searching for."
Seamus set his fork down and leaned back slightly, finally voicing the suspicion that had been growing in him since they landed.
"What are you planning, really? I know it's not as simple as hiding, and it's not just about me learning his past."
Isolde's smile shifted into something far darker, the sweetness peeling away as she tilted her head.
In that moment she looked more like the Isolde he knew, the one who could twist a situation with a single thought.
"Seamus, did you know your father destroyed two Houses that were part of the Seven Great Covenants?" Her tone was calm, but her eyes sharpened.
"It was not as grand as it sounds, because both Houses were already dying. But he did destroy them, and because of that, I want to find their Emblem of Enigma and take the crest they carried."
The statement hit him like a sudden blow. He stared at her, stunned that she had revealed something so heavy so casually.
He had never imagined Andrew as someone capable of taking down entire Houses, even weakened ones.
The idea unsettled him, and the mention of a crest made his chest tighten with unease.
"What do you need the crest for?" he asked quietly.
Isolde folded her hands, her expression unwavering. "To summon the False God."
