"So," Hailey began. "What is Psionic energy? How many of you actually know what it is exactly that empowers your form? What is it that courses through your veins as you take it into yourself to make yourself stronger?"

Someone who then didn't seem to grasp the concept of rhetorical questions, suddenly raised his hand and blurted out. "Space magic?"

I pinched my glabella as I resisted the urge to chuckle, it wasn't fair to do so since it was literally an introduction to the subject, but I still found it funny because I use the term space magic in a joking way, it wasn't that at all.

"Hmm, Maybe I shouldn't have used that term earlier. Magic is what you call something you don't understand. What 'Magic' actually is , is just science we don't yet understand. Fortunately for you, you won't have to keep thinking it is 'magic' for long."

Hailey replied before signalling towards Gabrielle and continued as Gabrielle moved to the desk. "Gravity, Thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, energy transference. All these have something in common. They are universal laws. absolute, they cannot be changed..."

She paused for dramatic effect and handed over a pile of discs to Gabrielle and continued. "By conventional means that is. Psionic energy is another universal law within our universe, but unlike a solid law like gravity, Psionics have the ability to literally break the laws of the universe for the benefit of the ones that can use it."

Gabrielle then placed a stack of discs in front of me, giving me a wink then walking back to the desk next to Hailey to retrieve more. "When you have a set of discs in front of you, take one and pass the rest back please. Now then."

I did as she said and continued to listen.

" Of course, Psionics aren't always that... Grand. Sometimes the effect isn't lawbreaking, but it is still incredible. Being able to do something our entire species isn't able to do. For example I can use my Psionics and literally reach out and grab things with my mind, something we as humans cannot do. So while we aren't breaking a universal law in that regard, I am still using my own Psionic energy to transfer an object over to me, like this..."

Hailey looked up into the room and someone's face became shocked as his communicator was snatched from his hand and a few moments later was in Hailey's. She placed it down on her desk before shaking her head.

"While I used my own energy, I'm not breaking universal laws, but I still broke a more local law of our evolution. Literally using my mind power to move the object. That is a very important thing you need to remember every time you use your power. You are going against natural order. Which is why it's imperative for you to basically inhale knowledge during your time here. You will be told countless times in other classes to the point you will start hating the word knowledge and getting PTSD every time it's spoken around you, but we tell you this just because of how important it is to understand what you are doing."

I rubbed my chin hearing this in deep contemplation. I had to give Hailey credit, she was giving them basic information, but knowing more about the depth of Psionics, I knew she was missing quite a bit of detail, such as-

To my surprise, a voice I recognised, but did not see enter earlier suddenly asked from the back. "Princess Hailey? I have heard from a source that Psionics are kind of symbiotic to us and sort of living in a way different to how we perceive conventional life. Is that true?"

Hailey raised her eyebrow hearing this, surprised by the first year who, now that she got a good look at was in... Apollo's dispensation... 'I shouldn't be surprised.' "That is quite the advanced topic Althea, perhaps if you are taking Psionic Philosophy you could discuss that theory, but not here. However, personally, yes I believe that as well."

"Hmm, I didn't plan on stopping at this moment, but while we wait for the rest of the discs to be spread out, now might be a good time to see if anyone has any other questions about what I just said? While I would prefer for you to stay silent with your hand up until I call on you instead of blurting out whenever it takes your whim, I do approve of questions in this class as it will only help benefit your other classes."

A shaky hand went up and Hailey called on it. "S-So you are saying that when I use my power, I am breaking reality? Isn't that, I don't know? Incredibly dangerous?"

Hailey responded after a moment. "Yes and no. Dangerous to you? most likely not. Touching a bit into what that woman just brought up with Psionic energy being Symbiotic. Your own energy only wants what is best for you. As such it will also protect you from the paradox you are creating. Don't worry, you will get to learn about all of this in coming classes. Just know for now, when you use your power, you should be safe, the people around you however? Depending on your power not so much, so always remain vigilant when using your power. Any other questions?"

Another then raised their hands and asked their question. "You mentioned earlier you used your Mind for your telekinesis. Is that because of the Mindspace? Or just because of the power you have that you have to channel it from your head?"

Hailey pointed to the raised hand and praised. "Excellent question and one that brings us into the next topic today. The Mindspace. The Mindspace. You most likely would have heard this term floated around quite a bit if you have spoken to any of the years above you.

The Mindspace is the hearth of your Psionic power. It is a paradoxical sub realm within your 'head' that hosts your Psionic Origin. Your Psionic Origin is unique to you and no two look alike. This is what developed when you awakened your power. Your Origin flared to life and created your Mindspace.

Your Origin has multiple ways of activating. Or the term we prefer to use, Awakening. From Trauma, to pleasure, all intense emotions like grief, that is a big one. Preventing an injury. Near death experiences and randomly waking up with your powers after a good sleep. There are even cases where individuals are born with Psionics, but those are beyond rare by Psionic standard. Meaning it's practically improbable. There are other ways, but they are far too dangerous and will be discussed later."

Janine then looked at me for a moment, the first time her eyes hadn't been transfixed by what Hailey was saying. Absorbing every word. Before she could speak, as I knew exactly what she was thinking, I extended my telepathy to her.

'What I did to you required trust most people in Spartari are not capable of. And again, do not tell anyone how I awoke you... I hope Mindy doesn't say anything either.' I couldn't help thinking before unlinking with Janine. If word got out that I could awaken people, I would have to peace the scene, due to the massive target on my back.

"Your Mindspace is where you naturally accumulate Psionic energy due to your Origin acting like a magnet, drawing it in from the Psionic plane. A sub dimension of our reality that is all around us and at the same time not." Hailey had resumed during our telepathic moment.

"What? How can something both exist and not exist around us? That makes no sense? Um. Sorry." Hailey shook her head. "I cannot fault you for thinking academically as you are correct. That doesn't make sense. But what did I just say about Psionics? Anyone?

I raised my hand and Hailey pointed to me. With a smile, I spoke with confidence and clarity. "Psionics can circumvent natural law." Hailey nodded. "Exactly. Why can something exist and not exist all around us? Because that is how Psionics function. It is both incredibly simple and incredibly complicated. A paradox, but why does that work?" She then pointed at me again, prompting me to repeat.

"Because Psionics can circumvent natural law."

Hailey's ice façade has almost just shattered. Having back and forth with Apollo as she taught him was exactly what she wanted when she phoned up her life provider nine months ago to get her in here.

She felt her emotions begin to pile up so she coughed to reclaim her equilibrium and continued. "precisely."

"Now. So far I have told you three things. Knowledge will be your anchor going forward, Psionics bully set in stone laws of the universe like they owe it lunch money, and that your Paradoxical Mindspace is the central point of your power going forward. Which brings me into the next topic you will be learning about throughout the year and what you will all be definitely excited by." She paused again for dramatic effect before asking

"So, how do we make our Psionics stronger and control them better?"
