"The Great Tang Chang'an City?"
"Really from that galaxy that looks so barren?"
"It seems so."
"Oni, quickly check what they've written in their letter!"
"Don't rush, don't rush! Daisen, you need to understand, from the Milky Way to here, at normal spatial speed, it takes about four hundred years of travel. That means they wrote the letter to us four hundred years ago; why are we in such a hurry now?"
"Well, that's true too, but I'm still too excited! New friends, Oni, new friends!"
"Alright, it's already been fully received. Let's take a look at the friendly letter from this new friend. Our neighboring Milky Way finally has someone we can communicate with."
"Yes, that little blue orb is too weak, it can't even pick up soul wavelength signals, can't receive our channels. Otherwise, if they could communicate, we could provide some technical support to each other."
...
Their civilization seems quite friendly.
After all, according to the predictions of the ministers from the Hall of State Affairs,
although these civilizations are highly advanced, they only use light-speed ships as ordinary spacecraft. Although spatial speed ships already exist, space jumps consume too much; the fuel could ignite half a star, making them essentially ornamentations.
The primary use of spatial transmission is to send message letters, which are extremely light and consume the least energy.
So, like other advanced civilizations, they find it very difficult to leave their land and can only expand to surrounding galaxies at the extremely slow speed of light.
And as highly developed civilizations, they have long since had no worries about resources, food, clothing, or shelter. Without material needs, they have long entered the realm of "spiritual needs."
So, civilizations that cannot leave their hometown and have spiritual needs typically are "peaceful."
This is an "Era of Messengers," where civilizations rarely have direct contact and can only communicate through letters, everyone starting to negotiate friendly.
Yet even so, their "friends" are surprisingly few, only some nearby neighbors.
Soon, they opened the letter.
Very brief.
"We come from another universe, the Great Tang Chang'an City. In three days, the Tang envoy, Minister of the Ministry of War, will arrive on this land, hoping to have friendly exchanges with you."
They looked blankly.
"Hahaha, is this civilization a humorous civilization? From another universe?"
"Oni, arriving in three days? Their speed is too exaggerated, right?"
"No, no, no, Daisen, perhaps they are a friendly race that likes to amuse and surprise us!"
"Makes sense, they like surprises like us, they must get along with us. Let's see what kind of surprise they give us three days later. Is it the next letter prepared hundreds of years in advance?"
"Oh, that would be sincere! Continuously sending us letters, I really want to write back to them immediately, but unfortunately, they'll only receive our message hundreds of years later."
"Don't rush, let's wait a bit more in three days."
"Ah! Their three days might be different from ours, after all, they probably don't understand our planet's revolution and rotation periods."
...
Three days, just a short time.
But soon they were amazed to find that three days later, there really were anomalies in the sky.
This surprised the civilization somewhat.
After all, punctuality means the other party must have secretly observed their planet's information to get the time cycle.
That means the other party is definitely not new to this communication level civilization, but... why had there been no noise from them before in the Milky Way?
"Oni, it seems the other party has been observing us for a long time, they even know our time."
"Definitely a voyeur, watching our neighbors exchanging messages, peeping at our correspondence... After all, as long as they don't make a sound, hide their existence, we can't find them."
"Wow! The other party is so creepy."
"Daisen, don't rush, let's see their new letter, which must be very interesting—"
Before they finished their words, they suddenly opened their mouths wide, letting out a terrifying scream they had never made in their lives.
Ah!!!!
Along with the horrified screams,
they saw in their sky, a gigantic, ornate palace slowly stopping and approaching.
"Daisen, Daisen!! How is that possible!!? They really came?"
"Our detection instruments didn't detect anything nearby, appearing out of nowhere? What kind of speed is this?"
"Osen, quickly sound the alarm, attack! Attack! Our civilization is about to be destroyed!" A very exaggerated voice came through.
"Stop it, I'm Oni, you're Daisen, don't get mixed up, brother!"
"Whatever, we're done for, we're doomed..."
...
In one fairy-tale-like colorful building after another, numerous creatures resembling catfish came out, screaming.
Yes, everyone was aware of the universal knowledge.
If a civilization suddenly jumps to one's proximity, it is surely an attack, a fish-dyeing-net type of attack!
Absolutely not a friendly visit!
Because if the other party leaps a planetary system, it must have burned the resources of their own galactic region, there's no way back, friendly or hostile alike, it would ultimately turn hostile!
This is the cosmic civilization rule and law.
If they jumped over, only one side between them could survive!
Because in this area's resources, even if abundant, they couldn't possibly coexist peacefully!
When confronting each other, the universal sloth law advances into mutual slaughter known as the cosmic dark forest law!
Is the other party foolish, doing such a stupid thing? Even if they certainly win, they wouldn't do such a useless act, invasion has no meaning at all for them.
"The Great Tang Chang'an City, with no hostility, comes to visit."
From the sky, a voice came through.
It was a city, a young man wearing a Tang Dynasty gown slowly walked out, followed by a Minotaur wearing an official hat, slowly cupping his hands and saying, "We already sent a visiting card in advance, we are here for friendship."
From below, there came two trembling voices from the cluster of stars.
"We're done for, Daisen, you go."
"No, no, no, Oni, you go welcome them."
...
Zhu Zhengwei looked down at them.
The two trembling cartoonish figures pushing each other.
They weren't the leaders of the two civilizations, but the central intelligent cores of two super-civilizations. Apparently, this civilization might have some unique hobbies, designing their central intelligence in a rather humorous way.
They had lived in peace for too long, becoming a fairy-tale-like civilization, and hadn't even had time to switch their central computing intelligence from comedy mode back to war mode.
