Chaotic World Book

Chapter 788: Another Exploration of Karma

Of course, Zhao Changhe couldn't know what was happening far away at Hangu Pass; his eyes couldn't see that far.

After dual cultivation with Yue Hongling, his injuries slightly recovered, but Zhao Changhe still had plenty of things to do.

When he awoke, Yue Hongling was asleep, not because she was overwhelmed, but because the battle and dual cultivation had given her a realization, sinking into a meditation... Zhao Changhe didn't disturb her, sensing his own state.

The injuries weren't much better, but his cultivation limit was increasing.

Battle has always been the best tempering for people, especially for someone like him who practiced Blood Refinement. Even though he has moved beyond the stage of cultivating evil for advancement, such a battle still brings significant improvement. And this place was meticulously crafted by the Longevity Heavenly God for his own awakening, constructing a very complete Spirit Gathering Array, with the surrounding boundless Power of Faith energy now ownerless. Others might not use it, but after practicing the Qi Meridian Book, it's very easy for him to employ, no different from soaking in a Spiritual Spring.

Just this dual cultivation and healing session alone, the benefits he received were immeasurable, and Yue Hongling simply went into meditation.

This place can still be cultivated for a while longer, perhaps even bring San Niang along to absorb the accumulated Faith Energy here before moving on...

He took out the newly acquired Book of Truth Illusion to ponder over it and was surprised that the blind one still hadn't appeared... According to reason, each time he got a Heavenly Book, her feedback was quite apparent, but this time was unusually silent, which made Zhao Changhe a bit unaccustomed. He tried calling a couple of times, but there was no response... Zhao Changhe didn't dwell on it and directly read the book.

This page of the Book of Truth Illusion... strictly speaking, it's called 'Existence and Non-existence.' To argue its abstractness level, it might not be as high as the previous page, the Book of Cause and Effect. But because it combines with the Qi Meridian Page and has some guidance from the blind one, you can at least see a line of cause and effect... Even if you see it, you can't necessarily do anything about it, and you might not even discern what cause and effect it represents, but at least there's something 'visible.' As long as it's visible, people feel much more reassured, thinking they'll eventually be able to grasp it.

This in itself is the value brought by 'existence,' allowing people to see and cognize.

This page of 'Existence and Non-existence,' on the other hand, leaves people utterly baffled, with nothing at all to see, let alone expecting any VR scenes to demonstrate it like on previous pages. It primarily embraces abstraction.

The proposition of Existence and Non-existence first relies on definition. Just like an empty pocket at the moment, asking if there's something inside first requires defining what 'something' is. Does it refer to money or goods? There's none. But there is air, dust, and yet-unknown or unobserved particles. Without proper definition, discussing existence and non-existence can go on endlessly.

At this moment on this page, if you ask if there's a camisole, there definitely isn't. So what is there? There's a law.

By this analogy, the law this points to must specifically target a clearly defined goal. For example, a Dragon Sparrow in a specific time and place here would be 'existent,' and elsewhere would be 'non-existent.' If not here yet can be seen, that is illusion; here but can't be seen, that is concealed.

The transformation between Existence and Non-existence isn't something easily practiced, at least not at his current level. The most he can gain from it now is an experience of Truth and Illusion, Virtual and Real. Even the blind one didn't dare to call this page the Book of Existence and Non-existence, only daring to call it the Book of Truth Illusion.

It's no wonder the Longevity Heavenly God held it for so long without learning much, and Lie directly tossed it aside, "not aligning with my path."

However, for the Bodhisattva, this Heavenly Book could easily elevate his Illusion Technique to its pinnacle... though it feels a bit like using a cannon to shoot mosquitoes, using such divine objects just to refine Illusion Technique...

One wonders what the blind one and Jiuyou could gain from it... for instance, might she conjure a body out of thin air for the blind one? It's not impossible. Theoretically, as long as it falls under something defined by the Heavenly Dao, it should be able to create something from nothing via this Heavenly Book, making it deserving of being considered a law... it could also be the most core page forming the world itself.

Zhao Changhe also didn't want to use this to learn any Illusion Technique, at most to learn Break Illusion.

What he wanted more was to learn about the Virtual and Real. The concepts of Virtual/Real and Truth/Illusion are not the same, but their essence is similar, requiring the precondition of discerning truth, the ability to see through the essence.

For example... Zhao Changhe focused his energy into his eyes, earnestly observing the line of cause and effect between himself and Yue Hongling.

Does this thing called cause and effect exist? It surely exists. But it's invisible, a concept of virtuality, yet since it exists, it can manifest as reality.

By using the Qi Observation Skill, coupled with this page of the Heavenly Book, Zhao Changhe could clearly recognize the actual concept of the lines between himself and Yue Hongling.

The beginning point, that is, grace.

The grace of Yue Hongling saving him, the cause of all subsequent results, the beginning of all fateful connections between them.

Under this beginning, many lines could have originally spread out, like the possible master-disciple line, for he once wished to learn martial arts from Yue Hongling, but that line was already severed. The continuing line was admiration, "That's the Worldly Society in my heart," "I too want to become such a person," this line continuing after the grace and righteousness, intertwined with a natural desire of a man for a beautiful woman, spiraling together to become a thicker and thicker line.

This line bore new fruition at the moment of the lady of Beimang... Zhao Changhe's face turned a bit red because he realized that by then, he already held affection for Hongling. It turns out he had fallen in love with her at that time... without seeing it so plainly, he really didn't dare to admit it.
