Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1930: The Plan Fails

"So what if I kill you? You think you can hide from my eyes by blending in with the Barbarian Tribe?" Jiang Yichun sneered, though he was speaking to a corpse.

He quickly left with the corpse, soon finding a secluded spot to conduct a careful examination.

He should have left someone alive for interrogation, but this person knew martial arts, and Jiang wasn't sure if there were special ways of contacting Sangji. He dared not alert the enemy and could only ensure a kill strike, so the person had no chance to resist.

He soon discovered an object resembling a whistle, suspecting it to be a means of communicating with Sangji. He hastily wrapped it in cloth and carefully tucked it into his chest.

Additionally, there was a faint smell of blood on the person, something Jiang had noticed on Honglian before. Ever since he was cursed with the Thousand-Person Blood Curse, he had become particularly sensitive to the scent of blood.

If this person wasn't a trusted aide of Sangji, then they must be part of Honglian's underlings.

After another careful inspection, he found no snake marks or special symbols on the person.

Finally, he carefully buried the person and sneaked back into the camp.

By evening, Sangji organized a Bonfire Party within the tribe and invited Ao Song and their group to join. Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun were also present, observing Sangji closely.

Sangji appeared just as he did when they had last seen him. Bai Ruozhu was certain that his body wouldn't hold up for many more years, but there were no signs of deterioration. Yet, thinking about his dealings with snakes, she realized that medical science alone could no longer judge many things.

"Lady Ao Song, having traveled from afar, I, on behalf of the Barbarian Tribe, offer you a toast, hoping you find a good husband soon," Sangji said as he raised his cup to Ao Song and downed it in one gulp.

His manner was not like that of the typical Barbarian Tribe person. Instead, it was elegant akin to a cultured scholar from Zhongyuan, making him a pleasing sight.

Ao Song's eyes sparkled as she looked at him, "Someone like the Regent King would be nice; I don't like brute people."

The Barbarian Tribe joined in the cheer, with someone even loudly saying, "Lord Sangji, seems the lady has taken a liking to you."

Ao Song showed a shy expression, but her large eyes were filled with tender affection as she gazed at Sangji, seemingly awaiting his response.

Sangji's eyes flashed with aversion, but he quickly plastered a smile on his face, "I, Sangji, am not worthy; this body of mine won't last for many more years. I wouldn't want to waste a good lady's life. Please, Lady Ao Song, don't joke with me."

Mentioning his impending death dampened everyone's spirits; Sangji indeed held a considerable position in the hearts of the Barbarian Tribe.

Bai Ruozhu lowered her head to hide the sarcastic look in her eyes. If the Barbarian Tribe knew Sangji was hiding his true nature, would they still have the same expression?

Ao Song appeared surprised, "How could it be? You have a heart disease, right? But heart disease shouldn't lead to an early death at your age, right?"

The person accompanying Ao Song on her tour quickly spoke up, "Lord, Lady Ao Song says she has ways to treat heart disease. Her family has many ancient medical books."

Clearly, Sangji didn't believe Ao Song. He shook his head and said, "Even Madam Bai couldn't cure me back then, so there's no need to trouble Lady Ao Song."

"I don't know who the Madam Bai you refer to is, but even if I can't cure you, letting you live another ten or eight years is no problem." Ao Song displayed an arrogant demeanor, slightly displeased by Sangji's refusal.

Many people around spoke up, "Lord, just let Lady Ao Song take a look for you!"

Sangrong, who seldom spoke, also said, "Sangji, it doesn't hurt to check. It's just hard work for Lady Ao Song."

Ao Song showed a sweet smile tinged with shyness, like a young girl finally nearing her beloved, both excited and bashful.

Bai Ruozhu secretly laughed to herself, realizing that Ao Song was quite the actress too.

"Alright, we shall trouble Lady Ao Song," Sangji cupped his hands in a suave manner.

Ao Song stepped forward gracefully, extending her delicate hand to take Sangji's pulse without even using a handkerchief. This made Sangji's expression a bit uneasy.

"The problem with your Heart Meridian is congenital; it's a genetic heart disease, truly hard to cure." Ao Song spoke while feeling his pulse.

Many people showed disappointed looks. Bai Ruozhu watched helplessly, realizing that even the former king possibly didn't enjoy such popularity.

This included Sangji's aptitude for pretense, and also because he was a weakling whom people tended to sympathize with, especially since he wasn't expected to live long.

Ao Song lowered her head slightly, the corners of her mouth lifting, "But my family possesses a precious elixir that can replenish the Heart Meridian, left by my great-grandfather, though it's hard to obtain."

Priest Sangrong was excited upon hearing this, "We plead with Lady Ao Song for assistance. Our Barbarian Tribe is willing to exchange something of equal value."

Ao Song laughed, "There's no need for exchange. I'll ask for it once I return home and give it to Sangji."

She finished speaking with an even more bashful smile, her cheeks turning red.

Sangrong, realizing the intention, stroked his beard and laughed heartily.

"How can we accept this?" Sangji said, somewhat embarrassed.

A sharp gleam flashed in Ao Song's eyes as she sent a subtle energy into Sangji's wrist.

Bai Ruozhu, watching from nearby, saw it clearly. Seeing that neither Sangji nor Sangrong noticed, she silently exhaled in relief.

But in the next moment, Sangji's face changed drastically, his body trembling as he retreated, "What did you do to me?"

Sangrong was shocked, suddenly pointing the Priest's Staff at Ao Song. Ao Song's expression also changed; she had been exceedingly cautious, so how was Sangji able to sense it?

"Quick, seize her! She used a Demonic Method on me!" Sangji shouted as he suddenly spat out blood.

This threw the scene into chaos, as Sangji's guards charged at Ao Song, while Ao Song's maidservants hurried to protect her on either side.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged a glance and rushed forward too.

"How dare you, Demon Woman, who exactly are you?" chanted Sangrong, unleashing a binding spell aimed at Ao Song.

Ao Song moved elegantly, as though treading on lotus flowers, her movements gentle and graceful, showing no pressure as she dodged the priest's binding spell easily.

She effortlessly evaded the Barbarian Priest's constraints, and Sangrong's expression changed dramatically, believing he needed to take Ao Song seriously now.

"Fools! What kind of Barbarian Priest are you, can't you see your Regent King exudes evil aura? He raises living corpses and creates half-snake demons. Haven't recent tribe women gone missing?" Ao Song coldly sneered, "Those women's flesh was fed to monsters, and still you take him as king? Are your heads full of water?"

"Nonsense! If Lord Sangji had issues, how could I not detect them?" Sangrong's beard trembled in anger, "Do you mean to say I've been bribed by him to harm people? You foreign Demon Woman aim to sow chaos in our Barbarian Tribe?"

Bai Ruozhu noticed some faces change upon hearing "women missing," indicating some suspicion among the Barbarian Tribe, yet wondered why Sangrong would trust Sangji so implicitly.

Could it be that he truly was Sangji's man?

Just as she pondered while staring at Sangrong, he suddenly glanced at her, revealing a look of disbelief...
