System: Master Your Life

Chapter 81: Library Routine Good Drawing Xu Lin's Sketching Attempt_2

"I'd like to see your writing."

"Sure."

Xu Lin picked up the other person's pen and began writing on a new blank page in the notebook.

The first piece he wrote was "Langtaoshan Beidaihe."

Next was "Nian Nu Jiao·Kunlun."

Actually, with the latter poem, Xu Lin mainly liked the first half.

"It emerged amazingly, the mighty Kunlun, viewing all the worldly spring colors; the jade dragon flying up three million..."

These lines could truly be described as grand and magnificent.

Poetry is something that requires careful appreciation and must be enjoyed quietly without disturbances.

Quickly, Xu Lin finished writing.

"Xu Lin, your handwriting looks better than before!"

Beside him, Shang Wanjun watched Xu Lin write, her gaze revealing amazement.

Xu Lin's writing had become more bold and sharp, possessing considerable momentum. Before, Shang Wanjun had seen Xu Lin's writing, but it wasn't like this; compared to before, Xu Lin's writing now retained only a slight outline of the past.

"Really?"

Speaking of which, Xu Lin suddenly remembered that he had acquired two new skill rewards yesterday.

One for calligraphy, called Flourishing Brush.

One for drawing, called Good Drawing.

With the enhancement of Flourishing Brush, Xu Lin's handwriting underwent a dramatic transformation.

Shang Wanjun: "Have you been practicing calligraphy recently? Such a big improvement!"

"Calligraphy? I've practiced a bit lately. Whether or not I've improved, I haven't paid much attention."

Xu Lin simply brushed it off; some things are hard to explain, and it's better not to say anything, with his cheat-like abilities.

Shang Wanjun: "You've improved greatly. Your handwriting is the best I've seen so far."

"That's a bit exaggerated, I really can't accept that!"

Xu Lin responded modestly.

Shang Wanjun: "Not exaggerating at all!"

As they talked, ten more minutes passed.

It was already past one in the afternoon.

Seeing that it was getting late, Xu Lin said, "Teacher, let's go eat!"

"Okay."

They returned the books and went to have lunch together.

The meal went uneventfully, just a normal meal.

After eating, Xu Lin bid farewell to Shang Wanjun.

In the afternoon, Xu Lin didn't lounge around.

He thought that now he had two new skills, calligraphy aside, which was more frequently used by Xu Lin as he usually wrote characters.

But drawing?

Xu Lin hadn't tried it yet.

Thinking back, Xu Lin remembered the last time he drew was in the third grade of elementary school. It was when he drew a big tree and won third prize in the school's drawing competition.

But elementary school drawings were nothing remarkable.

Now, Xu Lin had acquired cheat-like skills, so he couldn't resist trying it out.

"Let's start with sketching!"

Compared to other forms of drawing, like traditional ink painting or foreign abstract art,

sketching is much simpler.

The tools needed for sketching are simple; just pencils, charcoal pencils, charcoal sticks, erasers, cloth rags, sketch paper, and drawing boards, but more simply, pencils, paper, and erasers.

So, after parting ways with Shang Wanjun, Xu Lin visited an art supplies store and bought a complete set of sketching tools. He also bought a pack of sketch paper and an easel for placing the paper.

Afterward, Xu Lin returned to the duplex apartment.

He preferred not to be disturbed while working.

He set up everything and began exploring in the living room.

"What should I draw?"

"A person?"

"Got it."

Xu Lin opened his album and picked out the best photo of Ning Yuhuan.

Xu Lin stared at the photo for over ten seconds, memorizing every detail so that even the strands of Ning Yuhuan's hair were etched in his strong memory.

Then, Xu Lin began sketching on the paper using pencils and charcoal pencils.

For the first attempt at sketching Ning Yuhuan, Xu Lin copied the photo precisely onto the page, almost like replicating it.

And with the ability of "Good Drawing," Xu Lin's sketching skills were very strong, and his drawing speed was also notably quick.

Therefore, Ning Yuhuan's half-body photo was completed by Xu Lin in under half an hour.

But Xu Lin knew it wasn't enough.

His past experiences with learning guitar, piano, or songwriting and composing taught him that finished products only emerged after plenty of practice.

Sketching is the same; even though he possessed Good Drawing, Xu Lin initially depicted Ning Yuhuan directly on paper without any variation, akin to copying homework.

So, Xu Lin started sketching Ning Yuhuan a second time.

This time, Ning Yuhuan sprung to life on the page.

Compared to the first sketch, Ning Yuhuan's hair exhibited slight changes. In the first sketch, her hair was static, while in the second sketch, it seemed to ripple with small waves, as Xu Lin imbued her with more vitality.

Next came the third sketch.

This time, besides the hair, the eyes underwent changes.

The eyes are the core of a character.

The third sketch mirrored the phrase from the Classic of Poetry.

"Charming eyes gaze kindly."

"Sweet smile and charming eyes, but still short of a sweet smile."

This phrase describes a beauty whose smile is sweet and a bit mischievous, her gaze lively and soul-stirring.

Thus, in his fourth sketch, Xu Lin endowed Ning Yuhuan with more characteristics.

"That's quite good!"

As Xu Lin looked at his fourth sketch, he was satisfied; the real-life Ning Yuhuan seemed to be captured on the paper.

So Xu Lin snapped a photo and sent it to Ning Yuhuan.

Along with a message: "Trying out sketching, what do you think?"
