The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 42: The Beautiful Forensic Doctor

In Villa No. 8, Song Keren opened her contacts and found a name called "Shi Jiaxin," then dialed out.

Shi Jiaxin was her classmate from the police academy, just like her, she was a famous belle of the school. But there were significantly fewer people pursuing Shi Jiaxin compared to Song Keren.

It wasn't because of her looks, but because Shi Jiaxin majored in forensic medicine.

Some of her usual behaviors were difficult for outsiders to understand, and her carefree personality easily confused those unfamiliar with her outer appearance.

Song Keren once joked with Shi Jiaxin, "I seriously suspect, if you were to perform surgery on someone, you'd leave the scalpel in the patient's stomach."

Shi Jiaxin replied seriously, "That's why I became a forensic doctor. Even if I did leave a scalpel, it would be in a dead person, not a live one."

But jokes aside, no one could question Shi Jiaxin's professional skills.

Having grown up in a family of medical practitioners, her insight and experience far exceeded that of her peers.

If not for her slight personality quirks and lack of essential rigor, her family might never have allowed her to enter the forensic field.

The call quickly went through, and a surprised voice came through the receiver, "Keren, calling so late, are you heartbroken? Heartbroken? Or heartbroken?"

"Why are you gloating?" Song Keren lamented her poor choice in friends, then, in a huff, said, "I'm in trouble here. Are you in Jiangcheng now?"

"What kind of trouble? I'm in Jiangcheng right now," Shi Jiaxin replied quickly.

Knowing Song Keren's strong character, Shi Jiaxin was well aware that unless faced with a particularly tricky problem, the other would rarely seek her help.

Sure enough, Song Keren said, "I've been shot..."

Shi Jiaxin immediately panicked, "Where is the gunshot wound? Is the bullet removed?"

"The injury is on my right arm, and the bullet has been removed now. I'm home. Just bring some basic medication," Song Keren replied.

Shi Jiaxin took a deep breath, "Alright, I'll head over right away."

About half an hour later, a BMW pulled up in front of the No. 8 courtyard gate.

A woman with a ponytail and bangs reaching her eyebrows got out, her face as delicate as a carved jade, giving off a pure girl-next-door vibe.

After getting out of the car, the woman first threw her backpack into the yard, then took a few steps back, got a running start, and with one hand grabbed the top of the wall, easily flipping into the No. 8 courtyard, sprinting straight to the second floor of the villa.

"Sister Xin, you finally came," Song Keren said, her face pale, forcing out a smile.

However, Shi Jiaxin didn't respond verbally. She grabbed Song Keren's injured arm and began unraveling the bandages wrapped around the gunshot wound.

"Be gentle!" Song Keren grimaced in pain, regretting calling her over; she seemed more intent on killing her than saving her.

"I'm a forensic professional, the dead don't feel pain," Shi Jiaxin replied with a smile, but her hands noticeably softened.

As the bandage was undone, Shi Jiaxin furrowed her brow tightly at the sight of the wound, "Huh?!"

"What is it?" Song Keren asked with some nervousness.

"Did you remove the bullet yourself?" Shi Jiaxin looked at Song Keren as if discovering a new continent, her tone noticeably more excited.

Song Keren shook her head, "No, it was a... a friend who helped take it out."

"Where is that friend of yours?" Shi Jiaxin asked urgently, "Where are they now?"

Without waiting for Song Keren to answer, she mumbled to herself, "Such precise blade work, not a fraction too much or too little, truly a fantastic skill! I've never seen anyone so remarkable!"

"Is it really that exaggerated?" Song Keren was dumbfounded, speechless at Shi Jiaxin's praise for Xiao Feng.

After a long pause, Shi Jiaxin seemed to calm down.

After bandaging Song Keren, she said earnestly, "If what you say is true, then that friend of yours is definitely a master of using blades! Removing a bullet without anesthesia, and you didn't even faint from the pain—this tests both surgical skill and psychological resilience to the extreme!"

Song Keren frowned, "Can't you do the same thing?"

But she couldn't help but think, Shi Jiaxin isn't one to easily praise others, yet she's showering Xiao Feng with admiration without even seeing him. Is Xiao Feng really that impressive?

While pondering this, she saw Shi Jiaxin shake her head, "I thought about it carefully, and being able to perform such a clean and precise cut might be because that friend of yours has removed bullets from himself before, and more than once."

After speaking, Shi Jiaxin's eyes lit up with enthusiasm, "Contact that friend who removed the bullet for you, I want to meet him now!"

God knows how eager Shi Jiaxin was to improve her blade skills, and having finally encountered an expert, she couldn't pass up the opportunity.

However, Song Keren immediately felt a bit troubled. It wasn't that she didn't know Xiao Feng's phone number, but she wasn't sure how to face Xiao Feng.

Being a girl, Song Keren was inclined to sensitive thoughts. In her view, Xiao Feng's words before leaving may have been a form of indirect confession.

The crux of the problem, however, was that Song Keren couldn't determine if she really liked Xiao Feng.

Song Keren has always been someone who values results; if there isn't a good ending, she'd rather not start.

"He... after helping me extract the bullet, he went to the airport to catch a flight. By now, he's probably already left Jiangcheng," Song Keren made up a random excuse to avoid the topic.

Unexpectedly, Shi Jiaxin continued to ask, "When is he coming back?"

Song Keren replied, "Not really sure, but he'll probably return by the time you've reported to the province."

After some consideration, Shi Jiaxin suddenly said, "I'm not going to the province. I'll file a report now and stay with you in Jiangcheng to wait for him."

"Are you serious?" Song Keren was startled, not expecting Shi Jiaxin to give up the opportunity to go to the province and choose to stay in a small place like Jiangcheng.

"My purpose in going to the province was to seek advice from someone with higher blade skills. Now that I've encountered such a master in Jiangcheng, going to the province isn't necessary," Shi Jiaxin laughed.

Song Keren opened her mouth, at a loss for words. This constant talk of a "master"—if she really knew what Xiao Feng was like...

For a moment, Song Keren couldn't help but worry about Shi Jiaxin.

Seeing Shi Jiaxin really starting to write a report, Song Keren sighed. Despite gaining such a powerful ally, why couldn't she feel happy?

Just thinking of tonight's assassination, Song Keren's eyes flashed with a sharp resolve; this account would be settled one day, and it wouldn't be long!
