The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 150: Leaving the Ranch

Before long, everyone noticed that the foul stench in the air grew stronger and stronger. As a popular saying goes, the smell was so bad it was blinding.

Someone couldn't help but want to step forward and check it out, but John Fos stopped them. In his eyes, these people were his Protective Talismans; losing one meant one less card to play, so he'd rather not use them.

"Don't you all think this smells a lot like crap?" someone said while pinching their nose.

Just then, the package was thrown open by the fire, revealing the black stuff inside. Now everyone could see clearly: what Xiao Feng had dropped wasn't a bomb. It was actually cow dung.

"What the hell!" someone couldn't help but curse on the spot, "This bastard is disgusting enough to kill someone!"

But complaints aside, there's no real way to defend against this move. You have to know that on a ranch, the last thing you'll ever run short of is this stuff. You can't exactly mobilize everyone to clean up cow dung, can you?

Moreover, there are cattle and sheep everywhere here. Even if you killed all the cattle and sheep nearby, you couldn't stop Xiao Feng from finding more elsewhere.

After putting out the fire, John Fos said with a grim face, "Rest here, no one is to disperse. Tomorrow morning, check with Big Sis, and if possible, return as soon as we can."

Late at night, John Fos and the others sat in a circle around a campfire to keep warm. The firelight lit up their faces, each one looking constipated, which made them look terrible.

"Stay alert, everyone," said John Fos as he stood up. "Hasn't Aik come back yet?"

Someone laughed and replied, "Instructor Sir, you know as well as I do that that kid won't come back until he's squatted for half an hour. It's only been ten minutes, it's still early!"

"And when he left, he wasn't carrying any weapons, was he?" John Fos continued to ask.

A bald man, sitting diagonally across, replied, "No, everything is stored with me."

John Fos felt a bit relieved but overlooked one thing. In the Devil's Concentration Camp, not carrying a weapon is entirely different from not carrying a weapon in other organizations.

The members of the Devil's Concentration Camp usually carry a hand grenade on them, to take the enemy down with them in critical moments, and they took pride in this, as it showed their loyalty to Big Sis…

At this moment, someone said, "What if I go over and check it out? If Aik gets ambushed by Yan Huang, we should be prepared."

John Fos nodded and was about to say something when, from the corner of his eye, he saw that familiar figure appear on the rooftop again.

"Missing me already?" Xiao Feng sneered, and then tossed something while saying, "This one's fresh, give it a try."

The bald man by the campfire immediately raised his gun and shot at the package.

"Don't!" John Fos roared, trying to stop the bald man from pulling the trigger.

But he was too late, the bullet that had been fired couldn't change course, and certainly couldn't be taken back.

"Boom!"

A deafening explosion erupted, and in that instant, flames soared into the sky, lighting up the whole area much more brightly than the campfire.

But that was not the main issue; the real problem was that after the explosion, the black stuff rained down like a shower, covering John Fos and the rest.

Especially John Fos, who had just been shouting with his mouth open, so he accidentally got a taste…

"Damn it!"

"What the hell is this stuff?"

"Are you an idiot? Isn't this cow dung?"

All of a sudden, everyone realized that Aik's grenade had been taken by Xiao Feng, causing the package to explode when it was hit.

But what good is it to think of that now?

John Fos and the others watched as cow dung kept falling from above. They dodged and weaved, but no matter how much they dodged, they couldn't escape the baptism of cow dung.

"Next time someone brags to you, you can ask them if they've ever been rained on by cow dung," Xiao Feng said calmly, "Of course, that's assuming you survive the night."

Everyone suddenly turned, they had been so busy dodging dung that no one noticed Xiao Feng was right next to the campfire!

And as they turned, Xiao Feng's gun spat fire, and one after another fell in panic. The sound of gunfire mixed with screams startled the surrounding cattle and sheep, promising an unsettling night.

When the bullets in the magazine were spent, more than half of the thirty or so people were gone. Xiao Feng tossed the gun and ran, knowing that last time he got lucky and escaped when they were stunned, but he didn't think anyone could always be lucky.

"Kill him!" John Fos, who had actually taken a mouthful of cow dung, fired in the direction Xiao Feng ran. His eyes were red with rage, his anger blinding his reason, and he no longer cared about Su Yuzhuo's orders.

And the others, covered in cow dung, also shouted as they opened fire. It didn't really matter if they hit anything—the main thing was they needed an outlet for their smoldering anger.

After a while, the gunfire gradually stopped, everyone was panting heavily, overcome by a sense of powerlessness. Facing an opponent like Xiao Feng was truly a nightmare!

Everyone hoped this nightmare would end soon, but reality doesn't change to suit personal desires—they still had to deal with Xiao Feng's elusive threats.

"Do you want to die?" John Fos asked coldly, exhaling directly at the bald man opposite, who couldn't help but retreat a few steps, thinking the smell was familiar.

The bald man suspected that John Fos had indeed swallowed some cow dung, but now was clearly not the time to discuss this, so he just nodded with the others, "Of course not!"

"Good!" John Fos waved his arm. "We'll request to return to the camp right now, and if Big Sis doesn't agree, I hope you all will stand with me."

Everyone was startled, realizing this sounded like he wanted to break away and go solo?

"Instructor, if we do this, Big Sis won't let us go, then..." someone couldn't help but voice their doubts.

But before he could finish, John Fos answered with a bullet.

After a "bang," smoke curled up from the gun muzzle, and blood gushed from the questioner's forehead as he fell stiffly to the ground.

Suddenly, the ranch fell silent. Everyone stared in dazed shock at John Fos, killing one of their own—this was taboo in the Devil's Concentration Camp, signifying he wasn't planning on any escape route for himself.

"See that?" John Fos pointed at the corpse on the ground. "If we stay, everyone might die tonight. If we escape, there might be a chance at survival, and at least a bit more time to live."

A dozen people exchanged glances, then looked at the one lying dead on the ground, feeling an overwhelming sense of despair. John Fos was sealing his fate, and pulling everyone else's along with him.

It was clear that John Fos was pretending to ask for input, but his words left no room for alternative options for the others.

After a moment, the bald man gritted his teeth, "Damn it! We're going to die anyway, might as well escape and live a little. I'm in!"

With someone taking the lead, the others, regardless of their personal thoughts, each raised a hand in agreement—none of them wanted to be the next victim.

If Su Yuzhuo witnessed this scene, she would surely have a lot to ponder. Xiao Feng seemed like her nemesis—a figure who could turn blind loyalists into traitors upon sight.

You can't deny it's quite a miraculous twist!

"Check your gear. Set out with me immediately!" John Fos demanded unyieldingly.

But just as he finished speaking, he couldn't stop himself from bending over and vomiting.

Everyone was dumbstruck. What the hell was this supposed to mean?

John Fos' powerful words still echoed in their ears, yet he was suddenly retching uncontrollably, catching everyone off guard with the abrupt twist.

The bald man watched John Fos' pitiful state with thoughtful suspicion, now fairly certain his guessing was right—John Fos really had swallowed a mouthful of that…

Half an hour later, a group of people, covered in cow dung, left the ranch, walking across the open fields. This lack of shelter, surprisingly, made everyone feel at ease—at least they didn't have to worry about Xiao Feng appearing out of nowhere here.
