I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 222: Quest Office

Without the influence of the Deer Anabolism, Siderius returned to his usual training regime. The five days training that focused on every aspect of the body.

That day focused on Stamina.

Siderius stood on the open courtyard to train. He was working on the Earth Path, a well-reserved Framework that allowed for the body to accumulate energy over time.

Elemental Path was a fusion between the Harmony Framework of the monks and the alchemical process of the alchemists. Its movement aimed to regulate one's energy to naturally lead it to where the practitioner wanted. But also, it used the power of the soul to evoke alchemical reactions in the body to further enhance the Harmony Framework.

The Elemental Path could be called the greatest cooperative creation between the Light-Bearers and Truth-Seekers.

However, compared to mutation or Aether conversion, its impact was not instant. It needed time and an accumulation to actually take effect.

Earth Path allowed additional energy to be stored by condensing stamina into a higher, denser, and purer form.

Unfortunately, Elemental Path had much less research than other forms or power. Both Aether conversion and mutation had thousands of years of evolution and refinement. While Elemental Path had only a few decades.

The Light-Bearers and Truth-Seekers back in Siderius' world had only found harmony between them not so long ago. Before, they weren't at war with each other, but they didn't see eye to eye with each other either.

Earth Path had quick, snapping movement with rooted stances. A practitioner of an Earth Path barely worked on their footwork as they usually stood in one place. The center of gravity was lowered, very similar to the Horse Stance of the Endurance Framework.

It was also why Siderius picked Earth Path as it went very well with the Horse Stance.

From the point of view of an outsider, Siderius looked like he was practicing a kind of martial art. A very beautiful martial art.

Ashe stood nearby with a towel in her hand. When Siderius finished, she went up and gave him the towel.

"To wipe your sweat, Master!"

"Thank you, Ashe." Siderius nodded.

"So this is the Elemental Path..." Ashe said.

"That is correct. It is the Earth Path. Earth Path will allow you to have more stamina overall and become more resilient in a dire moment.

Air Path allows you to be much faster. A more speed-focus stamina.

Water Path focused on stamina regeneration.

And Fire Path develops burst, explosive stamina. You will be unstoppable for a short amount of time but will be completely wrecked after."

Ashe nodded. "Earth and Water is a very safe option. While Air and Fire are more specialized. Which one do you think I should focus on, Master?"

"It is entirely your choice. But if you want a recommendation.

Air Path and Earth Path are very solid. You are smaller, lighter than a man. Air Path can enhance your advantage greatly. Earth Path goes the opposite way, covering your weakness as you have less stamina."

"Why did you choose Earth Path, Master?"

"Because it provides the most direct impact to Stamina. Speed, burst, or stamina regeneration aren't that useful... in the long run. Elemental Path can help develop your body but it is in no way as effective as mutation.

I may need to train Earth Path for months, even years, to see significant improvement. All of that can be achieved by a simple mutation.

The Elemental Path is important. It is one of our main subjects in early training. But it is not the main way that we gain power. Its impact is very minor."

Ashe nodded along Siderius' words. In the end, she said, "So Earth Path provides the most impact to Stamina. That is why you chose it. Others provide more additional benefits but aren't as impactful.

I think I will choose the Earth Path as well, Master."

Siderius nodded. "Wise choice. But I want you to understand something. What I think is not the absolute truth. Some witch hunters had found much success by practicing other Elemental Paths.

A former acquaintance of mine practiced Air Path. Her mutations also focused on speed. She used a thin rapier as her weapon. As you can imagine, the extra edge provided by the Air Path's speed was very impactful.

But that was because it went well with her entire kit. When choosing your training, mutations, weapons, armor, or anything at all, you must think how well it would suit you. Not what is the best."

"I understand, Master." Ashe nodded. "I will consider carefully about the Elemental Path before making a decision."

Siderius nodded. Along with Elemental Path, Stance and Hand Framework also needed to be considered. Siderius planned to slowly teach Ashe her chosen Frameworks.

Kraus appeared in the courtyard and quickly approached Siderius. He bowed down.

"A hunter has caught an animal you wish to seek, my lord!"

"Oh? Which one?"

"They got a lynx, my lord!"

Siderius' eyes lit up.

Lynx, one of the fastest animals that you could find in Taiga, or in other words, boreal forest. The Rottin Woods of Eldoria was a taiga biome.

Now that Siderius had all of these people under him, it was foolish to not ask them for help.

According to Siderius' suggestion, a quest office was created to manage tasks and provide exclusive missions amongst the residents.

Tasks were jobs that Siderius had set up previously with the help of George and Roland. Everyone could register for a task if they met the skill requirement. Task provided weekly or monthly salary. It was no different than a usual job.

Missions were different. Missions were one-time tasks and could have anything as reward. Everyone could announce a mission, as long as they paid a fee to the quest office. Everyone could take these missions as well, but only the first that completed it would receive the reward. Otherwise, it would be decided by the quest giver.

Siderius had designed this quest office after the Hunter Association in his old world. The quest office had exactly the same principles as the Hunter Association. Freedom of choice, an equivalent exchange, and public information.

Siderius had announced a mission to help him catch a few of the quickest animals that were usually presented in the Taiga biome for his Agility Anabolism.

It was three days ago and now, a hunter had acquired a lynx for his next development tonic.
