Within a lavish bathroom, a boy stood butt naked.
His obsidian black hair clung to his forehead due to the cold water pouring from the shower.
His pale skin was riddled with many small scars, the result of his battles. The potion healed most of them, but not without a small trace.
His crimson eyes were currently deep in thoughts.
Who was the spectator?
That was the most glaring question he had.
He didn't know who it was, but from what Failed Possibility had said, it was keeping an eye on him.
How did I not notice?
Are they one of 'Them' my mother mentioned?
If so… what did they want?
He understood their strength was something he couldn't comprehend at his current strength. But that made his question even more as to why they hadn't killed him yet.
Then, there was his possibility, someone who sliced through the spectator's vision without breaking a sweat…
…and yet, according to the system, he was a failed possibility.
And finally there was that creepy temple where everything converged.
Just thinking about everything he had learned in this trial was enough to blow his mind.
But then, the last words of Possibility echoed in his mind. "When the time is right… the answers will come."
"Will there ever be any perfect time?"
He muttered quietly, but the silence provided no answers.
With a final sigh, Alden turned off the shower and walked.
It seems I'll just have to fake it till I make it.
—
After drying his body, Alden got dressed in a casual black shirt paired with dark slacks. He stood before the mirror for a brief moment, eyes scanning his reflection.
His face was the same—sharp, chiseled features, hair still slightly damp and clinging to his temples.
But his eyes…
The usual crimson eyes had shifted ever so slightly.
At the very edge of each pupil, a faint golden ring had appeared—thin as thread, but unmistakable.
He leaned closer. It wasn't a trick of the light.
What the hell… is this?
Is this because of my bloodline? Or because of the attack, my failed possibility left me with?
He knew his bloodline-unlocked state had golden pupils. But so was the sun-like attack his failed possibility had left him with.
Who cares?
With a shrug, he walked towards his bed. He could see Kyun perched on a table beside his bed. Completely still.
She was sleeping.
Again he felt a twinge of sadness, she hadn't been sleeping properly ever since he vanished, so now that he was here, her fatigue caught up.
He didn't disturb her and sat on his bed quietly.
There was still some time before he had to go to the lobby.
So, he decided to check his status window.
He was curious about the changes.
"Status."
He muttered quietly as the familiar blue screen appeared before him.

Damn, my stats increased.
The first thing he noticed was his increased stats.
Both of his mental stats had gone up, while his physical stats remained stuck at the same place.
But then again, it had merely been a few days for him since he broke through to Advanced Adept Rank, and he was already close to Expert Rank now.
Then, his eyes fell on a new title he had unlocked. He couldn't even see the name, let alone understand what the hell that was.
He tried to focus on it, thinking further information would appear, but even that didn't work.
So, he moved on.
There was a new addition to his Mana Tome tab as well, but he knew what it was. And more importantly, it was sealed as well.
Nothing else had really changed. But Alden felt it in his bones; he was very close to a breakthrough.
Even if his physical stats hadn't really increased, the trial had pushed them on the brink of the next level.
With a few days of training, he was sure he could break through to Expert Rank with ease.
After checking his status one last time.
He opened his [Supreme Ability].

The new window showcasing his supreme ability appeared before him.
He didn't bother checking his other sub-skills, as most of them hadn't changed even in the slightest. And focused on the new addition.
The previous sub-skill [Limit Break] entry was now dimmed, its text greyed out.
And in its place was something Alden hadn't seen before.
Inheritance of Asura?
His brows furrowed.
That had to be it. The final attack… the thing his Failed Possibility left him with.
Alden didn't feel [Limit Break] anymore. It was one of the most useful skills he had.
Something that had helped him survive countless times, and yet it was gone just like that.
Still, he didn't regret it.
As long as he could survive the destruction, he was ready to pay the price.
With that thought, he focused on the newly added entry—Inheritance of Asura—as a new system window showing details appeared before him.
