After explaining everything about collaborating with Pang Yu to Wu Yong, Lin Tian hung up the phone.

Now it's not just Xianglong Tea House and the Bai Family, even my own security company has been taken down by Du Dahai's people.

This left Lin Tian speechless; are they trying to take down me and the Bai Family altogether?

Putting down the phone, Lin Tian walked to the window, looking down at the street below and this steel jungle of Kanyue City.

By now, the sky had already turned dark, with no moon or stars, just pure blackness, giving off the vibe of a dark and stormy night.

Lin Tian thought that after Bai Shishi came back, he must install a tracking system on her. How many times has she been kidnapped already? It's really worrisome. I wonder how she's doing right now?

"Lin Tian, you must be hungry after rushing over, come eat something first."

Ruyan's voice rang out. It was no longer as cold as it used to be, carrying a hint of warmth and a touch of exhaustion.

Lin Tian didn't respond, but still went over and sat across from Ruyan.

On the table was the freshly delivered takeout, four dishes and a soup, the two of them facing each other with bowls of rice, neither having much of an appetite.

After finishing dinner, Lin Tian cleared away the leftovers on the table, and once again, silence fell between them. Lin Tian wanted to find some topics, but at this moment, anything seemed inappropriate, so he stayed silent too.

With Ruyan's cold personality, if Lin Tian didn't speak, she definitely wouldn't start the conversation.

Suddenly, Ruyan shifted her body, bringing a light fragrance as she sat beside Lin Tian, resting her head on his shoulder.

Lin Tian's heart skipped a beat, and his body trembled slightly.

"Don't move, I just feel tired and want to lean for a bit."

Lin Tian chuckled and said, "Mei, you're the one leaning against me, not me taking advantage, don't retaliate against me later."

"You haven't taken advantage of me enough?" Ruyan questioned from his shoulder, "Last time I asked you to drink with me, you insisted I call you hubby, and when I was drunk, you groped around. You think I forgot just because I blacked out?"

"So you didn't forget, I remember it was you who seduced me that day."

Lin Tian laughed, unashamed with his thick-skinned nature, always ready to take advantage of favorable situations.

Ruyan didn't continue on the flirtatious topic and instead asked, "Are you staying for good this time?"

Lin Tian fell into a brief silence, then sighed, "Honestly, I don't want to leave, I feel happy being with you guys. I'm just afraid Miss Bai will be upset."

"She won't be upset if you're here. When you're not, she's like a lost soul. I think you're just being silly; explain a few more times and coax her a few times, won't that be enough? Shishi definitely doesn't want you to leave either."

All Lin Tian could do was smile bitterly; Ruyan was oversimplifying things.

Seeing Lin Tian not responding, Ruyan added, "I've felt so exhausted lately, more than ever. There's been no one to talk to, let me tell you something interesting..."

Lin Tian felt that Ruyan had changed; after two months apart, she talked more and was not as cold as before, and she would even smile, even if it was a bitter one.

Lin Tian listened quietly as she shared what had happened while he was away, there were hardly any happy events.

Ruyan was just releasing stress, venting all the frustration pent up inside her during this time.

She used to only share these things with Bai Shishi, but now she could only share them with Lin Tian.

"What do you think our relationship is now?" Ruyan suddenly asked.

Lin Tian thought for a moment, then asked, "Husband and wife?"

"No, we're best friends."

Lin Tian rolled his eyes and didn't respond.

Sometime later, Ruyan fell asleep leaning on Lin Tian's shoulder, even in her sleep her brows were furrowed.

All Lin Tian could do was transfer some Spiritual Qi to her, alleviating her fatigue and negative emotions.

Soon, the furrows in Ruyan's brows relaxed, and she smiled faintly, likely having a nice dream.

The next morning, the sun had already shined through the floor-to-ceiling window, making the whole room particularly bright.

"Mei, Mei, let go! I need to pee!" Lin Tian tapped Ruyan's shoulder to wake her up.

"Let go of what?" Ruyan looked at her hand in confusion, then sprang up from the sofa like a spring.

"Pah, pervert."

Ruyan spat a swear, then turned away without blushing or panting, saying, "If you act up again, I'll cut it off next time."

After speaking, Ruyan walked out of the office without looking back.

"Damn! Are you being reasonable, who was the one acting up!"

Lin Tian shouted at Ruyan's back, then replayed the softness from before in his mind.

After venting his frustration, Lin Tian followed behind Ruyan out. He also checked the time on his phone; it was already half-past seven.

He also checked if there were any messages or emails. After flipping through and finding none, Lin Tian was both disappointed and somewhat relieved; the situation hadn't improved, nor had it worsened.

Ruyan led Lin Tian to the room next to the office. Upon entering, he found it was a girl's room.

Obviously, this was Ruyan's room. Except for the white walls, the bedsheets, blankets, desks, and chairs were all black. Looking at this color every day would make anyone feel depressed.

"Why are you following me in?"

Ruyan resumed her cold demeanor, even her tone was devoid of warmth.

"I think your room needs a makeover," Lin Tian said earnestly.

"How should it be changed?"

"Change the bedsheets and desk to pink, then place a few cute dolls around."

"Boring."

With that, Ruyan went into the bathroom and closed the door, followed by the sound of water inside.

A good while later, Ruyan came out, wearing a different outfit.

With her hair tied up, a white embroidered shirt, a black tight skirt, flesh-colored stockings, and five-centimeter high heels.

Lin Tian was a little dumbfounded. Seeing Ruyan in this outfit made his mouth dry, and his mind only had four words: uniform temptation.

Although her outfit had changed, Ruyan's demeanor remained icy, "If you keep staring, I'll gouge your eyes out."

Lin Tian chuckled and asked, "How did you come out with a different outfit when you went in empty-handed?"

"So why did you dress like this?"

Ruyan looked down at her outfit and asked, "What's wrong with me wearing this?"

"It's just a bit out of character."

"The police are coming to inspect the gambling den today. With Shishi not around, I have to entertain them. You think I want to wear this professional suit?" Ruyan explained.

Hearing the police would come, Lin Tian also put away his playful mind but couldn't stop glancing at Ruyan, sighing inwardly, what a stunner.
