The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 269: One Must Keep Their Word

"How about it? Yes or no?" Seeing Wu Yong remain silent, Xiaogang couldn't figure out what he was thinking!

"Absolutely not!"

Wu Yong shrugged helplessly: "I don't need ten thousand bucks. Instead of you giving me ten thousand, I'd rather hand the recorder over to that stinky Daoist and watch you two fight to the death for the thrill!"

"Tian, who do you think is more powerful, the stinky Daoist or him?" Wu Yong asked.

"Definitely the stinky Daoist!"

Lin Tian didn't forget to give Xiaogang a friendly reminder: "For the sake of us being colleagues before, you better be mentally prepared. That stinky Daoist knows magic, and you might even lose your life over this!"

Xiaogang was already wary of Li, having witnessed his abilities firsthand. Lin Tian's words only added fuel to the fire, making him even more afraid of Li.

"Calm down, little brother, we still have room to negotiate!"

Xiaogang extended one finger again: "How about a hundred thousand?"

A hundred thousand bucks for a recorder, Xiaogang thought any ordinary person would nod without hesitation.

But is Wu Yong an ordinary person?

The answer is no, this guy is not human at all!

"Too little!" Wu Yong shook his head, showing a posture of not bending for five bushels of rice.

"Still too little?" Xiaogang took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his forehead: "How about you name your price, little brother?"

Xiaogang couldn't figure out what Wu Yong wanted, so he decided to tentatively probe.

"This amount!" Wu Yong mimicked him and held up one finger.

"A million?" Xiaogang exclaimed, surely if it wasn't ten thousand, then it must be a million!

"Exactly!!!"

"This is robbery!" Xiaogang was so furious that the veins on his forehead bulged: "I could go to the police station and sue you!"

"Sue me?"

Wu Yong chuckled coldly: "This is a voluntary transaction, ever heard of Zhou Yu hitting Huang Gai, one willing to hit, the other willing to endure?"

"I didn't force you to buy the recorder, it's you who insisted on buying it. Understand clearly who needs whom, who is the supplier and who is the demander, okay?" Wu Yong's words left Xiaogang speechless.

It indeed is a voluntary transaction, who told him that was a handle?

"A million, huh..." Xiaogang still thought a million was too expensive.

"Tian, let's go find that stinky Daoist!" Wu Yong tugged Lin Tian's shoulder and was about to walk out the door.

Although Lin Tian hadn't said much, he had been listening to their conversation the whole time, and Wu Yong's final act was flawless.

"Don't, don't!" Xiaogang stood up to stop Wu Yong, feeling a bit pained, but for the sake of his life, he reluctantly nodded: "Fine, a million is a million!"

"Hand over the money!" Wu Yong reached out demanding.

"You better keep your word!" Xiaogang said while taking out a bank card from his wallet: "Password 654321!"

"Tian, you hold the recorder, I'll go verify the amount!" Wu Yong, wanting to ensure the money was correct, planned to check it at an ATM.

Lin Tian held the pen in his hand, wondering how Wu Yong managed to extort a million from Xiaogang, and what about the recorder later?

Lin Tian and Xiaogang finished a cigarette, and Wu Yong returned, panting heavily.

"Tian, the money's right!" Wu Yong held the bank card, looking incredibly excited. In just one day, two million in hand, this was practically a rags-to-riches miracle!

"Can I have the recorder now?" Xiaogang suddenly asked.

"What's the rush?" Lin Tian held the recorder as if it were a hot potato.

"Give it to him, he did pay us. We have to be honest people," Wu Yong gestured for Lin Tian to hand the pen to Xiaogang.

Xiaogang took the recorder from Lin Tian's hand and finally dared to breathe a sigh of relief, his heart finally settling.

Wu Yong said to Lin Tian: "We gave him the pen, can we leave now?"

Lin Tian was utterly confused, wasn't I here to talk with Xiaogang?

How did it turn into extorting money?

"What's wrong with this pen?" Xiaogang fiddled with the recorder for a while but found no sound coming from it.

"What's up?"

"Why isn't it making any sound?" No matter how Xiaogang rubbed or prodded, there was no response.

"Let me see!" Wu Yong took the pen to examine it.

"Oh, damn!"

After studying the pen for a moment, Wu Yong blurted out a curse.

Lin Tian held back his laughter, eager to see how the guy would act.

Xiaogang looked puzzled: "What's wrong?"

"I took the wrong pen, this isn't a recorder, it's just an ordinary pen!" Wu Yong said apologetically.

"What?" Xiaogang's face darkened!

"Since it's not a recorder, can I get my money back?" Xiaogang asked in a negotiating tone.

"Stop joking, have you ever seen a dog give back meat once it's eaten it?" Wu Yong laughed coldly.

This analogy left Lin Tian speechless, as Wu Yong's words were quite foolish!

But Lin Tian couldn't say anything, as this whole matter was orchestrated by Wu Yong.

"You're committing fraud, I really could go to the police!" Xiaogang realized he was being played, the strong feeling of being cheated made him ready to face off with Wu Yong.

"Go ahead!"

Wu Yong shrugged indifferently: "You should be glad I took the wrong pen, if I had taken an actual recorder and recorded it, I might've extorted twice the money from you!"

"So you're not planning to return it!" Xiaogang looked deadly serious, believing some dignity must be preserved, ready to call his people in.

Even though he wasn't a match for Lin Tian, the odds would be better with more people.

"Not giving it back!" Wu Yong was equally resolute.

"Alright!"

Seeing Xiaogang's anger reach its peak, Lin Tian stepped in to defuse the situation.

Otherwise, if they really fell out, it wouldn't be good for anyone.

Especially Wu Yong, being ignorant and fearless, having mocked Xiaogang this long was enough.

Otherwise, who knows if Xiaogang would hold a grudge against Wu Yong and cause him trouble later.

"Actually, I came over to settle accounts with you; consider this million as my compensation for mental anguish, medical expenses, and lost wages..." Lin Tian asked solemnly.

"Isn't that a bit too much?" Xiaogang felt pained by giving away a million, not willing even when he handed the money over.

Plus, isn't claiming mental anguish, medical expenses, and lost wages a bit far-fetched?

Where are your injuries? Your spirit seems fine, and as for lost wages... making a million in one morning, what job could earn so much in so little time?

"Too much? I was planning on beating you up!"

Lin Tian sneered: "Taking a million from you was a bargain!"

Xiaogang stopped arguing, he wasn't new to Lin Tian's skills; every time he witnessed them, he was left slack-jawed, if one had to describe it, it would be 'unfathomable.'

And to put it bluntly, if Lin Tian wanted to kill him, he could do it right here, right now.

On one hand, it was about his life, on the other, a million...
