"Daughter this, daughter that; SHE'S NOT MINE! I NEED TO LIVE!"
Her screech echoed beyond the railings and into the valley beneath us for miles.
Imperturbed, I simply sighed and pointed at the bag she had thrown to her side.
"Is this your choice?"
In reality, this younger Anna knew everything: the reason her real self had died was all in that diary.
Not by any illness, but by the very hand she had spent her life serving.
Lunging toward me, her wings flapping and boosting her off the ground, she yelled out.
"SHE AND I SPENT OUR LIVES SAVING THIS BODY. IT'S OURS!"
To ensure Anna continued completing missions, even after becoming a hero, the demons cursed Carissa.
Specifically, the exact demon who had raised Anna after the death of her two parents had abused her trust to do so.
Anna killed dozens, leaked billions of dollars of information, and sacrificed the human realm just to save her daughter.
No one knew, not even her husband.
And, in the very end, Anna lost her life with a smile, destroying the soul link placed on her daughter.
However, this had been a mature and lovestruck Anna's decision, not the youthful and energetic one standing before me.
Leaping to the side, I watched as the railing behind me tore apart, there being now nothing to separate my body from the over a hundred-mile drop below.
I felt sorrowful, not for the Anna before me, but the one I had written—the one who had sacrificed their life.
Looking past Anna, I could see four shadowy figures rushing through the door and onto the patio.
"CARIS- NO, MOTHER ANNA STOP!"
"WE CAN'T HURT HER!"
"GO!"
"SECLUDE THE AREA!"
Slowly, I withdrew my sword and gazed at the motionless Anna, who was now surrounded in a circle by the Leo, Magnus, Haerin, and Serena.
Two wings, covered in a demonic crimson-red hue, poked out of her shoulder blades, stretching from her ankles up to her neck and contrasting greatly with her pure white hair.
Before anyone could move, Anna's two wings flapped, and in an instant, she appeared by the bookbag and grasped it tightly.
Smiling, I simply backed away, toward the edge of the patio.
No deaths would be caused in this incident, so there was no need for me to take preemptive action, as I had with Zyn.
Serena had probably already explained the situation, and Leo, with his power, should eventually figure out that he has the power to destroy the diary.
From the background, I watched as Magnus charged forward; however, Anna suddenly raised her hand, dozens of red spears instantly appearing above her head.
Like comets crashing down from the sky, the spears charged downward in all directions as Anna brought her hand downward, but Magnus easily side-stepped and dodged them.
But...even so, his two curved daggers remained still.
He was scared to hurt her.
Additionally, Leo and Haerin simply dodged the spears aimed at them, not moving any closer to Anna.
Only Serena attacked, firing two arrows from her crossbow, each tipped with a purple substance.
Flapping her wings once, Anna released a massive gust of wind, pushing everyone back while rising up into the air.
The brick ground of the patio below her instantly cracked, forming a hole that led straight down into the deadly drop into the valley.
Levitating above the ground, she screamed out.
"LEAVE! I DIDN'T DECIDE TO DIE; I DON'T WANT TO!"
Suddenly, instead of firing off more attacks, Anna rose higher and higher into the air.
Instantly, Leo's face grimaced as he realized she was escaping.
If she left now, then they might never be able to find her or the diary again.
Looking to his right at Magnus and Haerin, Leo yelled out.
"WE HAVE TO STOP HER NOW, OR WE'LL LOSE HER FOREVER!"
Haerin took a deep breath before nodding her head...while Magnus simply remained still, his gaze locked onto the pitch-black sky where Anna's figure was slowly disappearing into.
Leo leaped atop the patio furniture and into the air, his katana barely missing Anna's feet, while Haerin began rapidly throwing everything around her, including her own sword, into the sky.
Serena fired off hundreds of arrows, her previously full quiver halfing in mere minutes, but Anna's body weaved through the air, perfectly dodging them.
Alternatively, I simply remained still at the corner, looking at the ground, hiding my eyes.
Slowly, I raised my head, but at that moment, I was immediatly met with two shaking purple pupils.
Although she didn't say anything, I was pretty sure I could read her trembling lips.
"SHE'S GETTING AWAY. WHY AREN'T YOU DOING ANYTHING!?"
Shrugging my shoulders, I simply turned my head and looked right in front of me, where a familiar figure stood.
Finally making a move, perhaps sensing my and Serena's gaze, Magnus raised his right dagger and drew a cube in the air before him.
As he drew the last line, the drawing sparkled before him...and in the next moment, a bright flash occurred, blinding everyone.
And when I reopened my eyes, I found myself completely surrounded by a massive, holographic blue cube.
Looking above, I could see Anna's head meet the ceiling of the cube and bounce downward, not passing through.
Finally, he used his gifted ability.
Instantly, hundreds of arrows flew up to the sky, thousands of blue lines appearing all across my vision and causing my head to ache.
That's why I was looking down...
While Magnus and Haerin stood there in shock, blinking their eyes at the phenomenon, Magnus suddenly sprinted forward at the cube wall nearest him and jumped.
Instead of falling, he double-jumped off the wall, not once or twice, but three times, his legs boosting off the holographic wall each time and pushing him into the air.
Within a few moments, he had reached the ceiling of the cube, where Anna's body lay.
Kicking off against the wall one last time, he flew vertically through the air, like a missile, right at Anna's defenseless body.
