Transmigrated as An Extra In My Novel's First Draft

Chapter 30: Practical Exam [2]

Slipping through the chaotic crowd of students, I easily found Serena, who now stood beside another girl with sleek black hair, jade-green eyes, and...just a wand.

A magician...

Most people choose to wield regular weapons, imbuing them with magic power; however, a few people still kept to wands, relying solely on magic for everything.

After a slight nod, I approached the group, our last member arriving just a few moments later.

"..."

Really? What are the odds?

Interrupting my thought, Serena suddenly said and walked toward the row of purple portals that had appeared beside the overseer, leaving us behind.

"Just stay here if you'd like."

"..."

In unison, the three remaining of us silently gazed at each other, yet none of us dared argue.

The portals all led to one gigantic subspace, where all cadets' targets lay, so other groups simply leaped into the one closest to them.

However, Serena stood before them, thinking for a moment, before walking toward the fourth from the right edge.

"Insane."

Even I couldn't hold in my shock.

In that less than a minute of time, she had read the portal's wavelength, calculated the distance ratio between it and Earth, and finally used that ratio to transfer the subspace coordinates on her smartwatch into those of Earth.

With that information, Serena simply found the portal closest to the transferred coordinates.

Snapping me back to reality, my two teammates rushed forward as Serena leaped into the portal, prompting me to follow as well.

However, just before I leaped in, the faint image of Haerin and Leo chuckling while walking into a portal alongside two other students appeared.

Really...what was I thinking, placing those two on the same team?

As I entered the portal, my surroundings immediatly began deconstructing until all that was left was a pitch-black void.

Then, in the next moment, a bright flash blinded me.

When I reopened my eyes, I found myself atop a golden-yellow plain, the faint figure of Serena and the others in the distance.

Picking myself up, I sprinted after them, gasping for breath.

...

...

...

Ten minutes, twenty minutes passed...

After thirty, I finally caught up to Ren and Joy, who were lagging behind while desperately gasping for breath, and passed them.

In the distance, Serena's figure vanished from sight as she entered a dense forest, shrouded in darkness.

Speeding up, I entered the forest, weaving through the trees, until finally... a holographic line flashed across my vision.

Simultaneously, in the distance, I could see Serena leaping nimbly between collapsed tree trunks as familiar shadowy figures floated in the sky above.

Immediatly diving to my right, I watched as a purple orb surged downward from the sky, striking the ground where my feet had just stood.

Instantly, a crater appeared in the ground as purple smoke flooded the clearing where Serena was fighting. The entire ground also shook as a nearby tree toppled and fell downward.

...ah.

With the smoke now blocking the sky, the tens of fairies immediatly swarmed in different directions, hiding themselves from the crossbow arrows.

Consequently, a pissed-off yell sounded.

"DAMN IT; I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU ALL TO STAY BEHIND! GO!"

Biting my lip, I simply tilted my head and unsheathed my sword, raising it above my head to intersect a holographic line aimed at my head.

She was the typical annoying and stuck-up character that everyone hated at first, until the protagonist brought about her transformation into a kinder character.

Slicing the orb above me in half, I leaped through the cloud of smoke, into the clearing, while dozens of holographic lines appeared above me.

Tracing them back to the source, I found Serena lying down within a tree trunk, shooting upward from a hole in it.

The entire area was covered in smoke; the only things I could clearly make out were the shadowy figures of some fairies above me, the tree trunks, and my lines.

Since this was never a scene, there was no plotline or order I had to follow. I could do anything I wanted to.

Serena could get last place for all I cared.

As dozens of purple orbs flew downward at me, I lunged forward, jumping from fallen tree trunk to tree trunk, ascending into the air.

Then, with a quick side-step at the highest tree trunk, I vanished from sight before leaping into the air.

Raising my sword above me, I wildly thrashed about with my hand, and within seconds, four limp bodies descended toward the ground.

Falling back to the ground, my figure returning to sight, I watched as Ren and Joy's figures entered the smoke, gasping and coughing.

Finally, pointing my sword at the still log to my right, I asked, tilting my head.

"Going to come out yet?"

"..."

As a downpour of purple orbs, resembling a meteor shower, crashed down toward us, Serena stood upright, narrowing her eyes, still unable to break through the cloud of smoke separating the pixes from us.

Raising my sword, I simply pointed at where a holographic line was and said.

"There."

Instantly, an arrow fired upward, and in the next moment, a limp pixie body fell through the air, landing on the ground between us.

"Reveal them."

Gazing at our two other confused teammates, Serena then commanded condescendingly.

"You two block the orbs. You should be able to do that, right?"

Thus, for the next ten minutes, like a puppet, I stood still and pointed my sword at the sky, using the holographic lines above me to locate the fairies.

An arrow would almost instantly pierce through the owner of the orbs' line with incredible accuracy.

Beside us, Ren and Joy simply sliced through any purple orbs that came near to us.

Aligning my sword with the last holographic line, I plainly said.

"Last one."

*WHHOSH*

A moment later, as a corpse fell through the smoke and onto the ground, all four of our smartwatches vibrated.
