A few hours had passed since the strange woman's voice reverberated across the entire planet.

In that time, Kaiden and the girls found themselves transported to the nearest awakened hospital. They didn't suffer any serious wounds, but it was thought by the arriving governmental agents that they'd best get checked out.

The spacious room they received inside the awakened hospital was a big step up, even compared to the room Kaiden got after beating David Bennett, back during his first-ever duel. It was even better than what Nyx and Aria enjoyed when they suffered serious wounds in the undead dungeon.

It felt as if their status got upgraded all of a sudden in the government's eyes.

A large, OLED television screen glowed in front of them, playing a comedy show they were watching while barely paying any attention to it; it was mostly just background noise.

Kaiden sat sunk into the couch, shoulders finally at ease and arms draped over the backs of his girls. All four of them were near him, relaxing in their own ways.

Nyx leaned into his left side, sipping on her strawberry milkshake with the slow contentment of someone who felt she had earned every drop. She was visibly very satisfied with her performance. Her cheek rested lightly against his shoulder.

On his right, Aria unwrapped a protein bar while softly nuzzling her head against the arm behind her. She was crunching into the bar with her usual vigor while stretching her legs out in front of her. The girl looked like she had a lot of energy left to spare.

Behind them, Bastet lay stretched across the backrest of the couch while using her tail to playfully nudge Kaiden's head. The Solar Empress's body was languid as though she had claimed the best spot all to herself. At the same time, she was licking an ice cream with feline grace with a self-satisfied purr that vibrated.

Between Kaiden's legs, Luna sat cross-legged on the floor with a massive bowl of popcorn nestled against her lap. She leaned back against him, resting her head on his crotch as though it were the most natural pillow in the world. Her commentary sounded every now and then at the comedy show on the TV, mingling with the occasional crunch of popcorn between her teeth.

The five of them formed a picture of mismatched comfort, surrounded by the sterile walls and antiseptic scent of the hospital, yet creating a warmth that made the place feel alive.

Luna tossed another handful of popcorn into her mouth, chewed noisily, and then tilted her head back against Kaiden's lap. Her eyes stayed fixed on the screen, but her voice cut through the cozy quiet.

"So the world is ending or what?"

Nyx gave a little purr before sipping her milkshake again. "Should we just get pregnant while we can? I want to feel what it's like to carry Kai's child in my womb."

Both Kaiden and Aria turned toward her at the same time. Their faces carried the same wry look. "You know, we always say that Luna is the one with the unhinged mouth, but you can certainly hold a candle to her. You're just better at hiding it," Aria decreed.

"You're one to talk about being normal, yandere bestie… You do realize your possessive feelings are going a bit above and beyond what's considered normal, right? You're honestly reminding me of the unhinged little sis," Nyx shot back.

Aria didn't know what to say. The images of Alice's manic expression flooded her mind.

Luna let out a loud scoff while shaking her head. "The cowkin bitch with a body made for breeding has a breeding kink? Who would have guessed? That's just Mother Nature at work at this point."

She crunched on another piece of popcorn and narrowed her eyes as though she was thinking deeply. "But then why give her an anal kink as well? That is the definition of counterproductive. Or maybe her body is such a perfect little cum dumpster that she can get pregnant even through that entrance…? Who knows, maybe it increases her chances of pumping out triplets or something if both holes are stuffed with white goo."

Nyx only grinned widely, completely unbothered. "I love you too, bestie."

Then, perhaps to rub it in, she flicked her fingers and lifted a handful of popcorn out of Luna's bowl with her telekinesis. The kernels floated speedily through the air before sliding into her waiting mouth. She bit down with a smug little crunch, staring Luna down while chewing extra slow. The Storm Valkyrie instantly shot her a glare sharp enough to cut steel, but Nyx only leaned more comfortably into Kaiden's shoulder, her grin widening with every second.

While this was going on, Aria groaned painedly and covered her face with her hand. "Thanks for your thorough analysis, Luna, but please keep it to yourself next time. You're ruining the mood."

Luna only shrugged and went back to munching popcorn as if nothing had happened, though the girl was now acting a lot more protective toward her bowl, shielding it with both arms like a dragon guarding treasure. She shot the occasional side–eye at Nyx, as if daring the cowkin to steal even a single kernel again.

Bastet, meanwhile, was purring in deep satisfaction. She lazily licked her ice cream with slow, sensual strokes, eyes half-lidded with feline delight. At the same time, her lush dark tail brushed over Kaiden's head, curling down to give him constant, teasing headpats. The motion was deliberate, filled with suggestion.

"Master," she drawled with a sly smile, "you have a strange taste in human women. Only your taste in monster girls seems to be exceptional."

The statement was enough to earn her a trio of scoffs.

"Exceptional?" Luna asked. "You mean the lazy kitten with a submissive streak?"

"She's basically a lap warmer with a chocolate body," Nyx added without missing a beat.

Aria tore into her protein bar with extra force. "The tanned kitten is a catwoman, so why does she not have a furry body? Kaiden wouldn't have found her desirable if she had fur; it would've eliminated her from contention…" she muttered with a deep, dissatisfied frown.

Bastet only laughed softly, hearing their words. Her purring was rising in its intensity. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but all I'm hearing as negatives about me is that I like to be beneath my master, that my skin is tanned instead of full of hair, and that I like to be as close to my chosen man as possible, ideally seated on his lap with his big, warm rod impaling me from below. I might be new to humans, but wouldn't any sane male call me the perfect wife candidate?"

"Yet one of you is a lunatic who can't keep her mouth shut for the life of her, the other likes taking it in the ass and is also a cuck, while the last is outright deranged. You flawed human women are just jealous of this one's excellence."

"!!!"

Three pairs of eyes snapped in her direction all at once.

But the tanned kitten did not care. Instead, she punctuated her words by letting her tail sweep across Kaiden's cheeks in a bold bump, daring him to disagree. Her tongue darted out for another slow lick of her ice cream, her smug eyes fixed on him.

As always, Kaiden elected to sit this one out. He wasn't one to get between the catfighting of his lovers, unless things got out of hand.

Instead, his head moved back toward the TV screen. He grabbed the remote and began shifting through news channels instead of watching the comedy show. What he saw there quickly demanded his attention.

The world was changing.
