Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear

Chapter 250: Title Track

By the time the second concept meeting arrived, the group had managed to compose three songs. With each member contributing a share of their MC, they managed to scrape by with these three songs.

'My savings…'

Rayen had painstakingly tried to save up, even limiting his snacks intake for the past few days, but it all dwindled down just to produce these songs.

It better pass, or else!

Reluctantly, they also included an enhanced version of Yeo Haru's song as well as the poem that Xi Huan recited in front of Rayen — though they had to erase the mama's milk part.

In a sense, Xi Huan's poem had a good sentiment. Wanting to go back to your childhood and reminiscing about the happy memories.

Unlike before, they were the first ones to arrive. Before the clock struck the agreed-upon time, the other members of the meeting committee also arrived.

In addition to the people who attended the first meeting, three new familiar faces also came — Harjun, Ms. Beatrice, and Ms. Pia.

Upon meeting his two former sponsors' gazes, Ms. Beatrice gave him a soft smile.

Director leisurely leaned on her seat before explaining to the group. "Ms. Beatrice and Ms. Pia is here as the Creative Director and the Head Stylist."

The members of SEEDZ simultaneously nodded. However, Rayen's gaze couldn't help but land on one figure on their opposite side.

Harjun's head bobbed down, his forehead almost banging on the table. Fortunately, he was able to react in time and jerked his head back up.

'Was he sleeping just now?'

Harjun fixed his clothes. Casually glancing around, he met Rayen's eyes.

"....." Harjun stiffened.

To save Harjun's face, Rayen looked away and feigned a cough. But after a few minutes, Harjun eventually fell back to sleep as though he had already forgotten about their earlier encounter.

It seemed like Xu Jiji had just gained a sleeping competitor.

"Then, let's start with the meeting. How's the song composition coming along?" The director glanced at Adrian, decisively ignoring Harjun so as not to stress herself.

It was the damn Plotter, who involved this abominable Harjun.

"We've already produced three songs."

"Three songs? Not bad." Then, she looked at Ayumi. "What about you?"

"She composed three songs too."

The members of SEEDZ all pursed their lips.

Three songs?

They sighed inwardly.

The nine of them had only managed to scrape up three songs together, but Ayumi was able to do it alone... This fact also boosted the ego of Ayumi's manager.

How much money did she shoulder by herself?

But that didn't mean they had already lost.

Today's meeting isn't about

the side who managed to draft more songs. Today, they will choose the main track and decide on the final theme concept.

And besides, among those three songs, they only had to present the best one they thought stood the most chance to be chosen as the title track.

Indeed, having many songs at their disposal would increase their chance to land the title track competition, but it still depended on the song quality.

"Which side should we listen to first?" Ayumi's manager said, his face flushed in excitement.

With calm faces, the group let Ayumi start presenting her song.

When the song started playing, even the sleeping Harjun seemed to shake awake.

The song had an upbeat melody, and the percussion instruments were almost playing with the listener's ears. After the first part of the song finished, Rayen could already try to hum along with the next part.

That was how catchy and memorable it was.

The moment the song finished, the members' gazes all turned to Ayumi.

No one could deny it. Ayumi really does have the talent for it. Although Rayen already knew her production skill stat, he hadn't really realized what having an L stat really meant. After all, throughout the show, they didn't have to create a song from scratch.

Beads of cold sweat had already formed on Rayen's forehead.

Once everyone in the meeting room had recovered from hearing Ayumi's song, the Director also instructed the team's song to be played.

Adrian immediately handed the USB to Plotter. As for the song they chose to present… it was actually the song Yeo Haru put his heart into the most.

It may sound silly, but the whole group agreed to this decision.

The music played.

Soon, the whole meeting room was filled with the murmur of crickets, and then layered with other random sounds — the sound of the rotating wheel of an electric fan, the ticking of the clock, and the footsteps of an unknown person gradually turning louder.

Layers upon layers of random sounds interlaced into one song, forming an eerie scene in their minds.

Ayumi's sponsor rubbed his arms to ease the hair standing on his skin.

Director frowned, and Plotter grinned widely.

Just then, the sound of water droplets formed an indistinct but somewhat familiar melody.

'Is this Twinkle Little Star?'

However, it still sounded different.

The people inside the room were all focused on the sounds. Only Ayumi's face remained static. Just then, she turned her large eyes toward the group and blinked.

Inwardly, Rayen was chuckling.

'Behold the wealth of our group!'

As someone who led the team in producing this song, he incorporated the principle he learned from her — use everything. So, he used every sound he could think of that would evoke a sense of horror.

If someone listened to this song late at night in a dark room, they would surely imagine someone walking down the hallway, slowly approaching their room like a night stalker.

After the song ended, the Director was already frowning. And then, she sighed while tapping the desk with her finger.

Rayen watched the changes in her expression.

However, the group still wasn't done with their presentation.

Just as everyone thought it was over, Ren suddenly stood up.

"What's wrong?" Director asked.

"I'd like to show you a presentation to convince you that this song is the best choice among the two."

"... No need. Sit back down."

"But—"

"Just tell me what you have in mind."

Ren begrudgingly sat back down and explained, "We want to suggest a horror concept for this song. However, not just a simple horror concept."

"Oh?"

"What kind of not-so-simple horror concept is it?"

Ren smirked. He was, after all, an expert in this field.

"A horror game concept."

"That's also good…" Director said, but she seemed lethargic as the seconds passed.

She was already tired, she just wanted to finish this and lie back down in her room. This feeling became even worse with Harjun and Xu Jiji sleeping in front of her.

"Unfortunately, we can't just use roulette to decide on this matter," Director whispered.

The corner of Rayen's mouth twitched.

'You want to use roulette to determine the title track?'

"Unfortunately, since we're dealing with unreleased songs, it has no records on Life Books, so we can't really rely on fate's prediction on what's the most favorable song," Plotter said.

"....."

It seemed like they were on the same wavelength today, unlike back then.

The both of them seemed at a loss on how to choose between the two songs.

Just then, they both turned toward the woman in veil.

Since they couldn't ask fate, why not just ask the world itself?
