Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear

Chapter 214: Final Round (4)

The crowd gasped the moment Rayen opened his mouth to sing. Their minds seemed to lag for a second, unable to process the ever changing performance before them.

Before they could even report to the police of their ears getting violated, the music suddenly changed again.

"It's hard standing in front of you

One time, the gun is in your holster,

One time, it's in my forehead."

Rayen's calm and precise notes reached the ears of the listeners, as if healing them from the previous torment.

Everyone on stage started to move, aiming their hand guns on each other.

Snap! Snap!

The atmosphere, which seemed like something wrong was swirling in the air, suddenly exploded. The simultaneous snapping of their fingers initiated the fight that broke. Invisible bullets rained on stage.

Liam rolled on the floor to "evade" the imaginary bullets, changing position with Rayen at the center. Then, he started to rap with his low voice.

"It's getting a bit tiring.

Rising, descending.

Why don't you just pull the trigger?

Let this drama be over."

As he rapped, the lights on the stage dimmed, bathing everyone in the darkness. However, a light seemingly coming from a projector, illuminated Liam and the wall behind him.

A video of everyone hanging out, laughing amongst each other, dancing silly moves, and eating together, was played on the wall.

"At some point, aren't we just

Trying to argue over simple things?"

Liam's tone of voice seemed filled with regrets. He glanced back, a tinge of nostalgia visible on his eyes.

"Now, what's with the cold words?

Faced with your gunpoint,

I can't retaliate."

Something seemed to tug at the audience's hearts. They couldn't help but tear up at this scene.

The members in the dark aimed their hands at Liam.

Snap, snap!

"BANG! BANG!

Standing still, I will accept it.

Without armor on, not resisting.

It's less painful like this."

The lights returned.

Everyone moved in seamlessly to their new formation. However, one person seemed distracted and moved a second late — Adrian.

Rayen caught this mistake from the corner of his eyes. His fears came true.

Performing onstage in a terrible condition is a bad decision.

Thankfully, although Adrian committed a mistake, it wasn't as obvious to the audience. Adrian's face remained unfazed from his mistake and continued to dance to the choreography.

Rayen sighed inwardly.

This situation shouldn't continue. If he let it be, the next mistake might not go unnoticed by the audience by then.

The bridge of the song gradually approached. The dance break also approached.

The dance break was supposed to be Ara's center stage. However, the incident happened, and it was Adrian who replaced her as the second person who had the highest dance skill out of everyone.

Before the bridge, the chorus came. It was Rayen's turn to sing again. He figured he must move now.

"Your words, like bullets.

I can never ever forget.

BANG! BANG!"

His booming voice echoed loudly throughout the venue, grabbing the audience's eyes and ears toward him.

His enthusiasm caught his other teammates off guard. They all glanced at him at the corner of their eyes. When Rayen's eyes met Adrian's, a slight smirk appeared on the corner of Rayen's lips.

'Oi, oi. You shouldn't ruin the performance, dear writer! I can't afford to die!'

Adrian's brow raised in offense as though hearing what's on his mind.

'Yeah, I'm berating you right now! Got any problem with that?'

Adrian rolled his eyes to ignore him.

'This writer has such a bad temper these days.'

When Rayen's turn to sing ended, he was still somewhat worried. But then, another unexpected thing happened.

Before the enthusiasm that Rayen brought forth completely faded, Ren continued to sing in the same vigor.

Rayen's eyes slightly widened in surprise.

'Since when was Ren able to sing this good?'

Rayen had no recollection of any noteworthy performance from Ren. He was so unremarkable, it hurt Rayen's liver when he got kicked out of the vocal group during the 2nd round by him.

Yet now...

"Your words, like bullets.

Deeply engraved in my heart.

BANG! BANG!"

Back at the center of the stage, although it was Adrian who was leading the dance, he was completely overthrown by the two people beside him.

This was complete bullying. His broken pride stabbed him right in the chest.

Glancing at Rayen, a flashback of the incident that happened appeared in his mind.

He still hadn't confronted this lousy dancer for what happened, yet he was getting provoked by him right now.

This was totally unacceptable.

...

Minji watched the spectacular performance happening onstage before her. She tightly grasped Seoyun's hands and screamed.

"Rayen! Rara! Aaaahhhhh!!!"

She jumped up and down as she screamed, bringing Seoyun along. In her eyes, she could only see Rayen. The others didn't matter now.

However, when the dance break started, a halo seemed to form in Adrian's head. His every movement stole Minji's and the others' attention until their eyes forcefully stayed on him.

The battlefield of old friends turned even more chaotic. Because one of them was infected by the virus that plagued the earth, the camaraderie they had formed had been broken.

How funny. Just a few days earlier, isn't this situation the same as what happened to their team?

Because of one simple prompt, two of their members suddenly disappeared.

As Adrian wallowed in his thoughts, he executed every move with sharp and precise movements.

The audience watched with bated breaths.

Although their team didn't have a highly skilled choreographer such as Xu Jiji and Yeo Haru, they still had Ara. From what Rayen knew, her dance skill should have been at A-ranked.

She was the one who arranged the choreography and key steps of Meteor and Book's Finale, together with Adrian. Ara's legacy continued through their dance steps, and now, Adrian was living it.

Still, they knew that their team's dance skills weren't enough to contend with the other team. That's why Rayen had to think of another idea to make it seem more grand.

When Rayen thought of using everything, he really did use everything.

Since he had upgraded his Production Skills to the S rank, it would be a waste to not use it. And with Liam's experience in music composition from their first life, arranging three songs into a single song was a breeze.

The three songs merged into a new masterpiece.

If they can't compete with their dancing, use the music. If still, that wasn't enough, use everything!

"But when you did pull the trigger,

BANG! BANG!"

When these lyrics rang out once again during the bridge, the invisible bullets could finally be seen.

Rayen and everyone's shirts were dyed by a rainbow of colors. The formerly gloomy ruined stage was covered in colors. The viewer's vision was filled to the brim with colorful paint.

It was a feast for the eyes.

"I thought I didn't care.

But damn, it hurt so bad."

Even though the world seemed colorful, the hateful words that seemed like bullets continued to hurt them.

"It hurts.

But now it's over.

Minji's eyes teared up. She was reminded of everything that happened to Rayen in the past.

Hateful words, evil-editing, bullying... Rayen stood still to accept all of it.

This song... was he telling everyone to stop and end it?
