A slightly narcissistic Lu Ren reached out to open the vanity drawer, where inside were some decorative items commonly used by women.
A few hairpins, a fork, and some trinkets for styling hair.
To Lu Ren's surprise, the drawer also contained a few boxes of rouge and other cosmetic powders.
"I thought these Immortal Gods were naturally beautiful, with skin like creamy jade, yet they still use these rouges and powders."
Lu Ren grinned, picked up the rouge and played with it a bit, then sniffed it under his nose before frowning and putting it down.
Perhaps this rouge was once extremely precious, but after so much time, no matter how fragrant it once was, it had turned rancid and unpleasant.
Muttering a low sentence, he put down the rouge. After confirming there were no other items on the vanity, he was about to leave when he suddenly saw a white shadow in the copper mirror.
Lu Ren's gaze narrowed slightly, his body froze, and he turned to look behind him.
Nothing at all!?
In the copper mirror!
Lu Ren looked again into the copper mirror, but still, there was nothing, absolutely nothing.
Did he see wrong?
Lu Ren immediately dismissed this thought; with his current strength and realm, it would be impossible to see something that wasn't there. If there was something, it would be there. If not, it wouldn't be. Something must be up.
Although a little startled, Lu Ren quickly calmed his mind. He didn't have the intention to leave the room; instead, he approached the vanity again, observing the smooth, mirror-like copper mirror carefully.
The copper was a golden-yellow, with no visible bumps or marks, yet no matter how he looked, he found no trace of any marks.
Lu Ren simply decided to pry the mirror off the vanity. However, to his surprise, it seemed firmly welded to the vanity, not budging at all.
Is this going to be a contest of strength?!
Lu Ren's gaze turned cold, and with a loud boom from his Qi and Blood, his arm muscles bulged, and he directly broke the vanity that seemed decayed but was actually extremely tough.
He only heard a low buzzing wail, like the sound of a mosquito, before black mist burst forth from the mirror, surging towards Lu Ren.
Lu Ren's expression didn't change at all; he was fully prepared, showing no surprise.
Within him, Qi and Blood surged like mighty rivers; the Ten Earth True Qi manifested like spiritual light, and the Power of Haoyang and Zhengda followed.
Immaculate and Indestructible, Vajra Ruyi, Great Freedom!
Lu Ren softly chanted within, as countless bizarre phenomena appeared, exuding sacred majesty.
Beams of Buddha Light illuminated, making the semi-ruined palace as bright as day.
Dispelling all evils, cleansing countless demons, illuminating everything in the world.
But to Lu Ren's surprise, the black mist seemed unimpeded, despite the layers of Buddha Light, invading his body in the blink of an eye.
In an instant, Lu Ren felt as if his body was plunged into an ice cave, his entire body freezing cold. With a frosty expression, he furiously operated the Past Maitreya True Scripture.
Disregard the future, not in the present, sink into the past.
As if time was reversing, the initially practiced Future Buddha True Scripture was operated by Lu Ren, the black mist that invaded him was pushed back out without obstruction.
Taking advantage, Lu Ren retreated rapidly, crashing through a wall with a loud bang, creating a huge hole, and exited the palace.
Through the big hole, the black mist swirled inside the palace, unable to find any target, gradually dissipating.
"How did you avoid this thing?!"
In the Inner Realm, Chang Xin spoke with disbelief as if encountering something incredibly unbelievable.
Beside her, Subodhi looked at Lu Ren with excitement, as if witnessing a miracle.
"The Past Maitreya True Scripture, it's actually the Past Maitreya True Scripture?!! When did you master it?!"
He hadn't seen when Lu Ren practiced it. Exploring the Inner Realm of the Beidou Emperor Star, he was pulled into the Chaos Rift Interstice World to acquire the Past Maitreya True Scripture, and then returned to the Moon.
This specific period was extremely short; that scroll of scripture was in Lu Ren's hands for merely a dozen hours...
In just a dozen hours, he comprehended the Past Maitreya True Scripture?!
What kind of demon is this?!
For a moment, Subodhi didn't know whether to cry or laugh—sad because he watched someone collect the Past, Present, and Future True Scriptures, recreating everything of Shakyamuni's.
Why, why was this not him? He once revered Shakyamuni to the extreme, viewing him as his faith, yet Shakyamuni was indifferent to his gaze, and even Ksitigarbha gained more than he did.
And Lu Ren, someone who neither respects Buddha, nor chants Buddha's name, and even scoffs at the True Intent of the Buddhist Sect, had instead gathered the supreme True Skills of the Buddhist Sect within himself.
Yet amusing was that he could witness the collection of the three True Scriptures in his lifetime.
"Ksitigarbha, oh Ksitigarbha, did you see? Shakyamuni moved aside, Tathagata disappeared, and it turned out to be him. Shakyamuni, was your choice truly right?"
The diverse expressions in the Inner Realm didn't overly concern Lu Ren, or rather, even if he noticed the murmurs of those in the Inner Realm, he didn't dwell on them too much.
He merely noted Chang Xin's words, then asked.
"Have you seen that thing?"
"That's Nether Qi, existing between reality and illusion, akin to a high-dimensional state object. Once it's stained you, your fate will be dire, gradually covered by Nether Qi and dragged into the Netherworld."
"The Netherworld? Where is the Netherworld?"
"It's a deeper layer of the Seeking Truth Ideology." Chang Xin's tone was enigmatic, clearly reminiscing something rather unpleasant.
"Back when I was exploring the Seeking Truth Realm, I found my truest image, condensed the Human Immortal Path Fruit. By relying on the phenomenon emitted during its condensation, I once entered the Inner Image. There..."
Chang Xin didn't say more, merely commenting: "If you ever get the chance to condense the Human Immortal Path Fruit, you'll see what's there."
Disorderly...
Nether Qi...
Lu Ren stared at the palace for a long time, finally raising his hand to look at the copper mirror in his hand, still tightly grasping the pried-off copper mirror, before withdrawing.
The Nether Qi had brought an extremely intense sense of crisis, almost putting him in a near-death state instantly. If it weren't for having initially mastered the Past Maitreya True Scripture, he would have been helpless against the Nether Qi, watching as it entered him, dragging him into the unknown Netherworld.
"Ding, you've missed an opportunity to enter the Seeking Truth Inner Image."
The belated system prompt made Lu Ren feel somewhat irritated. He was completely unaware of what was inside the Inner Image, but based on the horrifying sense that the Nether Qi brought, if it truly entered, there would certainly be great terror, or it wouldn't have induced a near-death sensation.
