By warping the space between two locations, Axerion Theocheirós was able to cover vast distances in a very short amount of time. This was a power that comes from the god of space, and Axerion was currently the only man to ever be able to use it.
The divine skill used a tremendous amount of celestial energy, so Axerion had to wait several days before being able to use it again. Right now, Axerion fortunately had enough celestial energy to save Thevon Luxier from destroying himself.
The leader of divinity transported himself to the sky where Thevon was levitating like a black hole that sucked every matter nearby. The supreme mage's hands were tightly clenched, and inside his fists were the rings that should act as a suppressor for his immense mana capacity.
Axerion used wind magic to keep himself in the air and then flew towards Thevon. He grabbed his hands and forcefully took the rings from him all the while not trying to be spaghettified by the void in Thevon's heart. With a loud yell, Axerion was finally able to take the rings and was now about to put them back on Thevon's fingers.
If removing two rings resulted in this world ending catastrophe, Axerion couldn't imagine what would happen if all of Thevon's suppressors were to be removed. He might just absorb the entire planet, or heck even the universe itself.
"Take it easy boy!" Axerion exclaimed as he struggled to simply put two rings on his fingers.
After a grueling, and quite awkward struggle, Axerion was finally able to put Thevon's suppressors back on.
The unstoppable pulling force of the void stopped as abruptly as it appeared. Thousands of debris that were about to get sucked in fell to the ground one by one to the blackened soil and withered forest. Dried up lifeless bodies of animals could be seen below and not even maggots were left to feast on their flesh.
Everything in the area was dead and had vanished to oblivion — whatever was on the other side of that void.
Axerion clutched Thevon's body that just went limp and unconscious. They slowly descended to the barren wastelands Thevon had created and Raven and the other Luxier Clan members rushed in to help them.
Raven Luxier crouched down and worriedly inspected his son.
"He's simply exhausted," he said after carefully scanning him.
Axerion stood up, looking down on the father and son.
"It's not so much of a curse now is it?" he remarked.
Raven didn't respond immediately. Instead he ordered the servants to take Thevon to a safe place to recover.
"It's both a blessing and a curse," he said.
"He will soon inherit the clan, and will procure an heir of his own. This ability of his might come in handy in situations like these, but I fear that history will repeat itself. I can only pray that it wouldn't."
Axerion let out a sigh, putting both hands on his waist as he observed the pure devastation in Callex.
He spoke.
"You do realize that our prayers never really dictate our fate, right?"
Raven frowned.
"But it's the only thing we can hold on to. Especially in desperation."
Axerion shook his head, chuckling. He then muttered:
"If only gods gave a rat's ass."
Raven looked at him with disapproval.
"How can you be the Godhand and blaspheme the divine so easily?" he asked.
Axerion met his gaze, a faint smirk was evident on his face.
He answered.
"The more you know about the divine, the more you realize that they're not so different from us. At our core, we're all selfish rotten mongrels with no understanding of reality at all."
"Trust me, if anyone knows how puny a god really is, it would be none other than me," he added.
Raven gave up on trying to understand him and just looked up at the darkening sky.
Axerion did the same.
"That thing appeared several hours ago," Raven muttered.
"Any clue what that is?"
There was a crimson star shining ominously behind the moon. It was emitting a gloomy red glow that even reflected on the moon's side.
"Honestly, I have no idea what that is," Axerion answered.
"Let's just wait for my son's return. I'm sure he knows something since Angelus went straight to him."
Raven asked worriedly:
"Are you sure he could defeat Angelus? The Demon King who even the five governing clans combined couldn't contain and even the divine couldn't kill?"
Axerion squinted while still gazing at the crimson star.
He then answered:
"Dheinyrus has always been a mystery. Even as his father, there are times when I can't understand what his actions mean. Only to be surprised by the great outcomes of his labor."
"He's solved countless problems for our clans in my absence. I'm confident in his abilities as an heir and the future clan head. Dheinyrus can and will defeat the Demon King."
Raven exhaled sharply.
"If you say so. It's not like I'd be able to do anything about it by doubting your son."
He crossed his arms and looked up at the crimson star once again.
"The fate of the world rests on his shoulders."
Axerion muttered:
"That's right."
And then, under his breath, he added:
"Which is why I'm sure he will understand."
Raven glanced at him.
"What did you say?" he asked.
Axerion shrugged.
"Nothing. We should head back to Selense and help my daughter. I'm sure even she would struggle against that behemoth of ancient."
Raven sighed.
"You're right."
And with that, the two flew towards east to the kingdom of Selense.
***
The behemoth, and a bunch of other spiritual monster Angelus let escape originally came from the Wixorn Village. The Spirit Clan members tried their best to contain these beasts again but fighting the monsters they had managed to narrowly defeat over the years in one day proved to be an impossible challenge.
The Wixorns halted all operations and focused all of their forces into capturing the indestructible monsters. They were able to manage a few successful sealing but the stronger ones had ran off and wreaked havoc into the neighboring kingdoms and cities.
From the north west, the mountainous behemoth marched south to Selense Kingdom and trampled on everything in its path. Entire villages were flattened under its crushing weight that shook the earth itself.
And now, it was in Selense Kingdom.
The only one who the people could rely on to stop it was the daughter of Divinity Clan's leader, Zarria Theocheirós.
The behemoth walked on all fours, its back was a round hump with sharp triangular scales. Its limbs were thick and muscled, covered in impenetrable skin and scale. Its head resembled that of a snapping turtle but it only had one dark glossy marble eye at the center of its head. A zigzag pattern could be seen across its back and under its belly.
But the most dangerous thing about this giant wasn't its crushing mass or its invincibility.
The behemoth could produce a sonic wave that could wipe out a mountain range. It had already destroyed a lot of cities and villages on the way to Selence.
If only Zarria had known that she wouldn't have any chance to pray, she would have casted Divine Retribution from a mile off. She had been desperately trying to shut the behemoth's mouth to keep it from destroying the kingdom all this time ever since she came to help defeat it.
Upon King Garvill's request, the Divinity Clan sent several members to deal with the behemoth. But even then they still couldn't handle the massive creature.
Zarria's eyes widened when the behemoth opened its mouth and threatened to produce another crushing sonic wave.
"Now!" Zarria yelled, prompting the clan members to execute their task.
Jovian Theocheirós, one of her aunt's and Axerion's sister, led the group responsible for interrupting the behemoth's destructive attack. Some used frost magic to seal its mouth temporarily and when it broke free, the rest of them shot out the mysterious energy beam from the ominous portals summoned by their prayers.
It successfully stopped the sonic attack. Almost instantaneously, Zarria leaped up and descended with a meteoric speed. She spun in the air and delivered a celestial enhanced axe kick straight on top of the behemoth's head, rattling its brain.
The behemoth was ultra fast for its size. In the blink of an eye, it chomped on where Zarria was. She was aware of this monster's deadly ability and immediately leaped into safety.
The more she fought this monster, the more Zarria was impressed how Dhein was able to defeat the same kind of monster with just one hit!
Alas, he is not here right now. Perhaps this was the reason why Dhein put her through so much training and hardships, to prepare her for situations where he was not present.
Zarria was right for never doubting her brother. Indeed, all of his actions have divine purposes!
