How should everyone comment on Mohe's complaints?
"I know what she's thinking. Ultimately, she just thinks she's right, so the things she's right about need protection, and the things I'm wrong about need correction. Hence, her righteous Celestial Realm needs to be isolated from the ground, and the erroneous ground needs her correction. That's how she's always felt. I reckon she thinks I don't appreciate her efforts at all. Alas, one can only say that back then we were too young, having lived merely twenty to thirty thousand years or so."
Such is the time perception of Eternal Life Forms...
"This world of the undead was once called the embrace of the Goddess, considered an answer from the Goddess regarding past events. The extinction of races, the demise of life, resulting in hatred, curses, finally accumulating into ominousness, leading to the destruction of the World Tree. New races stopped emerging, which is why the Goddess and I were continually creating new races... So, she believes that if the souls of life forms could be correctly guided, that hatred and those curses could completely dissipate."
She looked at the puzzled expressions of everyone, and she suddenly realized something: "Ah... I seem to have not told you about the matters between me and Julia... Alas, lately, I seem to have been trapped in past memories, and it's Mr. Doro's fault—always doing excessive things to me. You know, once a person has done such things, they inevitably end up pondering life in emptiness. Now that I'm human, I can't avoid such things; I've accidentally recalled too much of the past during this time, making me a bit confused."
She briefly recounted the events that happened after she and Julia were born.
"You, this... "
Her story sounded even more incredible than the Holy Record.
"In short, Julia created a lie. She said that all lives would come to her embrace after death, a warm and happiest belonging—she tried to counteract the innate fear of death that life forms possess since their inception. If one does not fear death, or even yearns for it, there would naturally be no resentment towards death, no hatred towards the creators, no curses, and ominousness wouldn't be born."
Mohe and others stepped onto the ground of the World of the Dead, recounting these lesser-known stories.
"Didn't I mention something about balance with you before? The balance of life's quantity— I said that humans are a race favored by the Goddess... Julia tried to create a world wherein all lives eventually become human. Of course, I'm referring to intelligent races; non-intelligent life forms do not possess complete souls."
Everyone nodded seemingly understanding yet not really.
"In any case, it's indeed a successful conception. After you, Mr. Doro, defeated me, the Goddess's design unfolded seamlessly on its road to success. To be honest, I don't quite understand why she would die at this point. She was just about to prove her correctness to me. The world was progressing according to her design. Frankly, even now, I am very curious about the current state of the Celestial Realm and wish to witness its visage."
Mohe shook her head: "We're drifting off topic, but indeed, we must wait a bit—my power is currently invading the passage between the Celestial Realm and the World of the Dead, and you all will have to wait a little while, think of it as passing the time—"
Her eyes had reverted to gold and silver, indicating her vision no longer lingered in this World of the Dead, but was gazing through time and space, looking at the Celestial Realm.
"You all have heard about things between me and the Goddess; what do you think, am I right, or is Julia right?"
Mohe suddenly posed this question.
Elf and Roland shook their heads and waved their hands immediately upon hearing the question, indicating they didn't know.
Doro pondered for a while and exchanged a glance with Charlette.
"...You are indeed followers of the Goddess?"
Mohe roughly understood their thoughts, although Doro and Charlette could be said to have diverged and are practically opposites in some respects, it doesn't mean their ideologies are different. In the end, it was Charlette who directed Doro's progression—during the crucial period when Doro's worldview was forming, she had a significant impact on him.
Thinking that race, civilization, needs to be guided like that is normal; after all, they have always moved forward under the guidance of the Goddess.
"So, Feiker thinks the same?"
After all, Feiker possesses the memories of the former Doro.
"I'm thinking, was the destruction of the World Tree an inevitable process? Perhaps your existence wasn't meant to protect the World Tree."
"You mean?"
Feiker shook his head: "I can't say for sure, it just seems like—perhaps, the destruction of the World Tree is the journey this world should embark upon. The future should be created not by you or the Goddess, but by the various major races."
"I see, I understand your point."
Mohe made no comment: "However, there's no time to discuss this now."
She seemed to have asked the question casually, not genuinely caring about the answer.
"We're almost there. I have already touched upon the Goddess's defense systems, and they have started to attack my powers. Mr. Doro, we might rely on you."
The few of them waved goodbye to Elf and Roland.
A road like one constructed from starlight suddenly formed. As if leading to the endless firmament.
"Let's go. Step on the stairs of souls, heading towards the supreme Celestial Realm."
These countless starlights are indeed the numerous souls in this world.
...
"Automatic Defense System Activated! Automatic Defense System Activated! Warning, Automatic Defense System Activated!"
Such a voice echoed throughout the Celestial Realm.
"Judge! Have you heard the sound of the world! It is the prophecy of the Gods!"
"The misunderstood bell tolls, darkness is about to engulf the heavens, and destruction is about to spread from the ground to the firmament!... Notify all of High Heaven! Enter war status! This is... the wrath of the Gods!"
"Yes!"
The starlit path, seemingly leading to the firmament, was not far at all. At least, to these few people, it felt as though they had only taken a few steps before they had crossed some kind of invisible barrier and thereby—saw the clouds!
This was different from the sky in the sense of the ground, different from the dense clouds seen when flying to the sky. Even from afar, they saw various floating items carried by the clouds.
"The Celestial Realm—"
Doro muttered to himself: "Is this the Celestial Realm? The world above the clouds, a world filled with peace and harmony..."
"Before you marvel, perhaps you should act first."
With Mohe's words, blazing white light shot from the clouds above.
Doro directly extended his hand, grasped the blazing white light, and then crushed that light.
He retracted his hand and looked at the mark: "This... can hurt me?"
Although the mark quickly disappeared, Doro's expression became solemn: "Is this the automatic defense system set up by the Goddess?"
"Since it's meant to guard against me, it's bound to be something that could hurt me—Mr. Doro, this is not an attack to be ignored. It is part of the Goddess's power, you see, here comes another one."
This time, Doro didn't do anything but walked ahead of everyone else, marching directly into such brilliance.
