The Reborn Demon King Girl

Chapter 73: Inspection in Sim City

Mohe's estate has been chaotic recently; this is inevitable with new residents moving in. Before the maids undergo thorough training to transform into the ideal maids Mohe envisions, some chaos is expected and must be endured. So, Mohe has been frequently going out to have fun these past few days.

Either fishing or shopping; but overall, everyone can see Mohe's mood is quite good.

However, today is the rare occasion of Mohe, Lisidorwei, and Doro going out together.

Doro and Lisidorwei plan to move out. Although Baixi Town is a good choice, Lisidorwei still leans towards living in Sim City.

This city may seem ordinary, but it is quite a decent choice.

After all, compared to Baixi Town, it offers more entertainment options. Furthermore, Doro and Lisidorwei both need a formal job. Although they are powerful, if they wish for a peaceful life, they can't be too flashy. So today, Mohe accompanies them for exploration.

"But why not follow my suggestion and disguise yourselves as minor nobles, buy a bigger house, and live as one? Wouldn't that be nice?" Mohe suggested to them. "Lisidorwei, now that you're a member of the Blood Race, you should have the ability to create your own subordinates, right?"

Unlike the original Vampires who created familiars, Lisidorwei, reborn by Mohe's power, actually has the ability to create "Blood Servants."

These Blood Servants are somewhat different from the past familiars. To put it differently, they're more like when Lisidorwei used Mohe's tool to create Gargoyles.

They are genuinely new lives, not transformed through humans.

In fact, Lisidorwei is quite puzzled. She doesn't really understand why Mohe bestowed such an ability upon her.

"Have you been taking the medicine I gave you properly? Logically, there should be a reaction from your belly by now." Mohe patted Lisidorwei's belly, "Is there a problem with my medicine?"

Saying this, she couldn't help but look at Doro: "Or perhaps, Mr. Doro, is there a problem with you? Are you not trying hard enough, or do you have some illness... Speaking of which, your curse hasn't been resolved yet. Should I take a good look for you? There might be a curse of childlessness—considering the team members' feelings towards you, I think this is possible. Even if it's not harming you physically, making you childless is quite normal."

At this point, Doro's expression changed.

Not trying hard enough? Having an illness? A childless curse?

No matter which one, it doesn't seem like a satisfactory answer for himself.

Could it be that Mohe is actually mocking him?

Seeing Doro's somewhat exploratory gaze, Mohe assumed an innocent expression: "No matter what the problem is, if you just want a child, Lisidorwei can accomplish it, right? If you're not successful in reproducing using human methods, why not try with the Blood Race's methods? By blending your essences, you can create entirely new life, and have a child. However..."

She said with a hint of meaning: "Mr. Doro, do you have the confidence to be a good father? Lisidorwei, do you have the assurance to be a good mother?"

This question left both of them speechless. Certainly, they've imagined raising children, but in the true sense of raising a child...

Doro and Lisidorwei exchanged glances, revealing a timid expression. Clearly, they lacked the confidence to be a good pair of parents.

After all, it's their first time taking care of a child.

"From this perspective, creating a Blood Race child seems great, right? At least you won't face the myriad troubles of human children, and any inadequate knowledge can be directly inherited by the child through Blood Race characteristics. In other words, the child can possess the same understanding as Lisidorwei upon birth. This understanding differs from memory, which I've endowed Lisidorwei with."

Lisidorwei was somewhat confused: "Ah?"

"What are you 'ah'-ing?" Mohe looked at Lisidorwei with displeasure, "Hey! Do you know why I call you a 'completely satisfactory creation'? Do you understand why you were previously called a failure? Have you seriously researched what you can currently achieve? I gave you this body for you to see!"

Lisidorwei fearfully shrank behind Doro. Mohe's outbursts can be quite intimidating, and only Doro could handle them calmly.

"You're acting as if I'm bullying you," Mohe sighed, "Well, I guess I've informed you. I'd appreciate it if you could spend more time exploring what the Blood Race truly is when you go back—sigh!"

Mohe felt she made a mistake. Since creating the perfect life form, perhaps she should also select the soul. Lisidorwei, this useless entity, was already unfit at the soul level. Did she make a mistake when she created her soul initially?

Can't quite recall her mindset back then!

She walked down the street with the two.

"Even Sim City has been affected..."

The war has actually begun.

The Ice and Snow Kingdom is but a microcosm of the current era, especially when the Human Central Empire has failed in a war that absolutely must not be lost, with the life and death of the Thunder Emperor unknown, and the attitudes and stances of the Hero and Demon King undisclosed—yet their names are borrowed nonetheless.

In the past, various races resisted the rule of the Demon Race, led by the Hero, in a campaign fought with determination. Collaboration was paramount, and for the past decade, consorting with demons was a grave crime.

People feared being associated with the Demon Race. Some, who held special statuses, would even buy demon slaves only to kill them brutally, declaring their irreconcilable enmity with demons—but now, many have stepped forward, claiming "in truth, the Demon Race are the true rulers of the world, the original race, ancestors of all races, with humans intent on usurping their place."

Thus arose support for the Demon Race to become the legitimate authority, upholding the Hero's justice, upholding the Demon King's legitimacy...

In short, this meant opposition to the Human Central Empire.

As concerned parties, the Demon King and Hero are entirely indifferent, yet previously, Sim City was recruiting soldiers, and now this situation appears to have worsened.

"This isn't good news, Mr. Doro; in times like these, the conditions for living in peace and prosperity are probably quite harsh."

It's well-known that during war times, aside from conscription, inflation and rising taxes are commonplace, making the conditions for peace and prosperity quite severe.

In terms of concrete manifestations, Sim City's streets have become somewhat desolate, with pedestrians rushing as if something were chasing them, as if wasting time were a grave error.

Not peaceful.

It instinctively brings to mind such a description.

Doro, of course, has seen such sights.

In the campaign against the Demon King, it was much the same, yet every time word of victory reached the towns, people would regain vitality, full of life—he thereby obtained the strength to press onward.

Now, looking back, it seems rather ironic.

The stance at that time was likely somewhat different, for then he always silently said to everyone: "Everyone, please hold on a little longer. As long as I defeat the Demon King, everything will get better."

Will everything get better?

Now, what difference does it make?

The relatively good life over the last decade was simply because of the existence of "peace."

Objectively speaking, it was the various powers digesting the Demon King's "flesh" that sustained the superficial peace. Factually, chaos had already occurred; even if many had not fully digested Mohe's flesh, disputes within hearts had already begun to emerge.

Until death, the Elf Queen never believed she did anything wrong. She held, to the last moment, that she was right, and that Hero A·Gedora had no reason or stance to interfere in the Elven race's internal affairs — matters they should settle behind closed doors — she believed she was fighting for the strength of the Elven race to the very end.

Sparing no expense for it.

Hence, Doro's anger and emptiness.

For here there is no "rightness."

Shaking his head to discard the questions he could not understand no matter how, he said to the two women: "No matter what, life must go on — one cannot cease to do other things just because times are not peaceful. Have you made up your mind about the house, Lisidorwei? Given the current period, maybe we can get it at an even cheaper price."

Focusing more on current life can ease inner anxiety greatly; perhaps "trivial matters" are not entirely worthless, at least they keep you busily engaged.

"That's a good suggestion; I'd love to visit. Maybe I can even help you haggle a bit."

Mohe indeed showed some interest: "Didn't I say you could take a few servants before? Do you have a preferred choice? Like Rose... Oh, also, apart from Rose, regarding Ah Xion you must take her away yourself, whether you think of her as a teacher or a student, regardless... I don't want such a fool left in my residence."

"...Even if she heard such words, she would be hurt."

"So, will you take Rose?" Mohe blinked, "At this point, if you want to continue ignoring Rose, it's quite excessive, right? Mr. Doro, have you two discussed this matter thoroughly?"

Mohe raised a soul-searching question but did not seem to desire an answer: "However, today's main purpose is to inspect Sim City, find suitable work for you two, and look at houses — let's first go see the houses you've selected."
