Apocalypse Forecast

Chapter 156: Below the Legend_3

And he was only one step away from the Authority Angel! In other words, Huai Shi could become a Holy Light Fighter again anytime, as long as he gathered the necessary items!

How could things be torn apart just like that?

"Anyway, let's set this matter aside for now and roll for an interlude reward."

KP took out a thick Rule Book and explained its meaning to Huai Shi. It seemed that in this kind of game, as long as a player completed a module, their character could grow and receive Skill rewards.

However, according to KP, this reward could be applied directly to *himself*? Free skill enhancement!

Huai Shi's eyes lit up with excitement. Following KP's lead, he began to roll the dice. Soon, his complexion turned pitch black as he found himself lost in the blue skies and white clouds of Africa, mouth agape and eyes wide in shock.

Bluff, rhetoric, stealth—these Skills that had been hugely successful in the module—all failed to grow?

After a full round of rolling, only the most basic 'Listen' and 'Investigation' Skills were enhanced.

As the dice tumbled, Huai Shi saw a flash before his eyes. The world seemed to become much clearer in an instant; numerous small traces he had previously overlooked were now vivid before him. His ears could even hear the sound of people's clothing rubbing outside the cabin, along with the deep echoes of countless waves surging like a symphony. The perception that had been elevated to its limit by the Yin Soul was now greatly improved once more!

This alone was a delightful gain.

But then, when he rolled the dice for the last time, his mind suddenly filled with a wealth of knowledge: the properties of various metals, their treatment methods, and the important details to pay attention to in each process. The vast amount of data and knowledge from books that he had previously memorized by rote, along with the numerous details and key points Raven had mentioned during his lessons, now miraculously coalesced in his mind. Raven's explanations, in particular, became crystal clear.

The growth check for Alchemy had passed!

In an instant, he bypassed the long period of memorization, fruitless attempts, and slow experimentation required to grasp the basics. He had formally crossed the threshold!

When he raised his palm and focused his mind, he glimpsed countless tiny metal fragments appearing in the void above it. Pure white Alchemy Fire rose, its temperature changing flexibly, quickly melting, refining, purifying, extracting, and even synthesizing them. Finally, they became a surge of silvery-white liquid.

A minor miracle descended.

Silver Blood Potion!

Although the Potion's efficacy was slightly weak, Huai Shi had already leaped past the long apprentice phase, producing with his bare hands an achievement that once seemed unreachable.

While he was still marveling at this, he heard KP snap his fingers excitedly, a thoughtful expression on his face. It was as if a spark of inspiration had struck KP.

"I've got it!" KP exclaimed, his eyes lighting up joyfully. "This is the perfect reward to honor you!"

As Huai Shi looked up in astonishment, he saw KP reach out towards him, grasp something intangible, and then make a pulling motion.

Huai Shi's head buzzed instantly; it felt as if KP had pulled something from his very Soul. When he looked up, he saw KP holding a magnificent Cross Spear. The silvery blade of the spear was engraved with layers of complex insignia, delicate and majestic, as if it gathered all the light in the world.

"Spear of Compassion?"

KP looked down at the inscription on the Long Spear and nodded admiringly. "A good name."

As he spoke, he reached out and picked up the fragment of the Philosopher's Stone from the table—the Eye of Repentance, which had once belonged to the Fifth Stage Sublimator, Blue Crown Dragon Van Helsing. In his hand, the crystalline pupil transformed into a stream of light, fusing onto the spear's blade.

It illuminated KP's smile.

"Let this commemorate your 'dragon-slaying feats' then."

In that moment, the light dissipated from the blade. On its silvery-white edge, a fresh bloodstain suddenly appeared. The seemingly inexhaustible Blood of the Green Crown Dragon slowly dripped from the blade onto the ground. The floor decayed in silence where it fell, and immediately, clusters of pure white Iris flowers bloomed from the decay. They emitted a soul-refreshing fragrance.

"You overcame evil, subverted fate, and saved the princess trapped in an endless cycle of death. Your actions are truly an embodiment of glory." KP smiled, observing the exquisite Long Spear. "From 1620 until now, such a vast span of time has been pierced by this spear.

—This is the proof of an undying legend."

As he spoke, he reversed the spear, holding it out to Huai Shi with elegance and solemnity.

Huai Shi slowly extended his hand and grasped the handle.

At his thought, the magnificent Cross Spear shrank inch by inch in his hand, transforming into an ancient book. When he looked down, he saw the time-worn cover, its title bearing a profound sense of antiquity.

"Surprise for Four Hundred Years"

He was stunned.

"KP…" Holding onto a last thread of hope, he stared at the man before him. "Is Lily truly still alive?"

"Who knows?"

KP smiled mysteriously. "The life and death of humans are like morning dew, like a fleeting shadow. The life and death of an Artificial Human are even more illusory.

"Moreover, wasn't she originally someone who wasn't supposed to exist in this world? Her existence is void, her passing elusive; these are inherently indefinable matters."

"But is that really true, or…"

"Is the distinction between reality and illusion really that important?"

KP said calmly, "I believe that regardless of which it is, you will treat it equally, with unchanging consistency. That is enough. For your tolerance and generosity, I am sincerely grateful."

As he spoke, he took a step back and retrieved his top hat and coat from the rack beside him.

"Then, Mr. Huai Shi, allow me to take my leave."

KP bowed deeply and respectfully. "I sincerely hope that one day, you and Miss Lily will meet again in this dreamlike world."

He paused for a moment, then smiled meaningfully.

"Until then, please wait and keep hope alive!"

In the silence, KP turned and left.

The door closed.

Huai Shi stared blankly at the ancient book in his hand.

Is this the end of the story? Perhaps.
