Huai Shi let out a low growl and charged again.
CRASH!
Axe Blade and saber collided, sparking fire. Both raised their fists, striking each other's faces and stepping back. Then, gripping their weapons tightly, they slashed at each other amidst heartrending cries.
A piercing Roaring Outburst erupted.
Huai Shi screamed fiercely.
Amidst the sound of burning and shattering, iron clashed against iron, striking violently against each other, and again advanced under the tight grip of the Vampire and the Immortal.
The gleam of iron flowed like water, continuously bursting forth from the scorching air.
It lit up their crimson eyes.
"See that? The atmosphere is getting heated," said Huai Shi, tilting his head and spitting out a mouthful of venomous blood, whispering softly, "Pity there's no applause."
Koshchey, expressionless, took a step forward and struck with his saber again!
In the crushing roar, flames spread, inch by inch eroding the deck. The sludge formed by Dark Basicity churned, bursting forth like a tidal wave three times over, overwhelming even the Artificial Human Sailors.
But when the burly captain smashed through a door and pulled an iron chest from a crevice in the wall, the tide of battle surprisingly turned again.
Within the chest, a row of black firearms, alien to this era, gleamed with the cold light of steel.
"Ha! Old buddy..." The captain, pipe clenched in his teeth, grinned wickedly. He pulled out a machine gun that should have been welded to a war vehicle, trailing a long chain of bullets, and pulled the trigger at the Monsters formed by Dark Basicity.
The gunfire roared.
Thunderbolt burst forth from the spinning muzzle.
"Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!!!" the captain bellowed following the lethal hail of bullets. "This is what you get for not buying a ticket, you scum!"
And the other sailors grabbed long guns and small arms from the chest, rushing at the enemy, each one transforming from an iron giant into a Rambo, recklessly battling the Monsters.
In an instant, the scene shifted from medieval to a modern military fighting Monsters.
In the midst of the battle, Huai Shi's eyes turned red with envy. "Damn, get me one too! Give me one, give me one!"
"No more!" The captain glanced at him sidelong. "At your young age, what do you need a gun for? Play with your axe!"
BOOM!
Huai Shi, caught off guard, was knocked back by Koshchey, almost falling into a pit beneath the floor. Koshchey pressed on, his saber slicing again!
Then, a thunderous CRACK erupted.
A massive gash appeared in Koshchey's head. Beyond him, at the restaurant's doorway, stood Lily, holding the muzzle-loader that had killed the Pharaoh, gasping heavily.
The Demon King's movements froze.
Huai Shi roared, and his Axe chopped toward Koshchey's face!
Koshchey stepped back, the Axe Blade splitting his chest open and blood spraying. But Koshchey's actions didn't pause. As his saber fell, he saw Huai Shi raising his left hand.
Bracing for the blade, Huai Shi grasped it tightly.
In a moment of deadlock, Huai Shi looked up and suddenly headbutted Koshchey's fractured skull.
Koshchey staggered and took a step back. Huai Shi advanced again, his Axe Blade chopping down, severing his left arm. Then Huai Shi roared, surged forward, ramming into the battered shell with a charge, and suddenly smashed him onto the table.
Huai Shi delivered a powerful kick.
Koshchey fell to the ground.
Now's my chance!
Huai Shi gripped the Axe with both hands, positioned it above Koshchey's head, roared, and chopped down!
This time, there was no escape for Koshchey.
But from his hollow pupils burst a fierce light as the broken saber was raised, not to dodge or block, but to stab at Huai Shi's forehead.
He was aiming to take Huai Shi down with him!
In that moment, a clear sound suddenly echoed through the restaurant.
Koshchey's movements froze; he halted in place.
The descending Axe Blade drew blood, leaving a deep gouge on the floor.
The victor was clear!
But it wasn't just the battered shell that was paralyzed. The surging Dark Tide also stiffened in place as if frozen, then burst into a piercing wail.
Huai Shi turned around and saw Lily rushing to the center of the restaurant, her hands raised. In them, she held the soup spoon, already snapped in half.
This was Koshchey's final anchor.
Instantly, the surging Dark Tide receded. Countless Monsters wailed as they dissolved, regrouping into the mire. The mire then spasmed, dissipated, and swiftly evaporated.
At the end, only an aged, decaying body lay on the ground.
It was what remained of the Demon King called Koshchey.
On the verge of vanishing.
The stooped old man struggled to stretch out a hand, trying to grope for something, but he couldn't touch anything. At last, his hand fell helplessly and was grasped tightly by Yaga, who had rushed forward.
"Brother, I'm here... I'm right here," she whispered.
The weary old man strained to open his eyes, trying to see her clearly. Finally, after a long time, he discerned her haggard face. As if finding relief, a smile of deliverance spread across his face, emerging from the fear.
"Run, Yaga, run," the old man uttered in a hoarse voice, summoning all his strength to call out her name. "Run! Run where they can't catch you... live... live well..."
As he dissipated rapidly, Koshchey shed murky tears, gazing at his last kin.
"I am... sorry..."
This was their final farewell.
His body scattered to the wind, and in the end, only a handful of dispersing ashes remained, falling onto Yaga's charred skirts.
"Brother, we have no escape left, do we?"
Yaga numbly watched the ashes slip through her fingers, her face twitching as if she wanted to cry but couldn't shed tears. The disheveled Witch shook her head numbly, looking around at everything, at everyone's faces, as if watching a joke unfold.
