Jeremy's expression became entirely solemn when he heard Corey's thoughts on the possible worst case scenarios.
Both of the scenarios were truly terrible, and Jeremy had no idea if he would have been able to survive this today with his companions and also that of Corey's alone.
This had to be the most dangerous today he had ever come across, and the thought of having to fight an Immortal was bone chilling.
Although he could not die, his soul dreaded the number of todays he would have to experience to kill an Immortal.
'It would be like an eternity of torture since the chances of me breaking the wall of today would be nigh impossible.'
Jeremy sighed, and then he looked at Corey who had his eyes closed.
He wanted to ask so many questions about what was going on, and also how he recovered his memories since nobody had been able to do such a thing.
He had always known that Corey was an extremely powerful and mysterious man, and a part had always looked up to him.
He wanted to be as powerful as him, and since Corey could teach him a lot compared to Pamela, he admired Corey.
Knowing that there was somebody else who would not forget about the past whenever he died and time reset, brought about a relief which he did not know he could ever feel.
It was so strange feeling this emotion because he always had to do everything alone. He had gotten used to shouldering everything and not having anybody to talk to about his secret until he either died a true death or became old.
And knowing that there was somebody else in his lonely journey, made him extremely relieved.
'With his help, I can get a lot stronger if he can keep on training me.'
Jeremy's eyes flashed, and Corey's eyes opened with a frown.
He noticed the frown and asked with concern. "What is it?"
"I tried teleporting Selene, Kiefer, Willow, and Pamela to this room since I can't allow them to remain wherever they are since it's dangerous, but I failed." Corey's frown deepened. "There's an extremely powerful restriction over the space in the palace, and even I cannot bypass it."
Jeremy's expression became extremely solemn, and although he wanted to comment on why Corey did not attempt to teleport his comrades, he chose not to since he had a few guesses as to why he did not.
"So, what are we going to do?"
Corey stood while twisting his neck slightly. "We're going to try and save them as quickly as possible."
"But why are you so calm? Shouldn't you be in a hurry to save them?" Jeremy asked with a slightly confused and suspicious expression.
Corey looked at him with a raised brow. "What about you? Shouldn't you also be in a hurry because of your friends?"
Jeremy frowned slightly. "It's because of you I'm calm at the moment."
"Oh." Corey released a short chuckle. "Well, it's because I know that we'll at least have a second chance to save them."
"A second chance?" Jeremy frowned in confusion for a moment, but a second later, his eyes widened in disbelief and took a step back.
"You mean you want me to die if we're not able to save them?"
Corey raised his brows and looked at Jeremy with slight surprise. "Why are you so surprised? Do you honestly believe that if any one of... my friends and your friends die, we'll continue the day like that?"
Corey shook his head. "Absolutely not. If one of them dies, then I'll kill you if I have to, to bring them back."
Corey gave a harmless smile, and then patted Jeremy's shoulder. "You're our ultimate restart button, and since all you have to die, it's not so difficult... Especially since I'm much stronger than you."
Jeremy felt a chill run down his spine as he looked at Corey's seemingly harmless smile that seemed to be from the devil himself.
Pat Pat
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to make the death as quick and painless as possible."
He then gestured at the door.
"So, kindly leave the room first. Who knows if you'll die the moment you step out of the room."
Jeremy slowly turned his head to the door, and although he had had that thought before and knew such a thing was possible, hearing Corey say it with a 'harmless' smile was troubling.
Jeremy gulped.
Corey removed his hand from his shoulder, and then he removed his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent from the room.
"Go on. Move."
He gestured at Jeremy, and the King of Miracles exhaled deeply, and then he approached the door and opened it.
As he opened it, his body was primed to react to any sudden danger, but he saw nothing.
He turned to his left, and then to his right, and when he saw nothing, he looked back at Corey slightly.
"Seems it's sa-"
WHOOSH!!
PUCHI!!!
Cough!
Jeremy coughed out a mouthful of blood, and he looked down at his chest, only to see a blood-red spear shooting out from his heart.
"How?"
That was the last word he managed to say before he fell to the ground and breathed his last, his blood spreading in a circular form across the room.
Meanwhile, Corey was on one knee with a blood pouring out from his severed arm.
Behind him was the blood-red spear stuck in the wall with his nailed arm slowly dissolving into blood.
Corey held his arm and glanced at it for a second before shifting his gaze to the black clothed man who was also wearing a black mask.
The opening for his eyes showed extremely black eyes that had a tiny red dot at the center. As Corey stared into the eyes of the man, he noticed that the man felt... dead.
Like he had no signs of life, and this made Corey's expression to become grave.
'This might be worse than I thought.'
